Chapter Six, Date Night and Match Making

"Daddy are you okay?" Valerie asked concerned, as she sat his lunch down in front of him before taking her seat in between her father's seat and the bouncer holding a now four month old, gurgling Jace. The only one missing was Bella, but she was at the Cullen's house. It has been a few days since Edward essentially revealed himself to her when he stalked her whilst she was out prom dress shopping with Jessica and Lauren. While she had been prom dress shopping with Jace and Angela, and also a few days since family friend Waylon Forge had been attacked by vampires. Esme had invited her to come round with Jace as well but Valerie wanted to spend some time with her Dad.
"I will be sweetheart, thank you." Charlie said, leaning over to kiss her forehead. "You could have gone to the Cullen's, you know."

"I know but I wanted time with you, I'm sorry about uncle Waylon, Dad." Valerie sighed sadly, taking a bite of her apple.
"Me too sweetheart. I promise I'll be careful while doing the search and promise me you'll be careful. I can't lose you too. How're you doing everything?" Charlie asked, leaning down to pick up Jace's toy and give it back to him, smiling as his grandson gurgled happily at him as he took the toy back.
"I miss Waylon, and I'm still pissed at Bella but other than that I'm okay. I've got another date with Jasper tomorrow at the cinema." Valerie said with a smirk on her face.
"I know that look. What are you up to?" Charlie asked suspiciously.
"It's a double date. I'm setting Jake up with Angela. You should've seen the looks they kept sending each other at the beach." Valerie laughed. Charlie just chuckled and shook his head at his youngest. He hoped Jasper knew what he was getting himself into.

"You look nice sweetheart. Going somewhere?" Reneé asked, looking over her daughter's outfit through FaceTime. Valerie was wearing light blue jeans, a white lace, crop top, a dark blue cardigan, white heels, purplish-pink eyeshadow, mascara and pink lipgloss, and her hair half up and down style. Valerie was talking on FaceTime with her mother, Phil, Melinda and Jean-Paul so they could catch up and so they could see Jace, who had rolled over onto his tummy a few minutes ago.
"I have a date with Jasper?" Valerie told them.
Melinda and Reneé squealed happily and talked over each, until their husbands calmed them down.
"It's going well?" Jean-Paul asked.

"Really well. He's been so considerate and let me do things on my terms and he's amazing with Jace. That first Full Moon he was the only one who could calm Jace a little. And it's a double date. I'm setting two of my friends up." Valerie explained everything that had been going on in Forks lately, with Jace, Bella, school and her first date at the Fair with Jasper where he'd won her a large teddy bear which was in her room, until there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it." Charlie called, from the kitchen where he'd been cleaning his gun.
"We'll let you go and have fun. Let us know how the matchmaking goes. I love you." Reneé said, blowing a kiss to her daughter.
"I love you too. Bye." Valerie bid, blowing them a kiss back just as Charlie walked into the living room with Jasper who looked rather handsome in his washed-out blue jeans, white smart shirt, navy blue almost black jumper, black smart shoes and a black pea coat.

"Hi Jazz." Valerie greeted as she got up off the floor stretching out her stiff muscles.
"Hi Val." Jasper greeted, coming closer and kissed her softly but keeping his eyes averted from her exposed midriff. "You look beautiful as always." He said, causing a light blush to cover her cheeks.
"Thank you. You look handsome as always." Valerie returned.
"He turned over?" Jasper asked, seeing Jace do it again, his eyes lighting up as he crouched down besides the four month old baby. Earning a pleased smile from Charlie and Valerie.
"Yeah, he did it this morning." Charlie informed him.
"Who's a clever boy?" Jasper cooed, running his hand gently through Jace's blonde hair earning squeals from the little boy making them all laugh.

"You guys better go before you miss the film." Charlie told them, looking at the time.
"There's milk in the fridge if you need it and if you need me-" Valerie started only to be cut off by her father.
"Everything will be fine Val. Now, go on. Enjoy the film." Charlie said, kissing her forehead and handing her her handbag once she'd put her coat on.
"Bye Dad. Bye baby."
"Bye Charlie. Bye lil' man."
Jasper and Valerie bid as they left the house, Jasper helping Valerie get in the car like the gentleman he is.
"Thank you Jazz. Are you sure you don't mind if it's a double date?" Valerie asked, once he'd started the car.
"Of course not darlin.'" Jasper smiled, kissing the back of her hand as he sped towards Port Angeles.

Before long they arrived in Port Angeles and parked outside of the cinema where Angela and Jake were waiting happily chatting away to each other.
"I see it's working." Valerie cheered happily, as she took off her seatbelt making Jasper laugh and lean over to kiss her.
"You're adorable." He said against her lips, pressing another kiss to them before he got out of the car and came round to her side attracting the attention of Jake and Angela who had a slight blush on her cheeks.
"Val!" Angela cried, rushing over to her friend only to smack her shoulder.
"What I saw you both liked each other so why not give it a shot?" Valerie asked. "Then you can ask him to prom." She sing-songed, as she made her way into the cinema laughing as Jake and Angela shouted after her.

"Good luck." Jake said to Jasper, shaking his head at his best friend while Jasper just stood there smirking. He loved that she was starting to relax more, actually he just loved her.
"I love her as she is." Jasper said, shrugging his shoulders as they followed after her.
"Have you told her?" Angela asked excitedly, before a blush spread across her cheeks as her hand brushed against Jake's.
"No, not yet." Jasper replied.
"Well I think you should." Angela told him, before she walked off to talk to Valerie leaving the two boys to stare after them.
"You hurt her. I'll kill you." Jake threatened Jasper.
"I'd never dream of it." Jasper assured, getting a nod from Jake as Valerie called out to them.
"C'mon Falcon and the Winter Soldier aren't going to watch themselves!" Jasper and Jake laughed, and caught up with the two girls taking some of the snacks from them and headed to their screen.

"Thank you." Angela whispered in Valerie's ear. "This has been the best double date, and the first I've ever been on."
"It went well then?" Valerie asked hopefully.
"Yeah, he's asked me out on another date next weekend just the two of us and he agreed to go to prom with me." Angela gushed.
"I'm so happy for you, Angie." Valerie cried, hugging her friend. "I'll see you on Monday." She bid as Angela got into her car after saying goodbye to Jake and Jasper.
"I should kill you but you're lucky I like you too much." Jake joked, causing the pair of them to laugh. "Thank you. I'll see you later."
"It went well, I take it?" Jasper asked, as they were driving back home.
"Hmm mmm." Valerie hummed happily. "If you don't want to deal with Edward you can always stay with us." She suggested, noticing the tension returning to his shoulders.

"I might just take you up on that darlin'. He's getting unbearable and I'm going to rip his head off if he carries on." Jasper growls.
"Shhh." Valerie soothed, rubbing her thumb over his knuckles. "It's okay." She said, as she leaned over to kiss his cheek. "I had fun tonight Jasper, thank you."
"I'm glad darlin and as did I." Jasper said, smiling at her before returning his eyes to the road. He will make sure he kept his promise and nothing was going to hurt or endanger the woman he loved or their son.
