Chapter 19 ➼ Wedding Dresses
Chapter 19 ➼Wedding Dresses
So it turned out he had come back for Jo as I had hoped he would do. Now they were planning on getting married! Now Jo had a wedding of her own to plan.
I could not belive our Jo was going to be getting married. Or even wanted to get married. It was amazing. I was thrilled. And Laurie was fine with it so that made everyone happy.
I did not get what Jo saw in the Professor but he was nice to Jo. He was loving to her and that was all that mattered to me. That Jo was happy. Meg came in. She had letters for us from Amy.
And news from her. We all joined in the reading room to read over our letters together. We were up in the attick where Meg had something to show me. That was the reading and writing room.
We read over our letters. Amy was coming home for her wedding to! And so was Aunt March.

"Grand about Amy coming home. But Aunt March" sighs Jo. "Oh well"
"Aunt March sends you something for your upcoming wedding day in case we get there late but we are hoping to arrive there on time" I read at the end of my letter. "Meg will hand it over to you now"
"This!" Meg announced to me. She grabs a box from under the couch there we were sitting on.
"What is that? Oh my!" I gasp. I knew what is was. This was the box my mothers wedding dress was in. I grab it then open it up. Tears of joy come to me. "How did you guys do this?" I stammer with joy.
"We had a feeling you were sad about this. Before we went dress hunting" says Meg. "I wrote to Amy and Aunt March asking for the dress"
"Oh you are wonderful!" I laugh as I hug them both. This made me tear up. I was so happy.
"Such a pretty dress" says Jo as I show it to them. I carefully try it on. I was the right size for it. Like my mother on her wedding day to my father.
"It fits like a dream" I gush with joy.
We look at my image in the mirror. The dress shimmered. It was so pretty. It was pefect. I loved it. I saw my mother wear this dress in photos of the wedding day.
Now here I was wearing the dress. I could not beleive it. It felt like my mother was here looking over me. I felt her spirit for the first time in a long time.
It felt good.

"I think auntie approves in heaven" says Jo.
"You feel her to?" I ask.
Jo nods as they hug me.
"We are all going to be married! Our little family will not be little" I laugh.
"You are right" argrees Jo.
"But that is a great thing we will have one another to lean on" says Meg.
"Always!" I answer her with a nod and a smile.
"Nothing, is more important then family" I say.
Marmee comes in here then spots me wearing the dress. She looks teary eyed.
"Look at you" she breaths out. "you look like your mother on her wedding day" says Marmee. "I was there then"
"Tell me all about it?" I beg her.
"It was a large wedding. And everyone was happy she found someone like your father. He was a a good match. And they were not planned like most weddings were then. She was thankful to marry for love" says Marmee. "your father made sure the wedding went perfectly and your mother had nothing to worry over but other than happiness. And she had the best day. A week or so later they found they were having you" she explains to me. "they were overjoyed"
"Oh how lovely" I say as I brush back tears of joy.
Someone is coming up. I gasp. Jo hands me a blanket in case I needed to cover the dress up. It was Uncle. He comes in. He sees me with his sisters dress on. He gets teary eyed to.
•✿
"She looks like my Jen" says Uncle. "you have grown up Fiona like your mother" he tells me.
"Thank you" I say gratefully. "I better change so no one else accidentally sees me in this dress" I laugh.
I excuse myself then go change out of the dress in my bedroom. I was happy to have the perfect dress. I place the dress in my closet.
Hanging it up. I was happy Amy would be coming home to us now as well. To have her wedding. It was going to be a fun time to be celebrating.
"I hear you found the perfect dress huh?" Laurie comes in and I shut the closet so he can not see the dress. "I also got a letter from Amy that she was coming home"
"Yes she sent me my mother's wedding gown. You will love it" I tell him.
"Let me see" he begs me.
"It is bad luck" I warn him.
"No, I do not beleive in that. We make our own luck" he scoffs.
"Laurie..."I sigh.
He laughs pulling me in for a hug.
•✿
"I can't wait to spend everyday with you. Go, to bed every night with you" he says to me. "wake to having you at my side"
"You won't grow sick of me?" I joke.
"Never!"
"You say that now" I tease.
"I plan to love you forever" he softly promises me. "I always keep my promises"
"I do to. We happen to have the same plan" I joke. He smiles at me.
"Good" he answers me.
He kisses me.
"Have you found what you plan to wear to the wedding?" I ask.
"Yes, grandfather helped with that" says Laurie.
"Come join us we are going to have pie" calls out uncle from downstairs.
We all head down to join him. John, Friedrich, and Laurie chat about men's wedding tradtiions. Meg is chatting with Marmee about the babies.
Jo is scarfing down a piece of pie so she can soon get another. I smile looking on at my family as I get my own peice of pie. Blueberry. Yum. I join my family.
These were the happiest times in our lives. And I have a feeling things were going to keep getting better and better. Hard times were finally past the March family.
