Chapter 15: The Father

(O.D.D.- This is the longest chapter I have ever made....I don't understand why I didn't even separate it into separate chapters.  Oh well! ( ^ω^ ))

Karasuma smirked as he dodged an Anti-Sensei knife.

He always felt a bit of pride in his heart as he trained with the Class E students.

They always seemed to improved as every single day pass--

Slither.

Karasuma froze as he felt something behind him.

The ravenet quickly lashed out.

Slam!  Thud.

"Itei..."

Karasuma blinked his eyes in shock as he stared at the familiar bluenet that he just shoved rather roughly; the ravenet quickly made his way over to the teen.

"Gomen.  I swung a bit too hard--can you stand?"

Nagisa smiled tentatively.

"Ah, I'm fine.  I can stand."

Sugino assisted the lighter-haired bluenet, laughing slightly.

"That was dumb.  It's 'cause you weren't paying enough attention."

"Urg..."

Nagisa sighed, smiling softly.

Karasuma merely observed the bluenet.

'...He is somewhat agile as a result of his small build, but...he is a mild student with no other physical abilities worth mentioning.' The Government Agent frowned slightly. '...Could I have imagined that strange presence I had felt just now?'

In a sandbox not too far away from the group, Koro-Sensei had an unreadable expression on his face--despite his ever-present grin.

~~

"That's all!  Today's P.E. Class is now over!"

Karasuma started to walk away from the Class E, and then Hinano, a ginger, called out to the ravenet.

"Sensei!  Come have tea with everyone after school!"

Karasuma looked back her, face devoid of emotion.

"...Ah.  I'm happy that you're inviting me, but I'm expecting a communication from the Ministry of Defense after this."

Hinano deflated slightly, green eyes downcast.

"Oh...okay..."

Karasuma then walked away from the group, entering the Class E building.

"In order to break this deadlock, we'll be adding one more member to your personnel.  There is a man well-suited for the job."

The ravenet paused in his walk at the memory.

'...I heard that he'll be coming today, but...'

Karasuma then noticed the shadow behind the paper door in front of him.

Rattle, thunk.

A slightly rounded man stepped through, hefting a few boxes and bags.

The taller blinked in slight surprise at the sight of Karasuma before smiling brightly.

"Yo, Karasuma!"

Karasuma blinked in shock as the taller walked past him, descending the stairs to the students in the field.

The Government Agent swiftly turned his head.

'Takaoka!'

<<(With the Students)>>

"Who's that guy?"

"He's huge!"

The man smiled as he set the bags down, jabbing a thumb at himself.

"Hey there!  My name's Takaoka Akira!  Starting today, I'll be working here to help out Karasuma!  Nice to meet all of you in Class E!"

The students looked at the new goods with amazement.

"Wh-What the heck...there are cakes and drinks and stuff in here..."

Kaede immediately went over the pile of sweets, eyes practically sparkling.

Yuuma glanced over at Takaoka, looking slightly nervous.

"Is it alright to give us stuff that's this expensive?"

The rounded man grinned.

"Sure, eat up!" Takaoka blushed slightly. "I planned to empty my wallet, so don't hold back!"

(O.D.D.- ...When I first saw Takaoka-san in the manga...I always felt this sense of foreboding, like he was going to be evil--I was right! (O_o). Sorry if I'm spoiling it for the others... (<_<))

Takaoka sat on the ground, crossing his legs; he smiled brightly at the students.

"Please don't think of this as some sort of trap.  I don't want to waste any time getting along with you guys!" The man picked up one of the paste rise and bit into one of them, winking at the group. "Plus...food tastes best when you sit around and eat it with everyone!"

The class blinked in slight surprise.

'Didn't Tsuna-Sensei tell us that before...?'

Slowly, the group warmed up to Takaoka, and they snacked with each other.

<<(With Karasuma)>>

Another agent stood behind the ravenet.

"Eto...Karasuma-san, you have a message from the Chief.  He says he would like you to focus solely on providing outside guidance to the assassins." She grimaced slightly. "It appears that...Takaoka-san will handle all things related to the students' training from now on."

Karasuma blinked his eyes in shock as the other agent continued.

