1863
May 17th the day of the ball

I woke up to what seemed like hundreds of screaming girls. I sit up and whack my head on the top bunk bed I roll off the bed with one hand one my forehead. All I can see are colored blobs running jumping and screaming. I try to crawl across the colorful ocean of girls while practically blind. I try to stand up it wasn't a good plan because I took about three steps and I was back on my stomach army crawling through the princess battle feild. I crawl under two girls fighting over a hair brush. Some red high heel steps on my calf and I hear a muffled "sorry" when somone grabs my hand and pulls me up.

It's Fiona she is gorgeous and has an emerald dress on and shining gold high heals. "Fiona!" i say "what?" "you're absolutely gorgeous!" she giggles and hands me the champagne dress we run out the door like giddy little kids after they pulled an elaborate prank. I run in the changing room and stair at it. it's beautiful flowing and glowing my family could never afford it. I pull it over my head and look in the mirror. A tear rolls down my cheek. I can't leave my family they need me I cant enjoy myself while they suffer at home. I walk out of the changing room and Fiona hugs me but it's more like she puts me in a choke hold. "you can do this have one night for yourself" is she a mind reader or somthing?

A knock downstairs makes a stampede of girls start running for the door i'm just happy im not one of them i watch a blonde girl get trampled and me and Fiona run to help her up "are you okay" I ask "yeah i'm fine" she says. Shes the one who had the macaroon when I first arived. "hi i'm Fiona" "hi i'm Genevieve" "hi im cala" "nice to meet you both" she say's "Cala somone's here for you" somone says downstairs "see you at the ball then" Genevieve says "let's all meet at the snack bar" says Fiona we all agree "bye" I shout as i make my way through the croud of girls.

Somone new is in the door way not the old bald driver anymore "hi im chester i'm Vlad's nephew" so Vlad's his name i was wondering he looks like a vlad kinda vampirey. "he's cute" somone yells from behind me. Maybe so but not really my type he has dirty blonde hair literally, blue eyes and seems like a farm boy. we walk to the carriage. He still is red from being called cute Infront of about a hundred girls but i dont blame him I would be to. "hi im Cala" "nice to meet you Cala" he help's me up on the carriage. It starts bumping and I remember yestarday I close my eyes and try to push the memory away. "So are you excited?" he says. Not really "I mean" I start "nervous?" "yes" I say "I understand I would have peed myself by now" I laugh "how old are you" I ask "why, aren't you supposed to be trying to marry the prince" he says "i'm asking for a friend" he laughs "no actually, oh my god thats not what I meant" I say. Now we're both laughing "sixteen" he says "what" "im sixteen" "oh haha same age as her then" I say. "how old are you" "eighteen it was my birthday yestarday" I say. I can feel tears coming to my eyes "oh happy late birthday so this ball is kind of your present then" then it's the worst present i've ever got "sure, I guess"

the path is winding up the hill and i can see the castle of avendell. I take a deep breath I close my eyes it feels like i blinked when chester says "we're here!" he helps me out of the carriage the castle is beuatiful it's against the ocean I can feel it making my hair curl a perfect ringlet falls on my forehead it reminds me of jenny. I realize how much I miss my family it's stupid i'm homesick and its been a day.

The castle is beautiful it's got trees surrounding the outside on a beuatiful island you can hear the oceans waves crashing in on themselves. Ivy is crawling up the walls of the castle in the gardens and the flowers remind me of home. Chester handed me a mask it's beutifull gold outlined like clouds on a sunny day and it's shaped like a bunny  "it's a masquerade ball" he say's. I admire the mask before i put it on. I wave Chester good bye and make my way up the giant curved stairs. I take my heels off because I wouldn't make it if not. When i get to the top I open two giant gold doors.

The most embarrassing thing probably in my life happened i'm so happy I have this mask on. what looks like thousands or more people turn their head. Im frozen with my high heels in my hands and bare feet on cold marble floor. I dont know if I should laugh or cry so i just shut the doors like the awkward person I am.

The sun is setting already and the clouds have gold edges like my mask. I put my shoes on take a deep breath and reopen the doors. Everyone stairs again but i'm looking at the snack bar because the most giant cake I've ever seen is in the middle of the table. I also see Fiona and Genevieve bye the fruit talking. I walk down the steps and to the food. Genevieve and Fiona wave to me I wave back when somone grabs my hand and starts spining me around I almost scream but dont thank goodness. I get passed to another person I realize i'm supposed to be dancing. I don't know how to dance the last time I danced was at a carnival when I was seven.

A new person grabs my hand and we start to dance he also has a bunny mask. "do you know how" he asks "what?" "to dance" "I think your feet know the answer" he laughs it's a nice sound he leans in right next to my ear "I could teach you" he whispers all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up he smiles. then were being passed around the dance floor again. I make an escape to the snack bar and Genevieve and Fiona jaws are on the floor. "what was that?" Fiona asks "what?" I ask "umm maybe the tall handsom man whispering in your ear" Fiona says "what if he was the prince?" Genevieve asks "no he wasn't he seemed nice and he didn't have a crown on" I say "no one has a crown he doesn't want girls acting different towards him I think" Genevieve says "I feel sick from spinning I think i'm gonna go outside for a minute" "ok" they both say in unison. I see an arch way that leads to different doors because i'm not walking up those stairs in heels.

The sky is a beuatiful painted cobalt blue with splattered stars like freckles. flowers are everywhere and the grass looks turquoise under the night sky I can hear birds in the distance and the ball in the background. they're is a little grey bench i sit down on the cold seat and take off my heals. I have blisters on my feet from them, evil heels if I was queen I would ban them. It's a full moon tonight. Vinnie loves the stars and moon and all that space stuff I think she wanted to be an astronomer until mom got sick now I dont know I dont evan think she knows. A door creaks and I see a dark figure leaning on the door frame.
