It didn't take long for the trio to make it to Resistance H.Q, Amy then took a nap, but not before telling Silver where to drop off Joshua. 

   "Thank you very much for helping me Miss." Joshua said, surprising Amy with a bear hug.

  "You're welcome, just promise me that you are going to take care of your mom and and your little sibling when they come."

   "I promise"

   "And if you see anyone talking to Dr. Eggman, don't ever attack them on your own, you hear me? You gave me a big scare." she said smacking him on the head.

  "OW!! I promise, I promise!"

    She then turned to Silver; "Get back safely, I don't want third-degree burns because you weren't careful." He then saluted her and said goodbye."Be back in a bit Amy."

  "Stay safe."

  After they had left, Amy proceeded to her quarters to think about what she had seen in that weird vision. "What exactly was that? It couldn't have been real, everyone is alright, everyone except..."

  Her thoughts were interrupted with a knock on her door. "Amy? It's Knuckles. I wanted to make sure you were alright, what with you facing off against that masked guy and all."

  "I'm fine, I was just a little caught off guard due to not being prepared to face off against him. It actually took a lot out of me, so with your permission, I would like to enjoy a nap."

   "Permission granted, You deserve it. I'm just glad you are back safe and sound."

   "Thanks Commander."

   "No problem, just get some rest."

   "Yes sir."

   Amy honestly just wanted no one to bother her as she tried to think about what Infinite had put in her mind, but she figured that a good rest would do her some good. Take her mind off of some things, besides it's been a while since she had at least an hour of rest. She laid her head on her pillow and it didn't take long for her to fall asleep. _______________________________________________________________________________

    As Knuckles had left Amy's quarters, he got a message from an anonymous contact on his communicator "Flying in the Freedom is Unknown from M.E. ;-)" it read. He grumbled then proceeded with calling the number after reaching his quarters. "Hello~?" A seductive but familiar voice answered. "What do you want Rouge?"

"Weren't YOU the one who called ME Handsome~?" She retorted.

 "I'm hanging up now."

 "You're no fun, anyways I have some intel you might want to know about."

 "Go on."

  "Infinite, is the one who attacked Amy-"

  "That much I know."

    "At least wait for me to finish Knucklehead."

     "..."

    "Anyways, the reddish object that hangs on his chest, it can manipulate, amplify and is  powered by one's greatest fears and memories, it leaves the target completely incapacitated, in an almost lifeless trance ,and at the user's mercy. As far as I'm concerned, it isn't the only one in existence. It can also create illusions and life-like mirages "

  "Is there anyway to wake the target up from said trance?"

   "Yes, physical pain."

   "Hmph, where exactly did you get this information?

    "Two different sources, one from Eggman himself, and the other one..."

    "Rouge, who is it?" 

    "Don't over-react when I tell you this."

     "Alright."

     "Promise me."

    "*Sigh* I promise."

     "Alright, the other source is...Shadow."

     "What...?"

     "Look, I know it's hard to believe, but you have to trust me. That day it wasn't Shadow."

      "And exactly how are you going to prove this one?" 

      At that moment, there was a knock on his door; "Commander, there are reports that Shadow the Hedgehog is attacking a city nearby!" 

  "What the coordinates?" he questioned.

   "It seems to be at Red Bay Bridge, sir." 

   Knuckles went back to his communicator and whispered to Rouge; "We'll continue this later Batgirl." and hung up. He headed out and met with the raccoon that was waiting out of his quarters; "Where are the Chaotix?" "They just arrived back from training the new cadet." he answered.  "Espio! I want you to take the rest of Team Chaotix, you and Vector will take care of any Eggpawns,  Charmy will lead any civilians to safety. I'll be with you guys, but my attention will be on Shadow.  Ricky, I want you keeping look out for us and send in backup when you know we need it. Got it?"

    "Sir,yes Sir!" They exclaimed.

   "Then let's go!"

     As they was on their way out, Knuckles got a message from Anonymous (Rouge)

    "Please believe me." ________________________________________________________________________________

    The battle was a hard one, they were being pushed back and have lost contact with Ricky the Raccoon, so no back up anytime soon. And there were no civilians to be evacuated, it was as if this was planned. "Dammit, we're getting creamed out here." Knuckles thought to himself and they haven't even seen Shadow yet. So the worst is yet to come. 

    "What are we going to do?" 

    "We're done for!"

    "Commander?" Espio looked back at Knuckles for confirmation of their next move. 

    Suddenly sinister laughter emerged from behind the Resistance; "Fools, you actually heeded the call? How noble of you. Too bad that nobility leads to your doom." Infinite said as he and Eggman threw attacks towards them. Luckily they managed to dodge it. Soon enough they were caught in a barrage of their assaults. 

  "How did they know that there was S.O.S?" Espio questioned aloud.

   "Oh, I don't know, it could've been the spy we have planted in your despicable Headquarters! Vermin! HOHOHOHO-"

  "Spy?" Knuckles thought to himself, it couldn't have been, she wouldn't!

   "You foolish Doctor! Why would you tell them that we have a spy?! That was our only chance to catch them off guard!" 

   Angered, Knuckles used his Shoveled Claw to get rid of all the remaining robots surrounding him and the Chaotix. "Who is it?" He growled. "Tell me who the traitor is RIGHT NOW YOU BASTARDS!!!" He ordered. "Knux? I know that you're hurt and angry, but you gotta keep a cool head, they want you angry, don't give in, K?" Vector called out.