"As a fellow member of the Ministry of Defense...I worry for the students." She looked past Karasuma to see Takaoka talking cheerfully to the students. "That man is an extremely dangerous deviant."

~~
<<(In the Teachers' Break room)>>

"I saw the results of your training earlier, Karasuma." Takaoka raised an unimpressed eyebrow at the ravenet. "After three months worth, they should be much further along." The rounded man glanced at the window next to him, looking at the students down below. "In the army, it would have only taken them a month to reach their current level."

Karasuma frowned faintly at the taller man.

"Don't confuse them with professional soldiers." The Government Agent crossed his arms. "Their primary role is that of a junior high student." Karasuma narrowed his gaze slightly. "Any more training than that, and it would interfere with their studies."

Takaoka sighed disappointedly, placing a hand on his forehead as he waved his other in the air.

"Mataku~you're so laid back--even though the future of the world is at stake!"

The rounded man reached into his jacket and pulled two photos out.

"Listen, Karasuma.  What you need is enthusiasm.  When an instructor gives his all, it gets his pupils fired up!" Takaoka showed one of the pictures; it was an image of him with some of the soldiers he was training before he came to Class E--the group was smiling at the camera. "The training might be a little harsh, but...the students respond to enthusiasm like that."

Takaoka smiled one last time to the teachers that were there before tossing Koro-Sensei some candy.

"You just wait.  We'll have your head in no time, Koro-Sensei!" The man stepped to the door and grinned. "I'll finish turning the students...into first-rate assassins much faster than Karasuma would."

The door closed with a soft 'thunk'.

Koro-Sensei chuckled as he started to open a chocolate bar.

"Nurufufufu~what a naïve Sensei."

Karasuma made a disgruntled expression as he crossed his arms once more.

"I don't want to hear that from the one being fed sweets."

Koro-Sensei gathered up the rest of the candy and put it away to who knows where.

The octopus slowly walked over to the window.

"As far as P.E. Is concerned, you are both so adamant about it.  I'll leave the matter to you." Koro-Sensei opened the window with one of his tentacles. "That being said, I'm not going to criticize the change of leadership, but..." The octopus turned his beady, black eyes to look at Karasuma's onyx ones. "...You are Class E's P.E. teacher, Karasuma-Sensei--I believe it can't be anyone but you."

With those final words, Koro-Sensei took took off into the sky.

Karasuma narrowed his eyes slightly; Irina shuffled away from her position by the wall, standing a few feet away from the Government agent.

"Are you alright with this?  That big guy's personality seemed kinda forced."

Karasuma merely turned his gaze to the students in the field below; Irina huffed before turning on her heel, leaving the room.

The Government Agent sighed softly.

'...He's magnificently winning them over.....it appears that he's able to differentiate between the students and army troops.'

Karasuma turned on his heel and walked to the desk that sat on the side of the small room; he picked up the photo that Takaoka left behind.

'...The training will likely progress smoothly as well...' The ravenet sighed as he studied the smiling face of the soldiers in the picture. '...Have my methods been wrong all this time?  As a professional, I've kept a clear distinction between the students and I and retained my distance......maybe treating them as a family, like Takaoka's doing, would be...'

Onyx eyes blinked in surprise when they spotted another picture resting on the table.

'Another one...?'

He reached a hand out to pick it up...but then he noticed something before his fingers could even brush the surface.

Something was very, very, very wrong with the picture.

Karasuma's eyes slowly widened at the image that greeted his eyes.

'What.  The.  He**?'

Whip marks.

Whip marks covered the backs of the same soldiers that Karasuma seen in the first photo.

And Takaoka....

His smile was still present.

The sickening smile looked so proud.

Karasuma felt a small bead of sweat run down the side of his head.

<<(With the Students)>>

"Now, then!  Along with the a complete overhaul of the training program, Class E's schedule has also changed." Takaoka grinned as he handed his papers out. "Pass this around to everyone."

Slowly, everyone's faces changed to ones filled with shock.

"...You're kidding, right?"

"Ten periods..."

"Training till 9 PM?"

Takaoka continued to smile brightly.

"This much is given.  I even got the Board Chairman's approval, too.  He said, 'the world is in a time of crisis, so there's no helping it'." The rounded man spread his arms wide as he grinned. "If we follow this curriculum, your abilities will grow by leaps and bounds!  So, without any further delays--"

"Just a--hold on a second! This schedule is impossible!"

