SEVENTEEN

                               FIVE'S POV

Mommy, wear something pretty?" Ezra shouted through the door as Y/n was getting ready in the hotel bathroom.

It was the last day of our vacation, and I had something special planned.

I wore a black suit and shirt, my usual choice. We dressed Ezra in a black suit as well that made him look like his dad. Eventually, Y/n went out of the bathroom with a sultry swirl, and I froze. She was gorgeous. She wore a black silk dress with thin, glittery silver straps crossing on her bare back. Her chocolate waves, left loose, complemented her sultry makeup.

"Wow. You are a beauty queen," I whispered, my gaze still stuck on her.

"Stop it, I'm no beauty queen." She blushed.

This woman was unbelievable. She was such a goddess, and yet she remained so shy and humble. "I wish you could see yourself with my eyes, Y/n."

She smiled softly, our gazes locked. It felt like time stood still. She was perfect. I adored everything about her. Her radiating smile, the way she giggled softly every time she was embarrassed, or how her eyes would sparkle when she looked at Ezra. On top of it, she was so beautiful.

"You're so beautiful that I can't even let you out of my sight for a minute because there's always someone sneaking up on you," I said.

Y/n whispered, "Then don't let me out of your sight. Never."

I slowly approached her, tilting her chin with my fingers, and her eyes flickered between mine. "I won't. I don't want to lose you ever again." I leaned in to kiss her, but before I could do so, Ezra exclaimed in joy.

"Mommy, Daddy, I love you!"

I chuckled, pulling away. Y/n licked her lips as if tasting our almost kiss, her cheeks blushing. I faced Ezra, who ran to me, and I lifted him. "We love you, too. So much." I teased the tip of his nose, and he laughed. "Will we be together now? Mommy, you and me?" he asked, and I nodded.

"We will, my love. From now on, we'll always be together."

"Promise?"

"I promise."

I held Ezra close as we came off my yacht, his giggles echoing in my ears became my favorite kind of music. Y/n's eyes shimmered as she looked around the private island I'd brought them to, her gaze flickering between the candlelit path of roses petals and me. I grinned at her, pointing to the trail of rose petals she followed, her beauty glowing in the soft moonlight.

Fuck. It has to be my favorite sight in the world.

I watched her gasp, her eyes filling with tears of happiness as she looked at the romantic arrangement before us. The table I had decorated earlier with roses and twinkling candles, making sure it looked like something out of a fairy tale. Magical. She deserved nothing less.

Y/n turned back to me to find me on one knee. I must admit my heart hadn't been racing like this in a very long time now. I held out the velvet box, Ezra bouncing beside me in excitement.

"Five, wh—" Y/n giggled. She was clearly touched.

"Y/n, I've never been more certain about anything in my life than I am certain about my love for you. I want nothing more than to build a future together, to create a family with you and our son."

I opened the velvet box, and she gasped, her eyes glimmered. This time, I'd chosen a black diamond ring with a glimmering diamond tiara. Black diamonds symbolize resilience, just like our love would last forever. Transformation as our lust transformed into the purest of loves. Lastly, they're believed to bring protection and healing, and I swore to protect Y/n, our son , and our family with my life. Y/n was the only woman who could heal my dark soul. She was a cure for my tainted heart. She was the beauty shining bright in the darkness, lighting up the path that led me to her. Always, her. I was certain that even if things would get rough, she would always be my light guiding my way back home to her, and our daughter, our family. The tiara was to remind her she was the Queen of my Heart.

"Y/n Hargreeves, will you marry me?" I asked. Life had given us a second chance, and I was determined to seize it. To make things right this time. "This time for real?" I chuckled and so did she.

"Yes." She giggled through the watery eyes. "I want to marry you, Five Hargreeves."

I couldn't stop grinning. I hopped towards her, and she wrapped her hands around my neck. I caressed her cheek, looking deeply into her shimmering eyes before stealing a soft kiss from her curved lips that curved in a smile against mine.

"I love you, Y/n," I whispered, sliding the ring on her slim, long finger before I kissed her hand gently.

"You give my life meaning. You and our son."

Y/n took a breath, a tear escaping her eye that I tenderly wiped away. "I love you, Five. More than anything."

"Family hug!" Ezra exclaimed and we both chuckled, resting our foreheads against each other before we turned to our most precious son. I lifted him and held in my arms as we hugged. All three of us.

