WARNING: This chapter is really long and may make you sad
Location: Jericho
Day: June 28th, 2042
Time: 1:00 am
Most of the city of Detroit was asleep right now. The androids in Jericho, however, were wide awake. They didn't need sleep after all, but also feared that Roger would come after them. Of course, the humans that were there, Ottavia, Lexi and Willow asleep. And Alice, too was asleep. The new YK700s, named Molly, Farrah (who were sisters, Molly had yellow hair and Farrah had black hair) were asleep as well. There were also the other 12 androids who's names were: Yui, Rebexi, Natalya, Arielle, Herlee, who were all females and then there were the other eight male androids: William, Gayge, Zavr, Danom, Conrad, Ragan and Fyster. They were all slightly damaged by Roger's abuse (I guess you could compare him to Zlatko?). William and Yui were together, and took care of Molly and Farrah. Yui had a yellow complexion, while William, Rebexi, Gayge, Natalya, Zavr, Arielle, Danom, Herlee, Ragan, Molly, Fyster and Farrah were cream skinned with brown hair. Other Androids had arrived here to be safe from 'Cyberlife Killer' including Crystal and Rupert's neighbors from Safe Haven and the owners, Majorie, Faust and Bambi, supposedly having nightmares of their old owner who burned them with his cigarettes and abused them daily- they needed a change of scenery. Many had heard Roger's name before, but many did not remember from where or how. After the news of the blue blood and Dawn, one of the only Cyberlife employees who had sympathy for androids before the Revolution, was now dead, everyone was paranoid- downright terrified that Roger would strike again at any moment. It was amazing that any of the children were sleeping soundly considering what had just happened a few hours ago. Connor was busy trying to find Roger, but he was radio silent. He seemly vanished again. Markus, meanwhile was also hard at work, trying to figure out what to do if Jericho is attacked, whispering in a corner with North, Josh and Simon, trying to not wake the kids, as Carl kept watch on his sister as she stirred in her sleep while sleeping on his shoulder, possibly having a nightmare. But eventually, Carl did sleep, resting his head on Willow's. Other androids simply kept close, huddled between friends and loved ones, fearing the worst. While all of this was happening, Violet paced, as she had done so for the last two hours.
"Violet, please-" Anastasia began.
"Stop pacing." Crystal finished resting her head on Rupert's shoulder, holding his hand, as both woman were sitting on near by steel benches in the middle of the ship, along with the Tracis, the 14 new androids, Ralph, Kara, Luther, Marjorie, Faust, Bambi and others. Anastasia and Crystal were separated by four other androids sitting on the bench.
"Vi... please stop." Ottavia mumbled in her sleep, leaning her head on Ralph's leg near the left side of the bench.
"Ralph wants Violet to stop." Ralph repeated after her, as Ottavia shifted her position on his leg. Ralph was surprisedly unfazed.
"Vi... please." Lexi begged, her voice slightly slurred by sleep, as her head was resting on Ashley's lap and her legs on Meg's on a smaller bench near the front door of the ship.
"It's not good for you to be pacing for so many hours." Ashley commented, stroking Lexi's hair, as Meg nodded in agreement. Despite the many protests from her fellow androids and weary human companions, she didn't listen.
"Violet." Lexi and Ottavia both warned in unison through their drowsiness, each opening one eye to look at Violet annoyed. Violet did not listen. Anastasia rested her arm on her knee and sighed. Crystal shifted her eyes over to her, and Anastasia nodded in understanding. Both women grabbed Violet's arms, Anastasia on her left and Crystal on her right, stopping Violet in the middle of the ship leaving her shocked.
"Stop it!" Anastasia scolded.
"Now!" Crystal snapped. Violet then sighed, and left to go into another room, leaving everyone alone as Crystal and Anastasia both sat down back at their places on the bench.
"She gone?" Ottavia asked, opening her eyes, as Ralph moved to sit on the floor, leaning against the bench, leaving Ottavia with the opportunity to rest her head on his chest.
"Yes." Several people replied, including Lexi, Crystal, Rupert, Anastasia and the Tracis.
"Thank goodness." Ottavia muttered, laying her down on Ralph's chest with his arm wrapped around her waist, as she fell into a deep slumber.
T H R E E H O U R S L A T E R...
