Ells' POV
"Did you hear what they are telling on television?"

"Yeah! They are actually picking someone from our sector! Ours!"

"But, Sector 14 is so small! What if she is in our school?!

"That would be absolutely amazing!"

Everybody, and from everybody I mean, EVERYBODY, has heard about it. About me. They don't know it's me yet though... All they know is it's someone girl from Sector 14. They'll probably figure it out by the time the games start...

Can't they just shut about it already? I'm probably never going to see any of these people again...

"Ells! Did you hear about her?"

"Yeah, I did! It's pretty amazing, isn't it?" I said, trying to sound happy, forcing a smile on my face. Even though on the inside, I felt like crushing into a million pieces. They don't even know how much pressure this is putting on me. Now I have a stress headache from all of this...

"I can't wait to figure out who will it be from Sector 14 that is going to be in the games! I mean, Sector 14! It's such a huge opportunity!" Mae said excitedly, pushing some of her blonde hair with pink highlights out of her face.

"Umm... yeah!" I exclaimed.

That was when my life changed. When everything started to change.

First, the lights went out.

It was quite strange, because our power had never gone out, unless it was an emergency.

Then, she walked in.

"It's Mrs. Kuro!"

"Yeah! It's really her!"

"Ugh... not that weirdo..."

"Ells! It's really her! Pitchi Kuro! President of the Magic Trials!" My friend said, over the crowd of people that were either freaking out or complaining.

My stomach started to feel sick. Why is she here? I don't want her here! I need to hide somewhere, right now! Before she sees me!

"I'm feeling sick, Mae. I think I need t-"

Then, everything stopped. I could feel it. In the atmosphere. I looked at the clock. The unmoving clock.

"Ells Ender." Pitchi said loudly across the silent hallway. I stood still.

"Mrs. Kuro..." I said, looking straight into her bright, lunar, night sky eyes.

"So, it is you who has been selected into the Magic Trials."

"Umm... should we be talking about this right now? At my school?" I asked nervously, looking around at all of the frozen classmates. What if they could hear us?

"Oh, don't worry, darling. They're under a time spell. You know, Lunar Magic. Only we will be able to move, hear, or do anything else."

"O-"

"Ells? Do you know why I choose you to be in the Magic Trials?"

I stood there silent. What am I supposed to say? 'Because I've not done magic in years and that I am gonna be the one who'll die eventually!'

"I chose you, because you—you are not like the rest of them. You are special." She said in a serious tone. I was a little befuddled at the situation in hand. Scared and nervous at the same time...

"What do you mean?" I asked her, a tone of worry in my voice.

Then, things started to feel weird. Like I was in between life and death, almost. Being burnt up. But, instead of pain, I felt almost a tingly feeling.

"Ells, I don't have time to explain. Just, don't tell anybody we had this conversation. I'll see you at the Iron Lantern. And, remember this. You have the Keye."

Then, it felt like a burst of wind went through me, and time started back again. The lights were back on, as if they were never off.

"Ells! We're gonna be late for class!" Mae said, helping me up, as we raced to class.

A/N: Hey guys! So, chapter 3! How crazy is that?! I can't believe we've gotten this far in the story, and I haven't stopped thinking of amazing ideas to add to this! I'm already getting close to putting chapter 5 on Wattpad! I've probably written enough for chapter 6 today! Ahh my god! Hope you enjoy!
