Teamwork Makes The Dream Work

"Uhhhh..." Amity groaned once the two were outside of Princple Bump's office.

"What's wrong?" Luz asked, a lot if nervousness in her voice.

"Nothing, I just really don't want to do this right now... but if I don't, Principle Bump will probably send me to detention which really isn't something I want to happen," The mint haired girl explained, "So let's just get this over with quickly.

Amity tugged at the Latina girl's hand and they began speaking walking across the hallway.

She took her around to see all of the different classrooms, from maths to literacy and everything in between.

When Amity was showing her around the art rooms, Luz stopped in front of the paintings once again. The mint-haired girl was walking at the time but then she stopped too.

"What? Is art your favourite subject or something?" Amity asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah, look at these cool sketches I drew!" Luz replied.

She slung her backpack off her shoulder and then crouched down to unzip it. She rummaged around until she found her sketchbook. She then opened it up and showed the girl a sketch of herself, dressed like The Good Witch Azura.

The mint haired girl gasped and then covered her mouth. What Luz didn't know was that she was an Azura fan too...

"What, is something wrong?" Luz asked, a little worried as she scanned the drawing for any smudges or leftover dust from a rubber.

"No, it's just I think your a bit of a amateur and that I'm so much better at art then you!" Amity explained, her eyebrows arched and a smug smile on her face.

The Latina girl frowned but then suddenly, she felt a new sense of confidence. And with that she said, "Alright then, so where is your 'masterpiece' on this wall then?"

Although Amity now knew that this new girl liked The Good Witch Azura too, she felt too embarrassed to admit it.

"I... it's none of your business," Amity mumbled, sighing to herself and looking towards the ground.

Luz then decided to mimic the face the mint-haired girl had just used, it was then where she got back her confidence.

"Forget it, forget you! Find your own way back to your new, nerdy friends," Amity said as she turned her back on her, but then she quickly turned back to say one last thing, "And don't follow me!"

The Latina girl already felt immediate regret. She tried to catch up with the mint-haired girl to apologise but then she turned back at hissed like a cat. From the unexpectancy of it, Luz screamed and ran to the opposite direction.

After that, Luz then found herself lost in the endless hallways of the school.

"Hello, is anyone here?" Luz asked nervously, continuing to stroll down the path.

Suddenly, she felt a tap at her back.

"Boo!" Two voices said from behind her.

"Ahhhhhh!" Luz screamed and fell over.

She landed on the floor and bumped her head. The latina girl had to resist screaming in pain now that she knew people were around and would see her.

"Whoops, sorry, we didn't know we were going to frighten you!" A familiar, feminine voice said and held out a hand.

Luz took her hand and then realised the two who had scared her were Willow and Gus!

"Oh, no need to worry!" Luz said, although she was still a little frightened after.

"Anyway, where have you been? We've been looking everywhere for you!" Gus asked.

"Oh, I was just called to Principle Bump's office and he asked Amity to show me around!" She summarised.

"So... what do you think of Amity?" Willow asked, looking a little indifferent after hearing the mint haired girl's name.

"Uhhhhh, I don't know, she doesn't seem very nice..." Luz replied, a lot of uncertainty in her voice but she knew one thing, she definitely didn't want to be around Amity ever again.

Willow then looked down at her green watch and gasped.

"What's wrong?" The latina girl asked worriedly, concerned for her new friend.

"We are going to be late to the first lesson!" Willow explained, "Do you know where your first lesson is?"

"Yeah, I'm sure I d-" Luz had placed the timetable she was given from her mother a few days prior in her pocket, but now it had seemed to vanish, "I guess I don't have it then,"

Willow was about to panic but then Gus decided to step in.

"No need to worry, Willow, remember what one if the staff told us when we were looking for Luz?" Gus asked.

The bushy haired girl put a finger to her chin in thought for a few seconds and then she remembered.

"Oh right, we both have art first!" Willow explained.

"That's great, at least I won't get lost then!" Luz replied, grabbing hold of the bushy haired girl's left hand.

"Okay Gus, we'll see you later then!" Willow waved.

"Yeah, see you then!" Gus waved back and then ran off, down what seemed like an endlessly long corridor.

With that, The two girls ran off quickly to the classroom. It was on the opposite side of the building to where they were so they had to be as fast as possible.

Just as they reached the corridor that the class was on, the late bell began to ring.

"The bell chimes six times so we should make it!" Willow imformed briskly, using her other hand to wipe sweat that was dripping down her cheek.

Luckily, the two managed to make it by the last belt chime, but the teacher did not look at all impressed.

"You two just made it before the last bell chime, but that is incredibly late!" The art teacher said in a serious tone.

"I'm so sorry, my name is Luz Noceda!" I said, putting my hand out to shake.

The teacher glared at her and then walked away, leaving her hanging. The Latina girl looked down at the floor in disappointment, her bushy haired friend parting her on the shoulder reassuringly.

With that, Willow walked over and sat down in her seat, Luz doing the same because the seat next to her was empty.

