Chapter Two

A N A S T A S I A A N D K O L T
▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒▞▒

Location: Jericho
Day: May 24th, 2042
Time: 9:20 am

The plan for Willow that morning was to eat breakfast and then do her homework. She only got one of those done though, as she was distracted, along with her brother, by their father and Connor playing chess. It was very memorizing.
"How long have they been playing?" Willow whispered in her brother's ear, as Carl's LED changed to yellow for a split second in order to indicate the time.
"An hour." He whispered back and Willow blinked in shock and surprise. Carl always got up before Willow every morning, it just became routine for them, but she had no idea that he had spent an hour watching them play, while Willow had just gotten there about 5 or 10 minutes ago.

Violet's footsteps were heard as she came into the hallway.
"Check mate." Markus said, indicating that he had beaten Connor at chess.
"Uh... what's going on here?" Violet asked in confusion.
"They were playing chess." Willow and Carl replied in almost perfect unison, making them give each other a look, not expecting the other to speak.
"Oh. Well anyway. Markus I have to get something. So can I take someone with me?" Violet asked politely and Markus nodded as he started to clean up the chess board.
"Oh! Can I go?" Willow asked with anticipation and sparkle in her eyes. Violet chuckled.
"Why would you want to go with me?" Violet asked beginning to sit down on a steel bench.
"Because why wouldn't I?! You're the first Android before the Revolution to actually have nice owners!! Especially Cyberlife employees!! That's HUGE!" Willow explained, as she kept jumping up and down, her eyes continuing to twinkle. Violet smiled warmly at her, amused at her excitement about Violet's past. It made sense. After all, Willow probably heard the story about the Revolution more times than she could count (not to mention her adopted parents being leaders of Jericho). Violet pondered this for a moment.
"I'll let you come with me if it's ok with your father. I'm only going to see a friend." Violet said turning to Markus, who by this time was listening intently.
"No, Willow. You are not going with Violet. It's too dangerous for you." Markus said sternly.
"But you always say that!" Willow retorted.
"My answer is still no." Markus replied firmly, as North came over.
"Mom?" Willow asked looking at her mother pleadingly.
"The answer is no. We were just trying to keep you safe."
"But-"
"What happens if both you and Carl left? Who would be here to play with Alice and protect her?" Willow hesitated, and then closed her mouth. Her mother has found her Achilles heel. She knew that Willow cared for Alice very much, as well as the other androids on the ship.
"Fine." Willow grumbled in disappointment. Markus then turned to Violet, who patiently waited.
"Kara and I will go with you." Markus explained to Violet as she nodded.
"I've got some errands to run. Be good, and don't ask your Uncles Simon and Josh about going with Violet again." North announced.
"Cross my heart." Willow promised making North smile.
"I have an idea. Why don't we go to the park?" Carl suggested, making his sister light up.
"Oh, yeah! We could do that with Alice!" Willow said excitedly. She had been locked up in Jericho for three days, it may have worked for the androids, but Willow being a human, she needed some fresh air. Markus and North glanced at each other.
"It's not that far." North whispered to Markus. He nodded.
"Ok. You can go. I'll ask Kara if you can take Alice with you." Markus replied walking off to find her.
"Also, go straight back to our house when you leave the park." North added before leaving. In the time since the Revolution, androids had freedom to work and own their own property, it wasn't much, but it was a start. North and Markus bought a house for themselves and their children, but most of their time was spent at Jericho.

A few minutes went by and Markus returned.
"She says it's alright if Alice goes with you. Luther is also going to make sure you're safe." Both of Markus' children nodded obediently, as Kara handed Alice off to them.
"Are you ready to go?" A deep voiced asked, making a huge shadow loom over Violet. She turned around slowly, and immediately jumped out of her seat.
"Oh, you haven't met! Violet, this is Luther. Luther, this is Violet." Kara explained, but Violet was distracted by the large man in front of her. She gulped.
"Ni-ni-nice to meet you." She said nervously.
"Nice to meet you too." Luther replied, smiling at her kindly.
"To answer your question, we are ready to go, Luther." Willow explained.
"Wait, not quite! Forgetting about this." Carl added, handing his sister a tablet with her school's name on it as Willow groaned.
"Well, there's that." Willow said, pointing to her tablet.
"Just looking out for you." Carl mumbled, scratching the back of his head, not thinking she heard.
"I know. I am grateful, but... can't I just enjoy nature?" Willow hugged her brother and moved closer to him, looking at him pleading eyes.
"Yeah, but it's got your schoolwork on it." Carl retorted. Willow rolled her eyes and walked off.
"Always so obedient." She muttered, walking out.
"Are you calling me a machine??" Carl asked offended and confused, as their voices faded into the hallway, where their argument would probably continue, Alice and Luther slowly following after them.