  "If my assumption is correct, then it's an angry Knuckles they're going to get!"

 "Well, well. It seems that the Commander is more broken up about this than I had thought, that's surprising, they are nothing but a pawn to help me get closer to my goal-UGH!!!" In that split second, his mask had met Knuckles' fist. "Nothing but a pawn, huh? DON'T YOU DARE TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT!!!" He cried out giving out a full barrage of fists and even kicks.

   "Her? What are you talking about, echidna?" Eggman asked from a safe distance.

 "Huh?" Infinite saw an opening and attacked with a foot to the echidnas' stomach. "OOF!!" He was sent flying towards the ground, luckily the Chaotix was able to catch him, to prevent any serious injuries. "You stupid animal, how dare you attack me like that, I'll make sure you pay." 

 "CHAOS CONTROL!" 

  At that moment time stopped, well at least Eggman and Infinite did. "What the-?" "This could only mean one thing... Are we supposed to treat you as friend or foe, Shadow?" The said hedgehog emerged from rubble not far from Infinite. "Considering that I just saved you all from this weakling, you could say I'm friend."  Espio nodded; "Well thank you for your assistance, how long do you think you can hold them?" He asked the now struggling hedgehog. "Not long." "Alright then, we're headed back to HQ, Vector."

  "Already on it." The croc said picking up Knuckles.

   "Are you okay Commander?" Charmy asked worried.

   "D-don't worry about me pointy butt, I'll be fine." He then looked towards Shadow. "Tha-"

  "Save your breath, I need to concentrate, hurry up and get out of here."

   The Resistance wasted no time heading back to their base.

  It took Silver longer than expected returning the child to his mother, especially when all she could do was squeeze the white hedgehog as hard as she could after doing the same to her own pup. Not a lot of people were there to begin with, considering they had all left for Knothole, as per were Amy's instructions, but some had refused to leave, worried for the pup and his mother respectively. After saying their goodbyes, Silver headed back toward Resistance H.Q. 

     Luckily, there was no trouble getting back. But he had a funny feeling in the pit of his stomach after leaving the civilians. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but this funny feeling involved Amy and the guy he took Sonic out. The feeling became more unsettling, so he had flown as fast he could towards his friends. 

   As he approached their home base, he could faintly hear frantic voices through the 3 in thick door; "Oh man! What are we going to do?! What are we going to do?" One voice asked. "Shut up! I'm trying to think..." Fearing the worst, Silver quickly entered the password that was required for entry. "What's going on? Is everything alright?" He asked.

   The monkey and raccoon that were talking had stiffened, and all of the color had left their bodies, as if they've seen a ghost. Silver started looking around; "Where is Commander Knuckles?" They both looked at each other, then nodded. "Commander Knuckles and the Chaotix have been in intercepted by Infinite and Dr. Eggman!!" The raccoon answered.

  "What?! What are their coordinates?!" He ordered.

  "They-" At that moment, the Mobians in question entered the room, beaten and battered, one more than others. Silver immediately rushed over to their side. "Are you guys alright?!" He asked checking their wounds. Setting Knuckles down, Vector explained everything that had happened. "First he attacks Amy, then the rest of our core staff. Do you guys think that this is a thought out assault from the Empire?" "Even with an I.Q of 300, I think that this is too advanced for Eggman to think of without help from that Infinite. Which reminds me..." Espio headed over to the monkey and the raccoon talking amongst themselves.

   "What happened out there?" He asked them. 

    "What do you mean sir?" 

    "Don't play dumb with me, our calls were going through, either you guys weren't at your post, or you were just ignoring our calls of help." He growled.

  "Sir. we lost-"

   "Don't give me with that bullshit! We contacted Amy's communicator and it rang. The only reason why she didn't answer is because she is asleep! So what is your reasoning for not answering us?!" ________________________________________________________________________________

     "I have to get out of here, the Doctor's robot's I can handle, but..."

  Shadow had no choice but to release Chaos Control. Luckily it was the first time Infinite was hit by that kind of attack, and Eggman's robots' circuits went array, and in the confusion, Shadow took his chance to escape. "What just happened?" Infinite asked. "Shadow is what happened." Eggman answered. "He is able to tap into the Chaos Force and can manipulate the Force and create different attacks, the one he used on you earlier was Chaos Spear, a melee attack. The move he used just now was called "Chaos Control"; he can stop his surroundings for a limited amount of time, and he can use it to teleport."

   "What power... Tell me Doctor, are you able to give me that kind of upgrade?"

  "I could certainly try, but I would need a Chaos Emerald in order to do so."

  "Chaos Emerald?" 

  "I'll explain when we get back to the lair, let's go."

Shadow wasn't able to get far when he released Chaos Control. SO he had no choice but to hide. "Damn Doctor, giving out all of my information like that...I had better wait until they leave."

  Luckily his partner was already on the way. And boy was she angry. ________________________________________________________________________________

    Hey guys. I'm glad that I'm on to these chapters more. Like I said in "The Mark" I don't think that Sally is is bitch, I honestly lover her and she and the rest of the Knothole Freedom Fighters will be in the next chapter.
