Scarlet, Natasha, Jean, and Carol's paths cross when they're called to detention for an incident they didn't cause. What seems like a coincidence is actually orchestrated by Professor X, a telepath who has been tracking their powers. In detention, a sudden explosion traps them in the school basement. As the girls panic, their powers activate, saving them from the collapsing ceiling.

Scarlet: (wide-eyed, holding up a shield of fire)
"This... this isn't happening! I can't control it!"

Natasha: (teleporting out of the debris and grabbing Scarlet's hand)
"We don't have time for a meltdown. Let's get out of here!"

Jean: (her eyes glowing with cosmic energy)
"No! We need to figure out who set this trap. I won't let anyone hurt my friends."

Carol: (hovering in the air, fists clenched)
"Whoever they are, they'll regret messing with us."

The girls' lives changed overnight. As their powers grew, so did the strange occurrences around campus. A mysterious organization called The Watch began keeping tabs on them, watching their every move. Fate, however, would soon bring these four together.

Scarlet entered the gym late at night, hoping to practice controlling her flames in secret, when she accidentally set the equipment ablaze. In a panic, she saw another figure teleport into the gym—Natasha.

Natasha: "What the—? Are you... like me?"
Scarlet: "I... I can't control it! Get out before it spreads!"

Just as the flames roared higher, Jean burst in, her hands glowing with cosmic energy, and pulled the fire from the room, dispersing it. Carol, flying above the gym, dropped in from the ceiling just in time to witness the commotion.

Carol: "Looks like I'm not the only one with a secret."