Violet, Markus and Kara got into a taxi and Violet told the driver the address.
"So, who are we going to meet?" Kara asked on the way over.
"Well, it's my brother's apartment. I need to grab something that I left, and hopefully he's there. If he's alive." Violet explained, muttering the last part.
"You think he isn't alive?" Markus questioned.
"You never know," Violet replied looking over at the two androids, "the human might have gotten to him by now." Violet was terrified that the man had gotten everyone in her family. It had been two days since Violet's family was murdered, and the police had still not found him, like he vanished like a ghost.

After about 40 minutes later, they got to the apartment and went to the 4th floor. Instead of knocking, Violet practically kicked the door open.
"Hey, Anastasia I need something from you." An android with dark skin, Anastasia as Violet called her, jumped from a white cream couch in the apartment.
"What is it with your family and just barging into rooms?!" The Android exclaimed in annoyance, as she shut off the TV.
"I don't know. My parents worked at Cyberlife?" Violet guessed.
"Hm. Maybe."
"Anyway, Markus, Kara. This is Anastasia, my brother's... house sitter... girlfriend?" Violet guessed turning to her in confusion, and Anastasia smiled at them politely.
"I actually take care of his house when he's in college, and I'm also his girlfriend." She explains, before turning back to Violet.
"Anyway, what do you need?"
"My sketchbook." Violet stated bluntly. Anastasia's LED turned yellow and she tilted her head in confusion.
"I left my- well Deyanna's sketchbook here and I need to find it." Violet said looking around the apartment. Anastasia gave her a look of sympathy. Like the rest of her family, Violet was stubborn and she was not going to act like death affected her.
"She might be acting calm, but she's hurting inside." Anastasia whispered to Markus and Kara.
"How do you know?" Kara asked.
"I've known their family for a while. They kept a lot of secrets, and they were stubborn and certainly not angels. Too stubborn to admit when they were hurt or needed help. The only level headed one is Kolt. A negotiator for all their petty squabbles. And the big problems, like whether to keep Violet. In the end, they decided to keep her and the rest is history." Anastasia whispered back, and finished right in time for Violet to come back with a brown notebook in hand, overflowing with sketches and scrappy writing on a piece of tape that said "PROPERTY OF DEYANNA (AND VIOLET!)".
"Alright, I got what I wanted, so let's go." Violet started to rush towards the door, before Anastasia grabbed her arm stopping her.
"You should see Kolt. He's at the police station. I'm sure he'd love to see you!" Anastasia explained making Violet blink.
"I'd thought he'd be dead by now," she muttered cynically, "alright we'll go."
"I'll come with you. It'll be nice... to see you two reunited." Anastasia said with a soft smile.
"Uh-huh." Violet replied, rushing out the door, like a businesswoman rushing to a meeting (horrible analogy I know!). Anastasia frowned at her response. Although she knew that's how Violet was. Rushed everything, went forward without thinking of consequences. But deep down, she knew that she was happy to see her brother again, even if she didn't show it now.