A blonde, Hiroto, stood up from his sitting position.

Takaoka tilted his head confusedly.

"Huh?"

Hiroto continued.

"If this is all the time we'll get for studying, then our grades will drop!  The Board Chairman knew that when he approved it!  And there's no time for us to have fun either!  There's no way in he** we can do this!"

Takaoka's smile never wavered for a second; he walked towards Hiroto.

Suddenly, the back of Hiroto's head was grabbed; Takaoka's knee went rushing towards the blonde's stomach.

Swish, smack!

Slowly...Hiroto opened his eyes, blinking them confusedly when he no longer felt Takaoka's large hand on the back of his head.

'What...?'

Everyone gasped silently when they saw a familiar head of unruly brown hair, hidden slightly by a black fedora.

Tsuna was holding the back of Hiroto's P.E. shirt, tugging the blonde behind him.

And his other hand...was holding Takaoka's knee in place.

The bruent's expression was unreadable since his fedora was covering his face.

Tsuna slowly dropped his hand away from Takaoka's knee as the taller man also set his foot on the ground.

The brunet turned and away from Takaoka and gripped Hiroto by the shoulders.

"....Are you alright, Hiroto-kun?"

The blonde slowly found his voice.

"H-Hai!  I'm...fine..."

Hiroto couldn't see the other's eyes at the moment, but he could feel a simmering heat on Tsuna's hands.

'Why are they so warm?'

Tsuna quickly reigned his flames in, taking a slow, soft breath.

"Hey~!  You're disrupting class, ya' know."

The brunet slowly turned his head to look at Takaoka, who was pouting childishly.

"It's bad to interrupt a child's learning."

Karasuma just dashed out of the Class E building in time to see Tsuna save Hiroto; the ravenet paused at the stairs, shocked by the sudden appearance of the brunet.

'When did he...!?'

Tsuna turned his body fully to Takaoka.

"...I must ask you...Mister....what type of learning this is?"

The bruent's voice was controlled and soft; the students couldn't tell what Tsuna was feeling at the moment.

Takaoka frowned.

"What they're learning is how to become strong children to save this world from that evil Koro-Sensei.  And you are disrupting it."

The rounded man stepped up to Tsuna, looking down at the other.

"You should leave."

Takaoka touched the other's shoulder.

Swish!  CRACK!

The students and Karasuma widened their eyes with shock as....Takaoka was sent flying.

The large man landed with a jarring thud on his back; Takaoka quickly sat up, nursing his slightly broken jaw.

They all turned their gazes back to Tsuna, who had a leg bent at his side, which he slowly set onto the ground.

The brunet's hands were in his pockets.

"....Takaoka-san...right?" Tsuna pulled one of his hands out of his pocket. "I must...kindly disagree with your thoughts." The brunet flicked his fedora up to reveal molten, sunset-orange eyes--he's angry, pissed beyond reason, flames barely under control--as he slowly dropped his hand back to his side. "...I don't f****** care if you're a new teacher here and it's for the d*** sake of the world.  I will not allow you to harm a single hair on one of my students here."

Everyone widened their eyes in shock and gaped at the brunet.

Takaoka's lips slowly formed a warped smile.

"Haha....HAHAHAHAHA!"

The man threw his head back as he laughed harder.

Takaoka slowly calmed down as he brought his narrowed gaze to the brunet as he continued to grin.

"I am their 'father'.  It wouldn't be nice to separate me from my 'family'."

Tsuna tugged his fedora down.

"....'Family' you say...." The brunet slowly walked over to the taller man, who was slowly getting up. "........" Tsuna stopped a few meters away from the other. "...Using fear on your 'family'?  Is that how you work?"

Takaoka ran a hand through his hair, grinning as he brushed his shirt off.

"Yep~!" The man suddenly leaned forwards slightly, keeping his face about a foot away from Tsuna's. "And you're in the way."

Grab!

Takaoka blinked in shock as he felt fingers wrapped tightly around his wrist; he looked downwards to see Karasuma, who was staring at the taller with narrowed, onyx eyes.

"Don't....be any rougher...."

