The Owl and Diagon Alley
The Owl and Diagon Alley
One morning, I was the first one up. I set to work fixing breakfast for everyone. That was the only reason my parents, Lucius and Narcissa, haven't disowned me, is my cooking skills.
When they woke up, all I got was harsh words, but that didn't faze me. I was in to good of a mood.
When Draco got up, he was a little grumpy too.
"What has you so hyper this morning?" he muttered.
"The owls from Hogwarts should be coming soon!" I laughed.
Sure enough, right after I said that, two owls flew in and dropped letters in front of me and Draco. They contained a list of our school supplies, classes, and other boring information.
"We'll go to Diagon Alley tomorrow." my father said.
Draco and I went upstairs to talk, so our parents wouldn't over hear our conversation.
"What house do you want to be in?" I asked him.
"Slytherin. You?"
"I don't know. Not Hufflepuff, because there's nothing special about them really. Not Ravenclaw, because I'm too stupid. To be in Slytherin, I would have to be more like mother and father, wouldn't I?"
"I don't know, Cora."
"I think, with my courage, I'm more likely to be placed in Griffindor."
"Then they would really disown you."
"I know, but it's true. They already hate me for some reason."
"I don't, and no matter what house you're placed in, I will support you. Nothing can change that."
"Thanks Draco."
"That's what big brothers are for."
The next day, we went to Diagon Alley. My parents bought us all the required supplies such as, books, robes, cauldrons, and things like that. The last thing we got was our wands.
It took going through almost every wand in the store to get one to choose me. My wand ended up being 9 inches, made of walnut with a unicorn hair core.
We were allowed to have some money and walk around by ourselves for a while, so we did. What surprises me was that Draco isn't ashamed to be seen with me . Most brothers would be.
We just talked about our parents and how much they hate me, and we tried to analyze why.
"I mean, what did I do wrong?" I asked.
"Nothing. Maybe they hate you because you weren't supposed to happen."
"No, it's something else. Something they know that we don't. Maybe there is some kind of prophecy about me, and they don't like it."
"That's actually a really good guess."
When we got home, Draco helped me pack my stuff up for school.
For the rest of the summer, we just hung out and talked about random things.
My parents started getting meaner and meaner as we got closer to school.
I was really just getting tired of it, so I couldn't wait for school to start. My parents did let me get a puppy, and it was a golden retriever, and I named him Rusty.
Then the day finally came for us to go to platform 9 and 3/4.