L͞͞o͞͞c͞͞a͞͞t͞͞i͞͞o͞͞n͞͞: D͞͞e͞͞t͞͞r͞͞o͞͞it P͞͞o͞͞l͞͞i͞͞c͞͞e͞͞ D͞͞e͞͞p͞͞a͞͞r͞͞t͞͞m͞͞e͞͞n͞͞t͞͞
T͞͞i͞͞m͞͞e͞͞: 10:45 am

Violet opened the door to the police station hesitantly, as she had never been there before. She had no idea where to go or what to do.
"Hello! May I help you?" A human operator asked at the front desk. Anastasia, Markus and Kara then arrived and Markus' LED suddenly changed yellow.
"Detective Connor Anderson requested us." Markus explained as his LED changed back to blue. (I don't know how police stations work! XD)

The operator started to work on her computer, a ding sounded from it a minute later and then she smiled.
"You can go in." They said their thank yous and went in. Violet scanned the room and found... nothing.
"He's not here." Violet said with a hint of disappointment. So, they left. But once they got out, someone called out to Violet.
"Sis?" Violet froze and turned around, to a young man with black hair and brown eyes. Her brother, Kolt.
"Kolt." Violet replied and ran up to hug him, nearly knocking him down. He began to laugh and hugged her.
"How you doing sis?" Kolt questioned, his expression getting serious.
"I'm... ok. But enough about me, when did you come home?" Violet questioned, her LED flashing from yellow to blue, as she avoided answering. Connor came out and went past the siblings to talk to Markus and Kara.
"The police called to tell me about the murders and that out android ran away. I'm... just glad that you're alive. Where have you been all this time?" Kolt questioned his sister.
"I've been in Jericho." Violet explained, making Kolt smile.
"I'm glad you were with your own people." Violet smiled back at him.
"Has she been behaving?" Kolt asked Anastasia.
"As well as she can behave." Anastasia joked, going over to kiss her boyfriend's cheek. Suddenly Markus' voice was heard.
"He escaped?" He questioned Connor who nodded, as Kara looked very worried.
"Who escaped?" Violet asked curiously.
"The man that murdered your family. He just vanished when we were going to arrest. I turned around and he was gone. But most don't care. Most of the officers think you killed them." Connor explained and Violet rolled her eyes.
"Of course they do." She said with a sigh.
"If we do find them again, I'll be sure to let you know." Connor promised before going back into the station.

So that was that. Kolt was safe, the murderer escaped, but he would be found again. Maybe not now... maybe not soon, but he will be found.

Author's Notes
I have a few things to say. First, I'm sorry this took so long! I was going to publish this yesterday but I was stuck. I'm still not satisfied with the scene at the police station, but oh well. Sorry, if this all seems rushed (and for my bad writing! Or at least I think it's bad!).

Second, me, my mom and my dad are going to Annapolis pick up her boss' daughter (it's a long story) and that's an hour to and from so I might write then. I also might write on Tuesday, don't know. I'm going to a group therapy session for my shyness- I went to a Catholic school for ten years (two years of kindergarten) and it was pretty small (by small I mean class size, AKA a class size of 56 in which I knew everyone). There was also drama there (that I am not getting into) and they weren't really all nice people, just people I was basically forced to interact with because of how small the class was. Now that I'm going to a high school with about 400+ freshmen where I only know like four people, I'm hopping to improve my social skills (or at least be able to have conversations with people) and find people that I can actually call friends. Uh... so yeah, long explanation, but I'm doing that on the evening- and I am nervous!! Sure, it's with people my age, but it's strangers!! On the bright side, it's all group!

Two more things and then I'm done. Random reading recommendation because why the heck not!

I've been reading this Detroit: Become Human Fanfic called Just a Little While Longer by detroitbecomesimom it's funny, and sad and sweet all at the same time. It's focused on Simon and Markus as a couple, so just be warned if you don't ship them (or are... uh... homophobic? Actually, if you are and you follow me, well... the door is always open for you to leave😊). Connor also invites everyone to a party and they play spin the bottle and eventually get drunk... and well, stuff happens (it's pretty hilarious XD). Did I just spoil the plot? Maybe... just a little bit... hehe.

My ranking for Detroit: Become Human went down from 84 to 724 :(
But it's ok. If there's any advice I'd give you. Guys, remember, rankings and amount of votes and followers doesn't matter. Because really, at the end of the day, you came here to write, so who cares if people don't vote or comment?! It may be a slow process (as I'm remembering while writing these chapters) but you'll get there eventually🤗

Anyway, thank you for reading this update/rant/reading recommendation/advice... thing, and thank you to all who vote and read this story (even though I don't think it's not that greatXD)
Bye!
