The Zap Trap Dragon

HICCUP'S POV
I suck in trying to make up for the air that got knocked out of me. I sit up and lean back against the bolder, rubbing my arms and back of my head where knots and bruises are already forming. I notice a small figure lying on the ground.

"Astrid!" I call hurrying over to her. I hold my hand out to help her up. She takes it, but pulls me down instead. She rises and kicks me in the groin, hard.

"Agh! Ow! What? Why?" I wail in pain.

"That's for the paint and not paying attention to where you were going."

I take slow, deep breaths before getting tentatively back on my feet.

"Why we're you on Dragon Island anyway?" I ask.

"I was trying to tell you I saw Dagor's ships over where I was." she explains.

"Then where's Fishlegs? Wasn't he helping you?"

"Yeah. He stayed to finish marking the remaining dragons on our island."

I nod skimming our surroundings.

"Where are we?" I ask.

"How should I know. I was following you." she spits at me. I roll my eyes and begin walking.

"Hiccup? What are you doing?" She questions jogging to catch up with me.

"Seeing if there are any new dragons. Go head back to Berk. I'm going to look around for a little bit first."

"Then I'm coming with you."

I sigh and nod at her deciding there's no harm in it. She's going to get what she wants any way. She usually does.

We stop at the edge of a hill that over looks the island. A small stream snakes its' way through the continuing woods at the base of the hill. I pull my miniature telescope I made, out of Toothless's saddle bag.

"Do you see anything?" Astrid asks watching me.

"No. Not yet at least."

She pouts next to me waiting. Toothless turns his attention back to the woods behind us, letting out a low growl. Stormfly swishes her long tail back and forth, cocking her head to each side detecting what ever it is that's bothering Toothless. A loud roar rumbles near by. Astrid and I get down, laying flat on the ground. I look a her worried.

"Please tell me you know that dragon call." she whispers.

I shake my head. Our dragons stand in protective stances in front of us.

"What do we do?" Astrid asks.

"I'm thinking."

"Well, think faster." she scolds.

Three massive dragons step out of the shadows. They resemble a mix of a Change Wing and a Monsterous Nightmare. Their skin a brownish-red color.

"Ok. I've got it. When they get about five feet away, you distract them while I get my shield from Toothless. Take Inferno." I say unhooking my sword from my right pant leg and handing it to her.

She nods in understanding, taking the sword. The three unknown dragons leap forward spewing hot flames in our direction. The leader jumping on top of Toothless, knocking him on to his back. Toothless claws at the dragons throat eventually gaining enough leverage to send it flying back into the tree line. The other two charge forward as the leader makes it back on to its' feet.

"Ok. New plan." I say. "Run!"

We make a beeline down the hill, sprinting through the trees. I hear screeches and howls as Toothless and Stormfly fight off the others.

"What about our dragons?" Astrid questions running beside me.

"Just keep moving." I instruct. "If we worry about them, then they fighting off the other dragons will be for nothing."

"Hiccup! To your left!"

I see the leader perusing us, closing in quickly. I stagger to the right in fear.

"Come on!" Astrid cheers running a little ahead of me. I notice the other tie dragons retreat, Toothless and Stormfly bounding toward us to help.

"Look!"

I point to them so that Astrid will see. They are still quite a ways away though. My metal foot hits a rock causing me to fall, sprawling out on the ground.

"Hiccup!" Astrid calls turning back for me. "Get up. Hurry." she urges grabbing my hand.

The dragon lands in front of us. Astrid begins running again still pulling me up off the ground. I stumble again not completely on my feet yet. The red dragon howls, white lightning escaping its' mouth. The bolts hit our bodies, electrocuting us.

I think back to when I was 16. The first time I got hit by lightning. I was trying to prove to the village that Toothless was not the reason for the storm.

Our bodies convulse on the ground. I manage to look over at Astrid's crumpled form before blacking out.
