Prologue
"She is a monster! A hybrid creature!"
"She was born of two fae, therefore she is a fae! One of us! You can't call her a monster because she is of different regions!"
"You don't understand! She could be dangerous, who knows what power she contains, and whether she can control it or not! Do not forget what has happened previously, they are difficult to control."
"She is just a child! How could she do anything?"
"She holds tremendous power in her veins, royal power. We know it's there but have no idea what it will do if she gets over emotional over something."
"Exactly! What if she starts crying over hunger and causes a forest to spring up out of no where or a blizzard to appear. We don't know enough about hybrids!"
"Her father wasn't an Elemental, she can't control the elements."
"You are all not thinking, do not forget she cannot do anything unless taught."
"You don't know that! What if she's a Shadow?"
"Shadows are so rare, the likely-hood is low."
"But she is different! She's hybrid! We don't know how their power manifests."
"Silence! I've had enough of this debate. I have made my decision." A booming voice interrupted the bickering.
"Yes my lord?"
"The parents will be punished for their sins, they will each be sent to their region's prisons to await execution. We do not stand for this behavior. Dalaki and Niuk do not mix."
"And what of the child?"
"She... She will leave our realm, exiled. She shall go to stay among humans. As long as she is not taught, her powers will not awaken."
The silence that followed the King's speech was deafening. After a few seconds there was a sob from the Niuk mother of the hybrid.
The King stared down at his subject's shocked and distraught faces. He knew this was a delicate situation and at the fae's reactions he wondered if he'd made the right decision. He couldn't turn back now so he waved his hand above his head to signal guards to step forth. His people must have faith in him. He knew the Dalaki king would agree with his decisions.
Four armour clad fae marched to the parents of the child and pulled them up from their places. The mother could not stand on her own feet and was dragged up, the father held a hateful glare to anyone who dared to look at him. The King felt his heart twist as he watched his own brother be dragged away. He had sentenced his kin to death.
As the door slammed behind the forbidden couple the King stood from his throne, rejecting all emotions for his brother, "Fetch the child, she must be removed from the realm at once. Bring her to my study."
The King swept out through the grand doors, his head held high, leaving all of his people whispering in the great hall.
It wasn't long before the King stood in one of his private casting rooms, holding the tiny infant. She was asleep. Two guards stood by the door, tense.
The King held the girl close and closed his eyes, he reached out one hand and started to mumble incoherent words. If they were audible, it would be obvious to anyone that it was some unknown ancient language. A caster's language.
A white glowing shape appeared in front of the king, a flat pure white disk floating mid air. The edges of the circle frayed out in tiny tendrils of what looked like smoke. After more words were spoken by the King, the disk dimmed and a blurry image became visible in the centre. The King opened his eyes and dropped his hand. He glanced at the child in his arms, this was his own kin as well. His niece.
"Guards, stay by the portal. I shall not be long. I do not need protection while in the human world." With that the king stepped forwards into the disk and disappeared, leaving the portal silent for two worried guards.
The King appeared in an empty, dark street. The moon was high and the street lamps were spaced out far enough to leave large patches of darkness. Lining the street, many tall town houses, all made of cream stone with large windows.
Making a decision, the King walked up to the closest house and knocked on the door.
Nothing happened.
He knocked again.
A light appeared in the window and the door swung open to reveal a very tired looking man with a dressing gown done up messily.
"Good day sir." The King greeted.
"Day? It's night you blasted fool. It's two in the morning, what do you want?" The man grumbled.
"How does your world deal with children with no parents?"
"What? Uh, they go to an orphanage. Why are you here?" The man yawned and rubbed his eye.
"Then please take this child to an or-phan-age." The King handed the infant to the half asleep man who took her, trying to blink away the tiredness.
"Wait, what? Are you serious?" When the man looked up, the King was gone, all that remained was a shrinking white disk that disappeared into non-existence.
"What the..."
The child mewed, causing the man to jump and almost drop her. He held her at arms length cautiously.
She opened her eyes and blinked a few times before settling her gaze on the human in front of her. She had one emerald green eye and one chlorine blue.
"What the flipping hell do I do now?"

This was an idea I had a long time ago when I used this website frequently. I recently remembered my login and came back to Wattpad and have so many draft stories that have a few chapters completed. Since I've forgotten most of the stories I originally had planned I'm using the beginning chapters as guidelines to write new stories.
So I'm back on Wattpad after a few years of inactivity and am hoping to write stories that people will enjoy.
Let me know what you think!!
Amy
