Chapter 60: Campfire
Ells' POV
Most of the day, we traveled in silence. Once in a while, we would exchange some conversation, but only the conversation that was needed to move forward. I don't know if we were tired, upset, or angry. We just didn't talk. Not really exchange eye contact either.
I didn't mention anything to anybody else, but I was scared. Really scared. I don't know why, but I had a strange feeling to look behind me, and stepping on twigs caused me to jump a little bit.
As we began to set up camp once more for another night of slumber, I decided to try and start up a conversation between everybody.
"So, Simon..."
"Yes. What is it?" He asked, sounding a little intimidated. What did I do...? Ells. Stop feeling. Just ask something. Anything.
"What happens if we don't get this potion? What happens when we run out of time?" I asked, as I began to rub two sticks together to create a fire.
"The world, as we know it, will most likely be destroyed." He said, his voice sounding as serious as ever.
"Because of me? Will I... die?"
"You... Ells, it's hard to explain. Just know that you need that potion, and that you need to be cured as soon as possible." Simon said, ending the conversation.
"Also, you are never going to start a fire with two sticks like that." He said, as he got the sticks from my hands, and went at psycho speed against the sticks, causing an instant fire to appear.
"Wow, impressive." Dimitry said, as he started unpacking.
Violet had climbed up on top of one of the trees, probably getting a perfect view of everything there is to see.
Hunter, was already unpacked, and, somehow, was already asleep. Well, we all know who's going to be excited tomorrow morning...
I just continued to watch The fire, looking into the light lazily. My eyes slowly began to shut, as I wrapped into my own blankets, and fell asleep.

Simon's POV
"They're already asleep?" Astrid said, sitting down right next to Ells. It's always him and Ells... I must keep an eye on him...
"Um... yeah." I said, as I picked up a piece of the fruit and handed it to him. What is he trying to do?
"Here, eat this. You need your strength." I said blankly. What am I doing?! He looked at me for a moment, then took the fruit for my hands, as I began to stare at the sky.
"Hey. Thanks..." Astrid set, taking a bite out of the fruit, but, leaving half of it next to him and Ells.
"Astrid?"
"Yeah?"
"Why do you do that?"
"Do what?"
"That." I said, pointing towards the fruit.
"Oh. Well... I have very deep feelings for her. And she needs her strength as well, doesn't she?" He said, his face red against the fire, which was dying out.
"But, she said that she didn't want to date you. Why do you still care, anyways?" I said, glaring at him a little bit. I don't know what or why I am doing this. It's not in my programming to care, unless needed too...
"Because," He said, "Even if she doesn't like me back, I will do anything to help her out." He said. Do all humans feel this, or is it just him? Risk their life for somebody else? How... Strange. I must look into this more.
"You should get some rest. I plan on getting to our destination at approximately 16 hours." I said, standing up.
I walked away from the fire, without saying a word.
