The First Task

The First Task

The next day, we had a free day. It was just after breakfast, and nearly everyone was in the co, mon room, gossiping about the previous night. George was picking on me again.

"George, I will not be the test subject for any of your potions." I laughed, changing the subjcet from homework, because he had been trying to get me to stop my homework, and come on a walk with him.

"I'm not going to test anymore on you! I just want to go for a walk!" he grinned.

Finally, he got fed up, and picked me up again, ready to carry me.

"I told you not to turn into Hermione." he said.

"George! Put me down or I will write to your mother! " I exclaimed, laughing too hard to sound serious.

He put me down, and Dean Thomas chimed in.

"Why don't you two just start dating already?" he asked.

"She rejected me last night, that's why." George snapped. He did not want that subject brought up, evidentally.

"Oh George, don't feel so bad about it. I rejected Diggory twice already." I laughed, easing the tension.

The next day, I had my second defense against the dark arts lesson with Mad-Eye Moody as a teacher.

He was going to use the imperious curse on us to see if we could throw it off.

I was going last.

"Miss Malfoy, your turn." he said calmly.

"Um, I can't do this!" I said quickly.

"Why not?" asked almost every person in the room.

"Never mind." I whispered,  walking to the front of the room. Thank goodness this was the last class of the day.

When I got to where Moody was, I just stood there, bracing myself.

When he put the curse on me, I heard an argument in my head.

Now, why did you refuse?

No questions.

Why?

No!

Well then-

Next thing I knew, I blacked out while shaking very badly.

When I woke up, I was in the hospital wing. Madame Pomfrey was near by.

"How long have I been out?" I asked.

"An hour." she replied.

"How many people have come to see me? I'm guessing you told them I need rest."

"Yes I did, and four."

"Let me guess, my brother, George Weasley, Cedric Diggory, and Missy Black."

"The first three are right. The fourth was actually Charlie Weasley."

"Charlie? What was he doing here?"

"I don't know, but you're free to leave. Everyone is at supper."

I left, and went to the Great Hall, where I sat in my normal spot.

"Hey, look who it is!" Lee joked, earning a glare from George, because he had been planning on saying something about me being hard to get.

"So how did you end up in the hospital wing?" Fred asked.

"Moody." I mumbled.

"What?" George asked, shocked.

"He was teaching us how to throw off the Imperious curse,  and then he was putting the curse on us to make us practice. I...I passed out. You know how I am with that kind of thing, George." I said softly, dropping the subject.

I looked towards Draco's table, and he was motioning for me to come over there.

"I'll be right back, George." I said, standing up and walking away.

When I got there, he told me to explain why I was in the hospital wing.

I didn't like the way that Krum was watching me. He didn't take his eyes off me, and it was a disconcerting feeling.

When I got back to the Griffindor table, the champions were called away.

When we made our way to the first task, George pulled me aside.

"We'll catch up." he told Fred and Lee.

He waited until the last person went by.

"Cora, I'll ask again. Will you go out with me?" he asked, stroking my cheek with his thumb, and for the first time, sending sparks through my skin, making me shiver.

"I'll agree, but only on one condition. We keep it secret for now." I saod softly.

"That works for me." he grinned, kissing my forehead.

We got to where the others were sitting, and Lee asked what that was about.

"I'll tell you two tonight in the dorms." George replied.

We watched as Cedric was the first to fight his dragon. He transfigured a rock into a dog to distract it, and it worked... For a moment. Right before he got his golden egg, the dragon turned back to him. He got a nasty cut on his arm. It looked like it really hurt.

After the other champions got their eggs, George and I were going for a walk by the lake.

"Why do we need to keep it secret?" he asked, turning to face me, and placing his hands on my sides.

"Because Cedric has enough to worry about with being a school champion, that he doesn't need the stress of jealosy, but we'll tell at least the Griffindors after the Yule Ball." I replied softly.

"Ok."

He once again stroked my cheek, sending sparks through my head, and I still don't understand why.
