1 - The Locket Appears
When Kelsey woke up, she had no idea how there was a locket strapped around her neck. It was heart shaped, purple in color with a golden and somewhat powdery substance inside. She did not recognize the piece, so Kelsey concluded that no one had gifted it to her. Because of this, the explanation was clear - either her mother, her father, or her sister had given it to her overnight. Eager to find out where the locket had come from, Kelsey quickly showered off, changed and sped downstairs.
When she got down, Kelsey marched to her mom and asked, "Hey, mom, did you get me this locket thingy?" while tugging on the dark pink elastic. Kelsey's mother gave her a puzzled look. "No," she said slowly. Right then her father walked in. "Hey, dad," Kelsey immediately blurted out, "You recognize this?" A upset look from her father was all it took for her to realize her parents thought she had stolen it. "Woke up, found it, not mine, end of story." Her parents exchanged looks, but then said, "Alright, just take it off now." Kelsey pulled on the two ends, but the locket stayed put. Both parents tried, but the clasp would not budge. "Whatever, the bus is here, so I've got to run. Bye!" Kelsey said, and she ran out the door. "Don't forget, we're going to the library!" Kelsey's mother yelled after Kelsey as she rushed into the bus.
"Good to see you Kelsey!" The librarian at the public library waved at Kelsey waved back. "Looking for something?" she asked. Kelsey shook her head "no," despite the fact that she actually was looking for something. She scurried off to the fiction section, her blue eyes mysteriously sparkling. There, she started to look for that old book about magical things and occurences that she had always loved. She ran her fingers through the book's spines, looking for the book. Finally, she found it. Kelsey slowly pulled it out and flipped it open. Suddenly, a whirring sound started up. Kelsey looked up in annoyance to see what all the noise was about. But as soon as she looked up at the sight, all her annoyance seemed to fly away like a little hummingbird and morph into amazement. "Whoa," she rasped, gaping at the sight in front of her.