At 4am, they heard it. Clanking. No one thought anything of it. Ottavia, Lexi and the kids were still asleep, unfazed by the noise. However, almost all the androids were on high alert, frozen to the spot. Several more seconds went by with no one moving, and there was nothing but silence, so everyone relaxed. But then.... it was heard again, and the computer Connor had abandoned a few hours ago began to beep with Roger's location.
"That means he's-" one Android began with tears, before the clanking sounded again. The androids turned to Markus for guidance.
"Wake the everyone up, we need to get them to be alert." Markus announced and people began to murmur, and try walking the children up. Lexi and Ottavia were the first to awake. Ottavia stretched and asked what was going on before looking at her surroundings, and noticing the tracker beeping.
"O-oh. U-uh I-I see." Ottavia stuttered, terrified and panicky.
"This," Lexi gulped, "this is bad." She held Ashely's hand out of reflex. Both woman were terrified for the safety of their loved ones, as Roger would probably come after them, dating androids and all. Willow and Carl woke up next, shaken by their mother.
"M-mom? What's going on?" Carl asked as both children were still drowsy from sleep.
"Listen to me. We have to move. He's here." North stated quickly, standing them up and handing them to Simon and Josh.
"W-what's happening?" Willow asked worriedly, glancing between her two uncles, a blanket wrapped around her that she had been sleeping on. Both of them hesitated to answer, and North suddenly snapped, her voice slightly raised but still in a whispery tone.
"We don't have time to answer questions! He's coming!"
"W-who's coming?" Willow repeated, growing more and more worried. But North didn't answer Willow's question and instead turned to her husband.
"We need to attack now." North urged. Markus objected.
"No. We need to make sure everyone is safe!" He stated firmly. North sighed, tried of arguing about this, hoping Markus would agree with her.
"I-if this is about Roger, then Violet should be informed." Willow states shakily, but firm, her eyes not wavering from her parents. They were both slightly impressed by her intuition (obviously getting it from both of them), but were still unsure on what to do, the pressure of having very little time weighing on both of them.
"Willow is right. Violet should know about this." Anastasia stated, standing up from her seat, Lexi and Ottavia nodding.
"I agree." Carl piped up. Looking at his son and back at the three woman, Markus nodded, making North sigh, she was up against too many people and there was too little time to argue.
"Alright. Fine- y-you're right. Crystal, go get her." North orders, Crystal giving a brisk nod before leaving to bring Violet.
"Molly? Farrah? Please wake up." Yui begged her two children, as they continued to stir. Crystal emerged with Violet, who were both silent, knowing fully well what was going on.
"Alice? Can you hear me? You need to walk up." Kara shook Alice, but she didn't move. *BANG!* The clang of metal made them wake immediately as they were explained what was going on.
"Maybe-maybe it's just the wind?" Faust suggested through shaky breath. Bambi nodded rapidly in agreement. Marjorie said nothing, pondering if it really was the wind.
"Y-yeah. Maybe it is." Bambi added, shaking out of fear. Then Faust began to move.
"No!"
"Faust, where are you going?!"
"Don't go!! What if it is him?"
"Are you crazy?!" Thousands of whispers and begs and pleading called out to Faust. But he didn't listen. Or he wasn't paying attention, as his eyes were focused on the door and stairs above. Bambi and Marjorie were surprisingly silent and did not stop him, but they huddled close together, for fear of their close friend's safety. Faust made it up the stairs, but it was too late. A gunshot rang out from upstairs and everyone knew that he was dead. It was too late. They had to move.
"No! No! NO! This-this isn't happening!" Marjorie began to repeat over and over with tears as she began to panic, as Bambi tried to calm her the best she could.
"I know Marjorie. It hurts. But we have to move!!" Bambi urged as all the androids moved to the other side. Bambi continued to try and calm her old friend, but eventually snapped, starting to yell as she had to drag Marjorie to the other side.
"We were supposed to be protected!! WE WERE SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE!!!" Marjorie practically screamed through her tears.
"Shh... Shh. Marjorie please stop yelling. I know! I know it hurts! But we have to leave!!" Bambi replied.
"This is all your fault!! If you hadn't encouraged him- he-" Marjorie couldn't finish the rest of her sentence. She just began to sob and cry harder as she lied against the rusty wall of the ship. Suddenly, Ottavia came into her view.
