CHAPTER 03
"DO you really have to do this?" Honey asked to Leina. He was looking at the latter, fixing her disguise in front of the mirror.
Leina wore a black face-mask to compliment her black jeans and t-shirt. "I don't look like myself in this get-up, do I?"
"It's dangerous, Leina. We don't know the plans of the person we're dealing with. You don't have to go, the company is already tracking your phone."
Leina sighed as she looked at herself in the mirror. "I will fix this myself, Honey. Trust me, I would go back here with my phone in my hand."
"You know, I can't trust you with your decisions. You are so impulsive. Remember what happened the last time I've let you handled things?"
"I need to face that person to know his agenda." Leina tied her hair in a bun and quickly stood up to gather her things. She made sure to have the last words and went outside of that hotel.
---
LEINA contacted the person who stole her phone. She was already using a new phone purchased by Honey.
"Where are you?" Leina asked herself while roaming her eyes inside the local coffee shop near the hotel. "Maybe I'm in the wrong place. There are few other coffee shops to choose from."
She ordered something to ease her. And as soon as her coffee arrived, she took out her face-mask and took a sip on her drink. Her hands were slightly trembling. That made her uncomfortable. Maybe it was a bad choice for her to order coffee.
Leina was in the middle of roaming her eyes when suddenly a waiter tripped right in front of her. The coffee that the waiter spilt, made their way into Leina's black t-shirt. Good thing that the shirt was dark in color and she didn't have to worry about stains and other things.
The waiter immediately bowed apologetically. "I'm sorry, Ms. It's my fault!"
"It's okay," Leina simply answered.
The person she was talking with was taken aback after hearing her voice. Then he looked at Leina's face. "L-Leina? Am I dreaming? Y-You are here in our... c-coffee shop?!"
The other customers heard the commotion, Leina's name in particular. It made them curious about what's happening. Most of them stood up and flocked at them.
And when Leina realized she took off her face-mask, she quickly put it back into its original place. But the people there already recognized her and started to swarm over her, asking for pictures and autograph.
Shock was an understatement for what Leina underwent while people were aggressively storming into her. They were like lions, starved enough to attack any prey. And in this situation, Leina was sure that she was their target and they were ready to devour her into pieces—metaphorically, but who knows if it would happen literally.
"Leina! Can you please sign this?!"
"Is it true that you've had plastic surgery done to your face to achieve that look?"
"What happened to your account in Instameter?! Did you really want to reveal the truth to us?"
"Let us touch her nose! Let's see id it's fake!"
"Let's do that to see if the rumors are true!"
Eyes full of terror, Leina tried to think of any escape method. People were flocking over her, from left to right. There was no use, she was cornered.
Leina pushed the people with all of her adrenaline inside. Her hands were trembling and she couldn't think of any way to run from that place. In her mind, she was cursing to herself for not listening to her manager awhile ago. "Don't touch me!" she shouted when someone almost pinched her nose.
"She's afraid that her silicon might misalign!"
Flashes of light struck Leina's eyes. Cameras were everywhere as the press also started to gather there soon as they heard that Leina was at that coffee shop.
She was breathing heavily from all of the commotion. Leina's eyes got blurry and she became light-headed. That was seconds until she collapsed right on the floor she was stepping upon.
---
LEINA slowly opened her eyes. As soon as she realized where she was, her head started to ache. Her vision was still slightly blurry but she managed to sit on her hospital bed.
Someone must have taken her there. But who? Her manager?
The door opened after a few seconds. "What happened to you?!" Honey asked. He stroke his fingers behind Leina's head as his eyes began to water. "I told you not to go!" He hugged Leina tightly.
"I can't breathe, Honey." She almost choked.
"What happened?! Tell me, Leina. Explain everything to me. And who brought you here?"
Leina seemed confused. "I thought you already knew what happened. And didn't you bring me here?"
"No. I just arrived because I've seen the news that you have collapsed at the coffee shop. That's why I immediately went outside to look for you! Thankfully, you are now okay." Once again, Honey hugged Leina.
"So... you didn't take me here?" Confusion was written all over Leina's face. "So... who?"
Her phone beside her vibrated and notify her of a new message.
Let's meet again next time. Make sure you're awake by then. :)
Leina's head throbbed in pain again after reading that message. What's the deal of that person? Playing games is not my thing!
"Is there any update regarding the tracking of my phone?" Leina asked Honey.
The latter sighed and shook his head. "They are still trying their best. But what's important right now is for you to lie low to silence the controversy surrounding you."
"I need to get my phone back, Honey! As soon as possible! The person who stole it would do anything just to expose me! I won't allow that!" Leina became feral. Her dextrose almost fell into its place due to her aggressive movements. But she wouldn't care less.
"Calm down! Your tantrums won't help our situation!"
Leina tightly clenched her fist to the point that it was shaking uncontrollably. "I will do anything to stop that person from sabotaging everything we have worked for, Honey. It took us years to get into this spotlight. That person doesn't have any rights to ruin my life!"
---
Ten years ago...
Leina was walking inside a church. She was amazed by the solemn beauty it possesses. But what took her attention the most were the people inside. They were bowing their heads, eyes closed, while murmuring things Leina couldn't understand.
She fixed her backpack's strap. It almost gave out because Leina's bag was overloaded from a lot of stuff, majority were her clothes.
"Little girl, what are you doing here carrying that heavy bag?" asked a man in his early 20's.
Leina didn't speak at all. She just stared at the man, it was almost she was talking to a celebrity.
"Why are staring at me like that?" The man chuckled and pinched the 9-year-old's cheek.
"Are you a celebrity?" Leina innocently asked, her eyes glistening while she barely blinked.
"Why do you ask?"
"Because you look like one. You look so handsome like the actors I see on TV. That's why I dream to be like them. Because they are beautiful. Because... everyone like them." Leina bowed her head as she felt her tears about to fall. She didn't want to cry in front of a stranger.
"I'm Honey, I'm a talent manager."
Leina couldn't understand what he said. She just stared at him again, blinking slowly.
"What's your name, little girl?"
"I'm Leina."
Honey kneeled in front of her and looked at her right into her eyes. He stroke his right hand into Leina's hair as he smiled to the little girl. "Leina, being a celebrity is no joke. You should understand that there are things you need to learn first before entering the industry."
Leina nodded instantly. "I am willing to learn everything. I also have talent because I can sing. I can also dance! I can do everything just to be a celebrity!"
Honey let out a chuckle after seeing the girl's enthusiasm. "This is my calling card, Leina. Tell your parents to call me if you are still willing to be a celebrity." He handed a small card to Leina's tiny hands.
---
"I WORKED hard to be in this position, Honey! I will make sure to let that person know who she's dealing with..." Tears fell from Leina's eyes as she clenched her fists into a ball.
