Chapter 23 ➼ The Last Tea Party!
Chapter 23, The Last Tea Party!
One more day until my wedding day to Laurie. I was so excited that I could hardly sleep the past few nights. I wondered where Laurie planned for us to go on a honeymoon.
He said he had something special planned out. But he had yet to tell me where we were going after our wedding was over. I had my bags all packed for traveling. I had a feeling I was going to be traveling over seas with him.
I was more over joyed about becoming his wife. And I nearly wrote a page long for his wedding vows.
I had so much on my heart to say on our special day. I knew it was going to be a be a day I was never ever going to forget. Tonight though before our wedding I was not going to be allowed to see Laurie.
Not during the whole day today. It was bad luck to lay eyes on the groom before the wedding. Now if Laurie minded that rule before the wedding.

"You must stay inside today Fiona. And you must not go near a window or he will be peaking out at you" warns Amy. "You must not have bad luck for this big event"
"No you are right Amy" I agree with her as wink at Jo.
She laughs.
"This is no laughing matter Jo" warns Amy. "She has never been excited about weddings. Fred and I plan so much and we have to deal with Jo. You know and I know Laurie will try his best to come see you. He will claim it is urgent. And ruin it all" she tells me. She had a point. He would do that.
"I can not blame the boy for wanting to see our beautiful Fiona" jokes Jo.
"You have my word he will not see the likes of me before our wedding day" I promise her.
"John did not see me. And our wedding day went smoothly" brags Meg.
"It would not have if it were not for Jo" reminds Amy as Jo makes a face at her.
"I just do not like change is all. But now as I grew up I have come to see change in life has to happen. If we like it or if we do not like it" Jo reflects.
"What should we do on this day to celebrate our last night with Fiona here?" Meg wonders out loud.
"I do love a good tea party, I always had them alone or with my Nana as a kid. I never had sisters to have a fancy tea with" I point out. Amy hugs me.
"Dear girl! You shall have the best tea party this side of Concord" jokes Amy.
"I shall go help make treats with Hannah" declares Meg. "This will be even better then at the Muffets!"
"Capital!" Announces Jo.
"Jo! Such slang!" grumbles a displeased Amy.

I sit near the window forgetting that I was not supposed to be by a window. I was alone for a bit, and I was rereading what I wrote for my vows. I began to say them out loud to hear how it sounded. Imagining Laurie was in front of me. And feeling so teary eyed.
But a happy kind of crying. I felt so in love. I never felt this way. I felt loved by him. Loved by my wonderful family. I knew my parents were smiling and looking down on me from the heavens to have me here. They sent me here. I knew I was meant to be here!
I was so blessed.
I hear beautiful music being played next door, I knew it was Laurie playing the piano. I peak out from the curtain. I can see him playing. Was he playing in hopes I might hear him?
Maybe he was playing for me. He knew I loved it when he played. I felt so relaxed standing there listing to him. I lean on the window as I watched.

"Shame, shame! By the window" laughs Jo. I blush seeing I was caught there.
"Sorry, I could not help but hear him play" I softly say.
"He dropped this off for you. He knew he was not allowed to see you" Jo tells me as she hands me a hand written note from him.
I eagerly grab it from her and open it to read.
It read:
To My Beloved,
We can not see each other until tomorrow. But you can hear me. I am playing a song for you my love. Expressing my feelings through my music, so when you hear me playing know it is for you. And I am thinking of you tonight. And I cannot wait to spend forever with you my sweet Fiona. I love you my darling. I can't wait to kiss my new wife tomorrow.
Yours, Laurie
Happy tears come to me. He was playing for me. We were so in tune with one another. We knew each other's heart so well. I brush a tear back. I listened to him play.
As did Jo. She smiled as Meg comes up the stairs with an pot of tea. And then Amy comes up with Hannah bringing cookies too!
We begin to chatter away as we enjoy the lovely music. Amy pours me tea.

"One lump or two?" She asks me about the sugar.
"Two please" I tell her. She nods.
"One cookie or three?" Jokes Meg.
"Four!" I laugh. She laughs to.
I notice Jo was in the corner reading my vows to Laurie. I reach up snatching them from her.
"That is private!" I exclaimed.
"Well, you wanted sisters this is what it is like" remarks Amy.
"No, privacy with Jo around" adds Meg.
Jo laughs as her cheeks turn red.
We laugh and have a wonderful tea party. This was the perfect way to end my single life. Now I looked forward to married life with Laurie. He would be in the March family as we always knew he should be!