"Marjorie!! Listen! Shh, shh. I understand you're upset. But Marjorie? Can you hear me? Marjorie? We have to keep going. We have to be quiet in order to get out. We need to leave alive. Or none of this would have been for nothing. I understand that I am human. That I am your creator and master. I understand that I didn't know Faust like you did. But you have to listen to me! Please, Marjorie!" Ottavia begged, placing her hands on the Android's shoulders, her voice quiet and her calm eyes boring into Marjorie's sad ones. She sniffles and nodded.
"Ok. I can keep going." Ottavia have her a curt nod and a warm smile, before standing up, and everyone kept walking. Until Violet froze, at the sound of footsteps. Roger's were getting louder.
"He's... he's coming." Violet whispered terrified. Then... they began to run. They had to get out before it was too late. They had to run off on different directions as his footsteps got louder. Ottavia and Lexi somehow got on top of the ship, having no idea where their loved ones were. Violet, Anastasia, Ashely, Ralph, Rupert and Crystal ran to right with others. Ashley suddenly stopped.
"Wait... where-where's Meg." Violet's eyes widened as she looked around. Meg was nowhere to be found.
Back on the top of the ship, a click of a gun terrified Ottavia and Lexi. He was here.
"A psychiatrist and a painter. Huh. God, I'd never put you two together," Roger explained in a chillily calm voice as they both turned to face him, "so tell me. How the hell did you two fall in love with those plastic freaks?!" He spat, pointing the gun at both of them.
"We just... fell in love I guess." Lexi suggested with a casual shrug, her heart pounding out of fear. This man was a murderer after all.
"That's your final answer?"
"Yes." Ottavia stated. firmly, looking at the ground, too disgusted and in pain to look up at this man. But he made her look up at him anyway, placing his gun under her chin.
"Then be prepared to die." He replied, stepping back and aiming his gun towards Ottavia first.
"NO!" Someone shouted and both woman turned to see Meg running towards the space between them.
"Meg?" Both woman questioned in disbelief.
"I won't let you hurt them!!!" She shouted before stepping in front of Roger, attempting to grab his gun.
"RUN!!!" She shouted at Lexi and Ottavia. They took the opportunity, but as they made it down the stairs, a gunshot rang out.
Willow, Carl, Markus, North, Simon, Josh and others androids took off to the right before all this. But then... Willow heard it. A gunshot. She was shaken. To frightened to move. Carl noticed this, and held out his hand.
"Come on. We have to keep moving." Willow look at him as Carl's gaze never wavered hers. She nodded, taking his hand as they ran to the exit with everyone else.
Finally outside. Everyone was relieved, but Ashley looked more worried.
"Where's Lexi, Ottavia and Meg?" Silence, and the sound of crickets in the early morning's darkness was all that could be heard. Then footsteps. Violet and everyone turned to see Lexi and Ottavia panting slightly out of breath, a small piece of blue blood on their fingertips.
"What... what happened?" Violet asked hesitantly. Lexi and Ottavia finally looked up, still out of breath, but now aware that there were many people out here looking at them.
"It's Meg. She... she didn't make it." Lexi explained with a crack in her voice. Science followed as no one knew what to say. Everyone didn't want to go back, so they kept walking into the morning light. Until the next morning. When they decided to form a plan.
Location: Lexi's Art Studio
Day: June 29th, 2042
Time: 9:30 am
With the recent attack and Faust and Meg now gone. They needed a new plan, AKA somewhere other refuge. So everyone from Jericho came the next morning to Lexi's Mansion, one of the only places that was safe at the moment, except for Safe Haven where most had gone earlier that morning.
"Ok. We all know why we're here. We need suggestions. A plan to hide and attack. So, what does everyone suggest?" Lexi started the meeting as it was her home, but she let Markus decide on what they were going to do based on suggestion. Many androids suggested many things, but none of them seemed sustainable or logical.
"How about you ask TJ if he can shelter some androids?" Violet's voice piped up through the shouts and arguing, making everyone fall silent. Lexi turned to Markus.
"It's not a bad idea." Markus admitted.
"I'll ask him after our meeting is over. Anything else?" Lexi stared quickly. Marjorie and Bambi suggested having Safe Haven as a place for refuge. Markus agreed. Ottavia suggested the most logical option of an abandoned building. It was settled. Three places for refuge. The only question was: how many could they fit in each?
