Chapter three
"Ha! You talked to me." Draco said triumphantly.
"Shut up." Hermione scowled and stopped in front of the portrait which was holding up the number five on his hand.
"Hermione and Draco?" The man looked down curiously.
"Yes." Hermione confirmed.
"Please tell me the password you would like to use. Nobody will know but you two." The man said.
"You can choose." Draco struggled to get out, as if it hurt him to not choose it.
"I was going to anyways." Hermione said matter of factly, annoying Draco even further. "United."
"Alright. Your password is now "united". If you ever want to change it just let me know. Also don't worry, nobody out here will ever be able to hear what you two are doing in there. I won't either so don't be afraid to try new things." The man finished, and swung open to reveal the dorm.
"This is it?" Draco complained as he looked around.
There was a small kitchen in the far right corner, and table for them to eat at. A small corner in the back right corner closest to them contained empty bookshelves and a love seat couch. There were two desks side by side on the left side, and fireplace further into the room as well with a couch in front of it, and two single seats on either side. In the very back there was a door leading to presumably their room.
"What do you mean? This is a nice place."
"Nothing compared to my mansion."
"Oh the one that was passed down to you by your parents in Azkaban?" Hermione retorted.
"Shut up."
Hermione led the way into their bedroom and had to admit, it did look pretty nice. There was a king size bed beginning at the center of the right wall, end sticking out into the room, and comforter a rich red color. There were two closets on the left wall, and a large dresser between the two doors, presumably for the two to share. The far wall to the left had a door to the bathroom.
"Please tell me we don't have to share the bathroom." Hermione said, scanning the room for another door that hopefully contained a second bathroom.
"Hermione please. We're supposed to get married. Do you think they're going to not make us share a bathroom?" Draco rolled his eyes.
"I'm unpacking." Hermione snapped.
She began to take her clothes out of her trunk, and hung them up color coded in her closet. Doing this alone gave her time to think.
There was no way the ministry could actually expect her to do all of this with Draco right? He was her arch enemy for crying out loud. The hat must've made a mistake, she decided. She would go get it all straightened out the very next day. Satisfied with her decision, she picked up all of her toiletries and stowed them away neatly in the drawers of the bathroom.
It was a double vanity, perfectly symmetrical if folded in half. The drawers were a pretty shade of light blue, and the counter was a white marble. She turned around as something caught her eye in the huge mirror that stretched across the length of the whole vanity.
The shower was huge, with a half hexagon shape, extending out from the back of the bathroom. The downside? It was shaped by clear, see through, glass panes. Quite literally, anybody would be able to see her if she took a shower while they were in the bathroom. To the left of it was a huge empty tub, resembling the one from the prefects bathroom but slightly smaller with many faucets above it. There was a small room to the side of it, presumably containing the toilet.
Hermione couldn't decide which one was worse. Draco being able to see her clearly as she showered, or as she took a bath. However; there simply wasn't enough time to bathe before the day started. She knew this by experience. Despite how early she used to get up, she needed every precious minute of it to tame her hair.
"So." Draco said loudly, coming into the bathroom without wearing a shirt, and dropped his things messily on his side of the vanity. "Are you going to shower tonight?"
"Must you walk around without a shirt on?" Hermione asked scornfully.
"Oh come on. We're supposed to have a child together. I'm sure you can survive just my shirt off." Draco smirked. "Besides. My body looks amazing."
"Whatever." Hermione muttered. "I'm not showering tonight. I did this morning."
"I'm going to take mine now then."
"I still have to wash up." Hermione protested and looked away as he began to undress.
"Then I guess you'll have to do that while I'm showering. I'm not waiting." Draco called over his shoulder, starting his shower.
Hermione kept her eyes looking down from the mirror.
"What's this?" Draco's voice echoed from inside the shower. "Can you see me?"
Hermione hesitantly took a peek in the mirror and realized she couldn't see him anymore. The texture of the shower had changed, so only a dark blurred outline of him could be seen.
"Boo." Draco turned it off for a second so she could see him and Hermione shrieked. She ran out of the bathroom as she was done anyways, and changed into her pajamas.
Choosing to be productive, Hermione levitated her books and school things out to her desk in the common room. After meticulously organizing them, she returned to the room and got into bed with one of her favorite books. The Tales of Beetle the Bard. Now that the war was over, it was much easier to enjoy the book as she wasn't in a constant state of life or death.
"I'm done." Draco emerged from the bathroom, still with a lack of a shirt but he at least had pants on.
"What are you doing." Hermione glared as he approached her bed.
"We don't have a choice remember?" Draco reminded. He climbed into bed and Hermione caught a whiff of his scent. It made her want to lay closer to him, but she would never dare. She couldn't be actually starting to like ANY aspect of Draco Malfoy.
Shaking off her thoughts, she laid her head down on her pillow after setting an alarm and drifted into a deep sleep.
