The Yule Ball

The next day was a Hogsmeade trip. George and I were planning on going with Fred and Lee, but they ditched us... Again.

Oh well.

We, of course, went to the Three Broomsticks first, and ran into Cedric.

"How's the arm?" George asked, with none of his former steeliness from last year.

"All healed. How are you two doing?" Cedric asked in response.

"Perfect." I said.

We went inside, and Hagrid was there, so we sat with him.

"How are yeh doin' George?" he asked.

"Good, you?" George replied.

"Alright. Who's this? She your girlfriend?" Hagrid teased.

"No, I'm Cora Malfoy. We're just friends, and I am currently staying with the Weasleys." I said quickly.

"But las' year I saw 'im kiss yeh." Hagrid teased still.

"He slipped me a love potion that day." I said, casting George a sideways glance.

We left the pub, and we sat in the forest for a while.

"So, we're telling everyone after Christmas, right?" George asked, for the fifth time.

"Yes, after everyone who leaves gets back." I replied, laying my head on his shoulder since no one was watching. He put an arm around me, and we just sat there in silence for a while.

"Why don't we go to Honeydukes, and just spend the rest of the day there?" George suggested.

"Of course." I smiled, letting him help me up.

When we got to Honeydukes, it seemed like everyone was there.

That evening in the common room, George and I were the only ones left awake.

My head was on his shoulder, and his arm was around my shoulders while my arm was around his waist.

"Do we really have to wait until after Christmas?" he asked, yet again.

"That, or we could break up now." I smiled.

"Ok, we're waiting." he laughed.

"I'm going to bed."

I stood, and he kissed me before letting me go to bed.

When I got upstairs, I thought about what everyone's reaction would be when they found out about me and George.

The next morning in the Great Hall, Professor McGonagal announced that the Yule Ball would take place on Christmas Day.

Everyone in the Great Hall started chattering with excitement.

Throughout the day, all the guys had been trying to get dates. Us girls had taken to staying in groups so we wouldn't be bothered every time we show our faces.

After the last class of the day, I was walking by myself, because I was tired of people. That's when Cedric showed up.

"Hi Cora!" he said.

"Hello Cedric." I replied.

"So I was wondering, would you like to go to the Yule Ball with me?" he questioned me.

"Um... I'm already going with someone, I'm really sorry Cedric." I replied.

"I-it's fine Cora." he told me, but his tone of voice said otherwise.