Location: Sal's Pub
Time: 10:20 am
Lexi came into the bar with Violet and looked around. She then spotted TJ.
"Hey TJ." Lexi said with a sad smile, the bar was relatively quiet at this time of day.
"Hey, Lex. Hey Vi. What's wrong?" TJ asked concerned. Lexi sighed.
"Meg my roommate was killed this morning by the 'Cyberlife Killer' at Jericho. And Faust was killed as well." Lexi explained as Violet looked at the news. Connor went back to the police station to report what he learned and apparently the news station had already learned that the killer's name was Roger Malcolm.
"I'm sorry Lex. What can I do for you?" TJ said, placing his on Lexi's, making her smile.
"How many androids can you fit in the back." Lexi whispered gesturing with her head.
"Hm... about 20 or 30 people maybe. Why?"
"It isn't safe anymore. Roger came after us at Jericho. If it weren't for Meg stepping in Ottavia and I would have been dead! Listen... just... please. Help us. Please!" Lexi pleaded, continuing to whisper.
"Ok. Ok. I'll help. If it means that less lives are at stake, then that's all that matters." Lexi took in a breath and nodded, thanking him profusely before leaving the pub with Violet.
T H R E E D A Y S L A T E R...
Location: Detroit Cemetery
Day: July 3rd, 2042
Time: 10:50 am
Violet looked up at the dark sky, as rain trickled down her metallic cheeks. She spoke to her brother two days earlier about everything and she stayed there for the time being alonge with Anastasia. She learned from Kolt that the funeral was today. On this rainy, gloomy day. But Violet didn't want to attend. She didn't want to get stares for being an Android from her mother, father and sister's former coworkers at Cyberlife.
Sure, many had changed, but older employees were stuck in their ways despite the revolt of androids. Violet decided to watch the ceremony from a tree near it. She was focused on it, that she didn't hear footsteps coming from behind her.
"Mind if I join you?" She didn't jump at the voice like she would've two months ago. She recognized it now.
"Hey Markus, what are you doing here?" Violet asked casually turning to face him, before going back to watching the service. There were at least thirteen spaces saved on that plot.
"I came here to see how you're doing, and... personal reasons." Markus explained vaguely, making Violet turn to the left as he walked away bewildered.
"Wait. Personal reasons?" She asked, beginning to follow him to another gravestone and she froze.
"Carl Manfred? Your... owner?" Violet guessed hearing the name before. She knew he was a famous painter and besides, Willow and Carl both shared his last name.
"Yes. He taught me to be my own person. He was like a father to me. But I was accused of killing him." Markus explained.
"How?" Violet asked curiously, continuing to look at his gravestone.
"His son, Leo came in one day asking for money. He refused to give it to him. And Leo attacked me instead. I did nothing and Carl died of a heart attack. Leo blamed me. After all: who were the police going to believe? One of their own. Or a servant? A useless piece of plastic. Life for our people was different then. You'd know that of course, Violet." She nodded after his explanation.
"I'm sorry." She replied sincerely. Markus was beginning to talk again when his LED turned yellow.
"It's Connor. He wants me, Kara and you to come meet him." Markus explained and Violet followed, trying to take in everything Markus just said before.
Location: Roger's Nightclub, back alleyway
Time: 11:00 am
Markus, Kara and Violet all met where they were told to be by Connor.
"So, what are we doing here?" Violet questioned as it continued to pour.
"This was Roger's old business. He owned a nightclub before the Revolution." Connor explained.
"So, the Eden Club?" Violet guessed and Connor shook his head.
"No. It's like that but a completely different nightclub."
"We thought it might jog your memory about your past." Kara explained, making Violet blink in shock.
"There might be someone who can give us answers. You might remember this place." Markus added.
"Sorry. But I didn't remember anything or this place. My memory is still the same as it was two months ago. Still can't remember a damn thing. I don't see how this is-" Violet was interrupted by the sound of a tumbling trashcan.
"Hello?! Is-is anyone there?!" Violet called out as the four androids walked carefully to the sound of the noise. Violet then gasped in shock. An Android was there with yellow dyed hair, and the craziest part of all?: she looked just like Violet!
"Do you remember me... sister?"
