The First Quidditch Game

The next morning was our first Quidditch match. And it was against Slytherin. I only got two hours of sleep.

I walked into the Great Hall, just to find Lee, Fred, and George already there, so I sat in my usual spot by George.

I couldn't bring myself to eat anything, in fact, I felt like I was going to be sick.

"Come on Cora, you have to eat something." Fred said.

"Yeah, you need your energy for the game if you want to be able to play correctly." Lee added.

"I'm not hungry, trust me." I replied, with my head down.

"Don't make me get your brother." George threatened. Fred and Lee each moved over a seat, because they knew, like I did,  that George was going to get him anyway.

"Go get Draco. See if I care." I groaned dismissively. I was really feeling sick.

Sure enough, George left, and when he came back, Draco was with him.

"Cora, they're right. Eating will help the sick feeling." Draco told me, sitting in Fred's usual spot.

All of a sudden, Professor McGonagal came over.

"Mr. Malfoy,  what are you doing over here?" she demanded.

"Checking on my sister here and convincing her to eat. She's feeling sick and won't believe us that eating will help." Draco replied.

"Very well. Cora, they are right. Just ask George about his first match." McGonagal said, walking away.

"What happened? I'll only eat if you tell me." I told George.

"Fine. My first game, I refused to eat cuz I felt sick. I started throwing up here in the Great Hall, and I still wouldn't eat. Charlie came over and made me, like force fed me. I stopped throwing up,  and I wasn't sick anymore." George explained, exasperated.

I finally ate after that, and it worked.

The whole team got to the locker room, and we were changing into our red and gold quidditch robes. Harry looked like he was just as nervous as me.

When the game started, I had the quaffle almost immediately. I raced down the field with it for a moment before passing it to Angelina Johnson. She then passed it to Katie Bell. We scored often, and I looked up toward Harry, and his broom was going crazy.

What the heck was wrong? I couldn't get distracted. We had to win and Harry could handle it.

When he got back on his broom, it was a neck to neck race for the snitch. Everyone just stopped to watch. I caught Angelina's eye, and she nodded. She was in possession of the quaffle. I sped down to the field, and made sure I was open for a pass. Before the Slytherin team knew what was happening, we had scored twice. They shouldn't have stopped.

When Harry caught the snitch, all the Hufflepuffs, Griffindors, Ravenclaws, and one Slytherin(Draco) were cheering very loudly.

My ears were ringing for hours afterward, and much to my surprise, George hugged me once we were back in the locker room. I expected it from Angelina and Katie, who hugged me as well, but I wasn't expecting it from George.

In the Great Hall, George, Lee, Fred, and I sat in our normal spots, instead of with the rest of the quidditch team.

"Let me pretend to be Lee for a moment. 'Griffindor chaser Cora Malfoy passes the quaffle to fellow chaser Angelina Johnson, both of which are very attractive girls... Sorry Professor!' " Fred laughed.

"Well, McGonagal wouldn't let me say what I want for the commentary. She keeps correcting me." Lee argued.

"For good reason! Say something like that again, and Draco's liable to kill you!" I giggled.

"Aww, but it was funny to see your face match your robes!" George grinned. I elbowed him.

Draco came over to talk, just like I thought.

"Congratulations on winning. By the way, you're Lee Jordan, right?" Draco asked.

"Yeah, why?" Lee replied suspiciously.

"Nice job on the commentary. Maybe now that someone else is saying it, Cora will actually believe me. Plus, I can't even make her blush that badly. " Draco laughed.

We all just burst out laughing as he walked away.

Oliver Wood came over to talk to us for a moment.

"What did he want?" Wood asked.

"He's my twin and he congratulated us for winning. He also, um, congratulated Lee on his commentary about me and Angelina." I smiled.

"Oh, ok." Wood replied.

We were in the common room later that evening, and George said he and Fred wanted to show me something. I was confused about why it had to be then, but he said it was because he and Fred didn't want anyone else to know about it.

I followed them back to the quidditch pitch, and they came back with a package of some kind.

They handed it to me to open, and there was a Nimbus 2000 inside. The best, fastest, newest, broomstick yet.

"You guys didn't have to get me anything. Why did you get this for me? Why didn't you get it for yourselves?" I asked them quietly.

"You're a chaser. You need speed more than we do, and it's a congratulations gift for ditching your parents." Fred explained.

"Thank you guys." I replied, hugging George, and then Fred.

"See Fred? I'm awsomer. I get a hug first." George joked.

We went back to the castle, and headed towards the common room, only for me to be pulled aside by Professor McGonagal.

"Cora,  I need to speak with you for a moment." McGonagal said.

"Professor, whatever prank it was, it was us, not her." George said quickly.

"Miss Malfoy is not in trouble, I just need to talk to her. You to better get to the common room, because Lee is looking for you." McGonagal replied.

The twins left, and she led me to her office.

"Your brother told be about you being unwelcome back home for the summer. Have you found a place to stay yet?" McGonagal asked.

"Yes, George said I could stay with them." I replied happily.

"Does Molly approve of her son inviting a girl over?" she smiled.

"George wrote to her and got a yes. Wait a minute... Professor,  it's not like that! We're just friends!" I replied. Really?

"Just making sure. You can go now."

I headed for the common room, and ran into Snape.

"What arenyou doing, roaming the school at this time Miss Malfoy?" he asked.

"I'm heading for my common room sir. I just came from Professor McGonagal's office." I replied.

"Very well."

He was looking for a Griffindor to take points from.

Then I ran into Draco's best friends, Crabbe and Goyle.

"How are you today, Cora?" Crabbe asked, kissing the back of my hand.

"I'm ok, you?" I replied, creeped out.

"Very well. If you need a place to stay for the summer, my place is an option." said Goyle. He kissed the back of my hand too.

"Thanks,  but I already have somewhere to stay." I replied, walking quickly away.

When I got to the common room, there was an explosion of cheers and people congratulating me. What the heck is going on?
