The Expanse
Today,
The trees in the garden were gold and brown,
Half of the leaves already dead, scattered across the their mighty, barks all around like stars, trailing their fallen comrade.
Yet the day was so warm ,
It could have passed for summer.
She took a seat on the rail, waved at the guards with their cross bows aimed at her.
Out across the city,
She could make out the sails of ships,
The wagons and people, streaming through the streets. The green roofs of the city glowed emerald in the sun.
She looked again and despite herself she stepped out into the balcony.