Sometimes we needed to lose something to see how much it meant to us. Perhaps, we had to lose each other to realize how much we loved one another. To see that our lives were black and blue without the other. Meaningless, colorless. People were like puzzles. They needed to learn a certain lesson to open their eyes to the things that they hadn't seen before. With each lesson, they pick up the missing pieces and at the end of the journey, they were finally complete. Having Y/n and Ezra by my side, I felt complete. I picked up the missing puzzle pieces in my life.

Later that night, we came back to the hotel room, tucking Ezra who fell asleep in my arms to bed. The evening was full of emotions, but he drifted to sleep with a smile on his face. I planted a tender kiss on his forehead, caressing him soft, deep brown hair. The sight of him sleeping so peacefully would never stop being one of my favorite things.

"Five?" Y/n's soft voice jolted me out of my reverie.

"Yeah?" I turned to face her.

She pointed her head toward the living room area in our suite, and I followed. I looked at her, from head to toe, savoring another one of my favorite sights.

"Here." She extended her fist toward me, handing me something. "It's yours."

I looked at the engagement ring I gave her the first time four years ago that she left in my hand, and then back at her.

"You kept it?"

"I did," she whispered. "I wanted to throw it away so many times, but I couldn't." Her eyes darted between mine. "I knew that ring had a special meaning. That was the only thing I had of you. I wanted you to have it back."

I took a few steps closer to her, putting my hand on her cheek. She sank into my touch, her eyes shutting close briefly. "Y/n..." I whispered, at a loss of words. I thought she had thrown it away a long time ago.

"It was also reminding me of you," she spoke tenderly, and her gaze met mine.

"Like my shirt; you wore it the other day at the hospital?" I couldn't help but tease.

Y/n's eyes widened and she chuckled. "You noticed?"

"I did." I nodded, my thumb caressing her cheek.

"I could've figured it out. You've always been so observant." Her brows furrowed as if in embarrassment. She overlapped my hand with hers, murmuring sultrily, "I guess I have never stopped loving you either. I tried to hate you. God knows I did. I failed."

My teeth sank into my lip as it curved in a grin. "Our love never died. It only slumbered." I took Y/n's right hand in mine and slid the ring she gave me back on her finger. "You said it's mine, but it belongs to you, Y/n. I told you, I swore if I would ever married that one girl one day, who makes my heart bloom, petal by petal. It's you. It's always you. Always will be." I planted a kiss on her hand and her eyes welled up with tears once again.

"Five," she breathed.

"Hey, don't cry." I wiped the tear from under her eye, pulling her closer to me.

Her face was buried in my neck, inhaling deeply. "It's always been you for me too."

The knock at the door broke on our moment. I gently pulled away, touching Y/n's hair away from her face. "It must be the room service. I've ordered champagne for us." I smiled, heading toward to open the door.

My blood ran cold. In an instant, adrenaline-fueled every fiber in me.

"What the fuck. Charles?" I hissed, assessing the hallway covered with the blood of my men. Charles Moretti, my supposed ally was pointing a gun to my chest. Behind him five or more of his men. My gaze landed on the guy from the restaurant, Austin, if I remembered right. He had a gun pressed at the back of his head, all bruised. He looked at me with horror in his eyes.

"Five, what is it?" Y/n's voice made my heart skip a beat, reminding me she was here too. Our son was here.

"Don't come closer, Y/n," I warned, stopping her with my hand.

She furrowed her brows, concern painting her face.

Charles grinning in a twisted way. "Come with us and nothing bad will happen to your woman and son. I want only you, Five. But if you try any tricks, I'll kill you all," he threatened, his smirk widening as he pressed the gun to my chest with force.

"Five." Y/n started panicking.

"Y/n, please. Stay where you are and don't do anything." I glanced at her, it was visible she didn't know what to do, and her heart was breaking. So was mine.

quickly calculated all the possibilities in my head. My men were dead. Wyatt was nowhere to be seen. I had no choice but to do what Charles fucking Moretti say. I thought about trying to blink away, but I didn't want to risk Y/n's and Ezra's life. I couldn't have risked the safety of my family.

"I'll go with you but if a single hair falls off her head, I'll fucking bury you alive. Even if I had to come back from dead," I hissed, staring straight into Charles' eyes.

"Fine by me," Charles replied before he signaled his men to capture me. I took a heavy breath and I looked at Y/n whose face was covered with tears. "I love you, Y/n. I'll love you till the end of my days and even after that," I said, knowing it might've been the last time I saw her.
