Kari's POV

     Jinx was starting to act strange. She didn't spend much time with Kid anymore, and spent more time with Speedy. One day, when it was cold and rainy outside, with a heavy drizzle, Jinx called Kid Flash out side to talk. Hmm.... but it's raining, I thought.

3rd person

     "Kid... there's something I need to tell you..." Jinx looked down. "There's someone else... I'm so sorry. But we can still be friends, right? I'll never forget what you did for me. And I'm still on your side. Just not by your side anymore," Jinx said.

    "What? Who?" Kid said, shocked.

    "Speedy... but... it's no reason to get mad..." Jinx knew there was every reason for him to get mad. She was sorry, but Speedy was... different. She had always liked Kid's sense of... well, being a kid, but Speedy was more serious. She guessed he would be better, besides... Kid had Kari.

    "There's plenty of reasons to get mad. I gave you everything, I trusted you, I risked my life and my position... everything. Just for you. And now you're going to leave me here? Alone? I was ready to give up being a hero for you!" Kid said, starting to get upset. She was leaving him?! What had he done this time? She was leaving for real this time, he knew it. She had always put up with him... but... what had he done?

    "I'm sorry! I know how much you risked for me! But you still have everything!" Jinx's temper began to rise slightly.

    "I don't have everything! I'm going to be looked at as a loser, because I did so much to help you, and then you dump me for... for him! He's not like me! I gave you my heart, Jinx! I trusted you! How could you?" Kid was upset. He didn't understand. Speedy had no sense of humor in combat. Sure, he played pranks, but that was nothing.

    "I'm sorry, Kid." Jinx said as  walked off. Kid just stood there, drenched and broken-hearted.

     "Jinx..." is all he could say. Then he heard foot steps. "Huh~? Who is it?" Kid turned to see Kari. Her blood-ruby red eyes sparkled with sadness for him...

     "Are you... are you ok?" she asked, her voice soft and sweet.

     "Y-yeah.. I'm-I'm ok..." Kid sighed... Kari looked down, then rushed over to Kid and hugged him. "K-Kari?!" Kid looked down at her surprised, then sighed, smiled, and ruffled her hair. "Thanks... I needed that."

Kari's POV

     "I-I... needed it, too..." I drifted off. Why do I feel like I need to tell him everything? I sighed. "I've never really been... well... accepted into human society. You know, my feline thing..." I admitted.

     "It's okay, Kari. I think it's kinda cool." Kid said. I looked up.

     "You really think so?" I asked hopefully.

     "Yeah." Kid said. We just stood there, a little awkwardly. "Sooo... you wanna... I don't know... go back inside? It's kinda... wet out here." Kid said, lightening the mood with a little joke. I grinned.

    "Yep. It is a little wet isn't it?" Thunder crashed and lightning flashed. I jumped and shivered. Ugh. I hate thunderstorms. Kid side-hugged me.

     "Let's go inside." We walked into the entry hall and sat down to dry off. "I'm guessing you don't really like storms?" Kid said to me.

     "Nya-da. It just makes me nervous." I said evasively. I wasn't afr-

      CRASH! BOOM!

      I jumped. "Okay, yeah, yeah. I'm terrified of storms. Let's go to the others really quick now. Come on, come on, let's go. Step on it, Kid." I rushed the words out. I couldn't run away from storms. So I needed to take shelter from them. "Come on, let's go." I said, a little more calmly. "Race ya!" I shot out and up the stairs. Kid streaked up behind me a few seconds later. I stood in front of the door. "Here we are."

     "Kari!! There you are! Hey Kid! Where's Jinx?" Savvy ran up and hugged my neck so hard I thought she was gonna break it.

    "Savvy, Savvy, don't break my neck! Jinx left. She'll be back." I answered for Kid. Kid sat on the couch.

      BAM!

     Starfire shrieked and jumped into Robin's arms. Raven threw her hood up and stood.

     "I'm going to bed." Raven fled the room.

     "I'm gonna beat Cy and then I'm gonna turn- HEY!!! You beat me! No fair dude!! Awww!" Beast Boy stood up and left, grumbling about losing. Cyborg shut the game off.

     "I believe I will also go to sleep. Goodnight, friends." Starfire grabbed Robin's hand and dragged him out.

     "Hey! CyborgshowKari,Kid,andSavannahwheretogoIcan'tStar'sgotmethanksnight!" Robin gushed right before the door closed. Cyborg spread out his hands in front of himself.

      "And they all went running away, leaving Cyborg to take care of the guests." Cyborg said in a story-telling voice. Thunder boomed, increasing the dramatic effect. "Let's go, y'all." Cyborg led the way. I already had a bedroom, and I knew where it was.

      "Bye, guys." I walked to my room while Cyborg showed the others to the guest rooms. How many rooms do they have in here?! I collapsed on the soft, silky bed. It had been a long time since I had last been here. The door opened. Savvy came in.

     "I hope you don't mind... you know what storms remind me of." Savvy said. I patted the bed.

     "Here, Savvy, it's okay. Shhhh..." I rocked Savvy to sleep and carried her to her room. Explosions. That's what thunder was for both of us. For her, it meant the destruction of her home, planet, friends, family, everything she had ever known. In a way, she was my little sister, but in reality, she was much older than me. I hate storms because I'm a cat. Explosions don't hold well with me either. (read karikit's works to find out why)

     "If only storms where quiet and the world was perfect. If only heartbreak didn't exist, if only there were no enemies. If only..." I whispered half to myself, half to sleeping Savvy, half to Kid, off in his room.

     What Kari didn't know was that as she said that, there were many others thinking it. Raven, clinging to Beast Boy in her gothic-style room, Kid, nursing his broken heart and trying to get over Jinx, Starfire, thinking of Gordanians attacking, Robin, thinking of all the enemies in the world, Savannah, remembering her own exploding planet, Beast Boy, thinking of Raven's terror, Jinx, regretting all she had ever done and how messed up she was, and so many other people, many of them just ordinary people.
