The Sorting and the Feast
The Sorting and the Feast
When we got off the train, I ended up walking with Draco and his friends.
"How did the train ride go?" he asked.
"Good. I met a few people." I replied.
"Ok, well have fun. And don't worry about the sorting."
"I won't."
Then I found my way back to Harry, Ron and Hermione. I road in the same boat as them as well. When we got to the castle, I was in shock. I had never seen anything more massive. When we were left in the Entrance Hall, we stood there talking.
Finally we were led into the Great Hall where the Sorting would take place.
We stood as a group and stepped forward when our names were called. I wasn't paying attention untill one name caught my attention.
"Draco Malfoy." said Professor McGonagal.
When Draco sat down and the hat hardly touched his head, it yelled, "Slytherin!"
With a smile, Draco went to sit with his new friends.
"Cora Malfoy!" Of course I was next. I heard Ron's quick intake of breath as he whispered, "She's a Malfoy? She don't act it."
I sat on the stool, and thought about how much my parents would hate me if I'm not in Slytherin, but I was interrupted by the voice of the Sorting hat in my head.
Do you actually care whether they hate you or not, because it seems to me as though you like the fact that they hate you.
Of course I like the fact that they hate me, and I don't want to be in Slytherin, but I'm not smart enough to be in Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff normally has kids that aren't shy, or nervous like me, but you have to be brave to be in Griffindor.
Do not underestimate yourself, young one. You would surprise yourself how well you would fit in with the people in Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and...
"Griffindor!" the sorting hat said the last word aloud. Draco shot me a look that said, "We will figure this out."
Everyone went into shock, just like I am in now.
More than one person was whispering, "A Malfoy in Griffindor?"
I wnt tothe very end of the Griffindor table to sit on my own, but three red heads followed me. I had a pretty good guess they were Ron's brothers.
"Percy Weasley." the oldest said, offering a hand for me to shake. I could tell that I wasn't going to like him at all. He was too proper.
"I'm Fred." siad one of the other two, who, by then, I realized were twins.
"And I'm George." said the last.
Fred sat across from me, and Percy sat by him. George sat next to me. Wow, Weasleys have this way of making you feel really awkward. Maybe it was my claustrophobia.
Ron came and sat by George, and pretty soon, Harry sat by him.
The one I talked to the most though, was George.
"So, how do you think your parents will react when they find out what house you're in?" he asked.
"Well, they already hate me, like the rest of my family. The only one who doesn't hate me is my twin brother Draco."
"Ok, so it won't make a difference, but if you hang out with us, your dad will probably hang you."
"Oh well. I don't care what he thinks."
"Well, they will probably disown you."
"I hope they do. I don't want to go back. Ever. I've considered running for years, Draco just talked me out of it every time."
"We could find out if you could come to my place instead." I was shocked by his response.
"There's a possibility that your parents would be ok with that with my parents hating them so much?"
"My parents would find it funny, and a way to aggravate yours more."
"Good point." I looked around. "I am going to get so very lost here."
"Not if you ask me for help. Me and Fred here know our way around better than Dumbledor him self."
"Ok. By the way, how many kids are in your family?"
"7. Ginny, our sister, Ron, Fred, me, Percy, Bill, already graduated and works at Gringotts, and Charlie, who takes care of dragons in Romania."
"That's a lot."
"We manage."
"My parents, the only reason they haven't disowned me yet, is the fact that I can cook."
"That's very sad."
"I don't have the same beliefs as them. They want me to believe that money is the most important thing in the world. I think courage, friendship, and family matter more."
"Very true."
"My entire family, aunts, uncles, cousins, they all hate me. Except Draco. He claims that me asking him for anything, like to get our parents to stop yelling at me, or to pack my stuff for me, or anything, is his weakness."
Then it was time to go to our dormitory. I ended up following Hermione, because I would get lost if I didn't.
When we got to the common room, I sat in a quite corner of the room. George came over to bother me though.
"Why are you over here, away from all the fun?" he asked, grinning.
"I am antisocial." I replied.
"You weren't at the feast."
"That's because I know you... Sorta."
"Well, if you need anything, just let me know."
"Thanks George. I will."
