THE 30 - SECOND STORM ~ 5-DAY POEM CHALLENGE - DAY TWO (FLUFF)
(Okay so basically I was kinda depressed about Shelter 2. I know it has a happy ending - with the main mother lynx getting a new mate and reuniting with her grown cubs off-screen, as well as having a new litter of kits - so I decided to write a poem about it
I wouldn't be surprised if one of these one-shots turns out to be about escape the night.) (MudkipBrony) in my personal opinion it's not as good as Day One but I still like it)
DAY ONE: ADVENTURE
DAY TWO: FLUFF
DAY THREE: FLIGHT
DAY FOUR: HIDDEN
DAY FIVE: WARMTH
Type: Rhyme-ish?
Plot - Lynx kits and their mother Inna basically just try to protect Inna's second new litter from their first storm.
She stood excitedly
At the top of the hill
The spring air clean
Full of warmth, not a chill
Her new litter played
in the light green grass
Suka, Bena, Ali and Nua
Keeping up with them
A genuine task
Inna'd just woken up
From a nap well earned
The yellow-orange sun on her fur
Trying not to get burned
But something in the air
Made mother lynx turn her head
Her old friend
The North Star
was going to bed
And dark clouds took her place
A dark smoky grey
Inna knew it would rain
On this peaceful newleaf day
Inna yawned and stretched
In the morning air,
Hoping her first litter would soon be there
With her
That would be nice
She hadn't seen them in months
Only once, maybe twice?
She missed Percie, his dark grey fur almost black
His eyes always shimmering excitedly
Bova, her cream white fur just like her mother's
Stuck in her own little universe
Just happy to be living this beautiful life
Kir,
Her bright red fur the colour of fire,
Spunky and bright,
The true leader
And Willow, Oh Willow
Her quiet demeanor
Stayed close to her mother when she was a cub
Maybe she lived nearby?
Yes, it'd only been 3 months of so
But...still.
"What's wrong mother?" The youngest of her cubs came
Ali, she smiled, feisty, and the biggest pain
"Nothing, my daughter, now go play with your brother."
But the young lynx cub shook her head and curled up to her mother
"I'm waiting for your siblings," Inna admitted.
Ali gasped. "The older ones?" She looked determined, committed.
Mother lynx gaze and purr and looked out on the hills
The terra cotta brown rabbits hiding in their burrows
And there were her cubs
Now all fully grown
Kir leading (of course)
Their steps all light in tone
Their ears flickering up,
Kir gave a signal and they went
Bova looking excited
Their paw prints leaving muddy dents
In the melting snow and-
oh! they've grown so big!
And Inna gave a start when she saw what she did.
Percie had four small cubs trailing behind,
one looking like him,
all their chests out in pride
But only mothers of their kind took care of their young
So how-?
(pff just completely blows off the rhyme because what rhymes with young I dunno I'm really tired and delirious and can't think of anything rn.)
"Mother!" Bova squealed, her eyes shining with youth
Her paw-steps were light
Inna greeted her.
"Tooth!"
The tiny black kit that looked so much like Percie
Was now circling Ali and Suka
His- father? -looking quite weary.
But Inna couldn't care less
Pushing her fur against her kits
Purring loudly
Almost in fits
"I've missed you so much-I'd like to meet your siblings."
"Already replacing us, huh mom?" Percie purred, fussing over the young black kit
Looking so much like Percie...
"Are they yours?" Mother lynx asked,
Tilting her head
Percie looked awkward, nodded, mumbled
"Their mother's dead."
Bova and Willow sharing a look
"Oh Percie, I'm so sorry."
He looked up, gave a small purr.
"Don't be."
Suddenly thunder boomed
A battleground of sounds
The tiny kits squealed loudly
And began to run around
The dark grey skies,
The lonesome fog
Another old friend,
Covered swamps, fields and logs
The land grew quiet,
Then a shattering boom
Inna purred despite herself
At her kit's attitudes
Slowly, then all at once
Rain began to fall
Percie's only daughter looked up
As id she'd already seen it all
"Common all of you, let's go play in the rain."
Bova had suggested.
The kits mewled.
"Go away!"
Eventually though, the rain became light,
and Inna remembered when she was a kit
With her brothers
Her mother
All in a fit,
Playing in the fog, taking in the rain,
And originally
They all thought it would bring them pain
And the fog..
That fog.
That had covered the logs and the swamps and her hearts
As it thundered like thunder against her tiny cream chest
Her siblings had teased her
She had been a mess
But luckily they stopped teasing
When it swallowed a mouse
After that they had gone to their little earth house
Now she remembered
Her siblings lived close
Her mother did too
She missed her mother though the most
Maybe I'll visit them-maybe one day
But for now, I'll get my kits to-
"Come out and play!"
Bova grumbled.
"They just don't like you," Percie purred.
"You'll come out for me?" Willow asked gently.
Finally
The tiny pawprints
The terra cotta kits
With cream -sorry snow
Or tan - sorry birch
Came out, sniffing the air
One kit's stomach lurched.
"It won't hurt us?" Bena asked.
Inna shook her head.
"We'll all keep you safe until we're old and dead."
While the others all glared at an embarrassed-looking Kir
Inna coaxed them all out
And she began to purr
Nothing will harm you..
I'll keep you warm..
You will all be safe..
With meee...
I'll keep you from snow and keep you from harm
From fire from storms and lonesome fogs of alarm
You'll always be welcome home
And safe
Heerre..
The older grown lynx purred.
They knew the song their mother sang to them almost by heart.
The kits eventually came out.
Their tiny pawprints leaving prints in the mud.
Bena -or was it Suka? - squealed as her paws moved in the brown slush, and then began to bounce around
Not a care in the world
Inna purred then turned to her kits
"I'll miss you when you'll need to leave next couple of moonrises."
The kits exchanged glances.
"Mother, we live around here." Kir said, her eyes gleaming.
With such affection
And Mother Lynx knew her children had missed her
As much as she had missed them
"Does that mean?.."
She whispered.
She wasn't too surprised
After all, her siblings lived near the swamps, just close to here.
"We live near the cliffs," Percie replied.
The kits yelled out behind them, never feeling so alive.
"We'll be able to visit you now all the time!" Willow amended.
The lynx mother felt her love peaking up to its prime.
Maybe one day they could all visit her siblings, her mom,
Near the swamps, racing, looking for dawn.
Tooth and the others could catch frogs, they could see the Bear Spirit?
One day she's bring it up
If they wanted to hear it
Wrapping her tail around her kits,
With nothing but love
Looked up to the darkened grey smoky sky.
"Hey - we should go for a walk-I'll race you!"
And with that, they were all soaring high.
Kir in the lead, Bova right behind, as thunder boomed short, a blessing from the sky.
