Chapter 58: Astrid Conquers Heights

No POV
So, Hunter drank the potion given to him by Simon, as he sat by the wall. He looked at his leg upsettingly, as Simon took out some bandage for him.

He had never seen an injury this bad before. He managed to stay calm the whole time, as the pain was spreading throughout his body.

"Hunter, you... might not enjoy this..." Simon said, as he started to put some damage on his foot. He had to stop the bright red cut from bleeding out anymore of Hunter's needed blood.

Hunter flinched, but Simon gave him a look, and just like that, Hunter turned silent.

There was a few minutes of just silence, letting Violet think about this being a waste of time, and Dimitry thinking about how many licks it would take to get to the center of a lollipop.

Simon finished bandaging his foot with the bright blue bandage, and wrapped it tightly.

"Just wait a few hours before taking that thing off, and your leg should be completely healed." Simon said to him. Hunter sat next to Violet and Dimitry.

"Why didn't we get a potion, Doc?" Dimitry asked, but Violet hit him hard with her elbow.

"Ow! Gosh, Violet, what was that for?!"

"Because, I'm bored, I'm hungry, and we've gotten absolutely nowhere!" Violet replied, crossing her arms. Nobody denied what she said.

"Dimitry, my sources are very limited. Normally, your injury would've been The first to heal. So, naturally, it was smartest to let you deal with the injury on your own." Simon said, as he got the materials needed to begin working on Ells.

Meanwhile, Astrid goes through the village, looking for "anything useful", as Simon told him. But, as far as he was concerned, this place was an empty dump.

There were no dead bodies, no sign of life anywhere. But, one thing worried him the most.

Not just the wheat he and his friends regrew, but all of the wheat, has turned into black ashes.

That was when he looked at the tree. His eyes widened. The town seemed destroyed, but the big tree flourished with life. But, how could that be? Theoretically, the tree should've died with the rest of the town.

So, Astrid, despite his fear of heights, climbed the tree. For most people, he didn't climb very high. But, for him, he climbed the height of a city building.

He grabbed as much fruit as he could (about seven or eight pieces), before his fear got the best of him. He scrambled down the tree, his mind in full relief when his feet landed on the ground.

Astrid smiled brightly, as he got all of the fruit from the tree in his hands, and walked back to the group.

Hunter's wounds were just beginning to heal when Astrid walked in.