"Class, today we are making clay models. And they can be of anything!" The teacher explained.

Luz then leaned closer to Willow and whispered, "He hasn't introduced himself yet, has he not realised I'm new here?"

"He probably has, we did have a new kid recently and teacher didn't introduce himself to them either, his name is-" Willow explained but was then shortly cut off.

"Willow, no back chatting about me!" The art teacher shouted, death staring at the girl with his hazel brown eyes.

"Sorry Professor Hermonculus!" Willow apologised.

After that, the teacher explained a bit more about what they would be making but Luz wasn't really paying attention. She has noticed that Amity was also in the same class, and she was not at all happy.

"Class, get to work!" Professor Hermonculus announced.

This startled Luz because she wasn't listening to everything he was saying and she didn't even know what to do.

"Pssssst, Willow! What are we doing?" The Latina girl asked.

"We're making clay sculptures out of some smooth, purple clay! We always do purple because that is Professor Hermonculus' favourite colour!" Willow explained.

The art teacher then when around the class, giving each student a blob of purple clay. Luz was not at all impressed.

"And remember class, whoever makes the best sculpture will get a star badge! But I doubt anyone could manage to take it off of our top student, Amity Blight!" Professor Hermonclus stated.

"That's just a tiny bit of clay, that's not enough to make a masterpiece! And I bet he's giving Amity extra," Luz complained.

"It's fine, we all get used to making due with what we have. But you know, we could just merge our clay together and make a sculpture bigger and better that Amity's, if you want to?" Willow suggested.

Amity could hear her name being mentioned so she looked across the classroom. When she saw Willow and Luz chatting, she began gritting her teeth in annoyment.

"You mean like, a team?" Luz asked, beaming at her new friend.

"Yeah!" Willow replied, grinning.

Luz pumped her fist in the air with excitement. In every school that she had ever been to, no one had ever wanted to work with her. But now, she finally has real friends and work as a real team!

With that, Luz and Willow pushed their two pieces of clay together. Then, they began deciding what they wanted to make.

Once the lesson was done, Professor Hermonculus then went around and graded each piece of art. He was obviously very impressed with Amity's work.

"Excellent job Amity, what a wonderful sculpture!" Professor Hermonculus congratulated, clapping his hands.

The sculpture that she made in question was actually a star, to symbolise how obvious it was that she would end up keeping the star badge that she always has.

Professor Hermonculus then checked all of the other tables before checking Luz and Willow's. But when he got to them, he was still impressed.

"Well done Luz and Willow, this is the first time someone has ever worked as a team in my class so I am very proud of you two!" Professor Hermonculus congratulated.

Luz and Willow high-fived and Amity went red in the face with anger. Then, Professor Hermonculus went back to Amity and unclipped the star badge from her uniform. He then walked back over to the two girls' table and gave the badge to Willow.

"Keep up the good work!" He added and then walked off.

After that, the class ended and everyone left. Luz and Willow both have quite similar timetables so they stuck together for most of the day. But so did Amity, although she was just trying her best to ignore the pair.

When school was finally over, Luz waved goodbye to Willow and Gus before heading off.
But rather than going home, she decided to go over to The Owl House. She knew Camila wouldn't be home yet and Eda is a great listener when it comes to venting to her.
When Luz arrived, Eda was casually scrolling through videos on TikTok while also scratching underneath King's chin.
King is a dog that Eda had found in streets and decided to take him in. He has this weird skull-like thing on his head though and no one knows how to take it off of his head.
"Hello there Luz, come on in!" Eda greeted her as soon as she realised she was there.
The Latina girl waved back and then walked over to sit down on a chair.
"So, how was your first day at school?" The lady with big and bushy great hair asked.
King then went over to Luz and led down on her lap.
"Today was good, I made some new friends!" Luz announced, grinning widely.
"That's great, I haven't heard you say that in a long time!" Eda replied.
And she was right. Before Willow and Gus, Luz's only friends were Camila, Eda, King, Hooty and Owlbert. She has tried making friends in the past but no one wanted to reciprocate.
"But, there is this girl I don't like..." The Latina girl mumbled.
"Who is it?" Eda asked, getting out her crystal ball.
"Amity Blight," Luz said.
"Ohhhh, Amity Blight. She's the daughter of Odalia and Alador!" Eda remembered.
"You mean like, Odalia and Alador Blight? They're the rich founders on Blight Industries, the weapon making company!" Luz couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I know right, but anyway, let me see what your future will be like with Amity..." Eda announced.
Luz then watched as Eda swiftly moved her hands around the crystal ball and uttered spells and words of enchantment. When the lady got a glimpse of the future, she immediately gave Luz a smug face.
"What?" Luz exclaimed, looking both confusion and frustrated.
"Nothing~" Eda replied, still smiling smugly as I'd she had just saw something that would end up embarrassing the girl.
"Whatever, I think I'll head back now!" Luz mumbled, picking up the now sleeping dog snd putting him on the floor.
"Okay, byyeeeee!" Eda waved goodbye.