Takaoka smiled blandly to the other, yanking his hand away as he hid the pain with his fake expressions.

"...Neh~I don't intend to fight with you using violence..." Takaoka smirked. "If we're going to have a showdown...it will be as teachers to the very end."

Takaoka reached into his jacket and pulled an Anti-Sensei knife out.

"You guys haven't accepted me either, right?  Your 'father' is reluctant to continue like this too...." The rounded man grinned as he brandished the knife around slightly. "So how about this?  We'll decide things with this!"

The students looks at the knife confusedly; Tsuna merely tugged his fedora down, hiding his expression.

Takaoka continued to smile.

"Karasuma, choose one student that you would recommend out of those you've raised."

Karasuma widened his eyes slightly in shock; Tsuna merely watched with his gaze shadowed by his fedora.

Takaoka continued to speak.

"They'll fight against me, and if they're able to hit me even once with the knife...I'll acknowledge that your teaching methods are better than mine." Takaoka grinned as he pounded a fist onto his chest. "Then I'll leave their training entirely to you and leave!  A man doesn't go back on his word!"

The students visibly brightened up at this, but Tsuna simply narrowed his eyes further; Takaoka walked over to his bag.

"But of course, if I win, I won't allow any further meddling either." He rummaged through his bag a he tossed the Anti-Sensei knife to the side. "This isn't the knife we'll be using..."

Everyone gasped softly when Takaoka slowly pulled out...a real knife.

The rounded man chuckled darkly.

"I, a human, am the one you're going to kill.  The knife used has to be the real deal."

Tsuna merely glanced over at a certain bluenet before bringing his gaze back to Takaoka.

Karasuma protested slightly.

"Stop this!  They aren't trained or prepared to kill a man!  Even if they hold  real knife, their bodies would just freeze up and they wouldn't be able to stab at all!"

Takaoka sneered at the ravenet.

"Don't worry.  Even if they stop short of cutting me, it'll still count." The man licked his lips. "I'll be unarmed, so you couldn't ask for a better handicap."

The students were already looking slightly discouraged at the sudden added rules to the test.

"Come, Karasuma!  Choose one!  If you don't like it, then obey me unconditionally!"

Takaoka laughed loudly.

"Will you abandon your students, or present one as a sacrifice!?  You'll be an awful teacher either way.  HAHAHAHA!"

Takaoka tossed the knife to Karasuma, and it landed in the grass.

Karasuma slowly bent down and yanked it out.

He studied the blade before looking at the students around him.

He saw his candidate, and blinked in surprise when he found Tsuna standing directly behind the teen.

The brunet lifted a hand and ruffled light, blue locks gently; sunset-orange eyes met Karasuma's onyx ones.

*I would've chosen the same person.*

Karasuma blinked in surprise at the message Tsuna sent with his eyes.

The Government Agent shook off his stupor and silently walked over to his choice candidate; he stopped before the teen.

"...Nagisa-kun...will you do it?"

The said bluenet blinked his sky-blue orbs in surprise.

"E-Eh?"

The class stared at them with shock.

'Wh.....Why...Nagisa...?!'

Karasuma gazed unwaveringly into Nagisa's eyes.

"If...I must choose, then it would probably be you, but before you answer, I want you to listen to my thoughts on the matter." The rest of Class E listened intently. "As part of the group entrusted with the mission of saving the earth, I think of all of you as fellow professionals."

On the side, Tsuna smiled as he tugged his fedora down, hiding his eyes as Karasuma continued.

"As fellow professionals...I believe the barest minimum you should receive as compensation is the guarantee of a normal middle school life." Nagisa blinked his eyes with slight surprise. "That's why...there's no need for you to force yourself to take this knife.  I will endeavor to request...that Takaoka maintain that 'compensation'."

Takaoka merely smirked on the side.

"If you bow to me dogeza-style, I'll consider it."

(O.D.D.- Dogeza-style is the most respectful form of a bow--you're on your hands and knees with your forehead on the ground. (<_<))
(Karasuma- You ruined the f****** mood. (−_−))
(O.D.D.- Gomenasai, Karasuma-san. _;))

On the other hand...Nagisa gazed into Karasuma's eyes before smiling tentatively, taking the blade out of the man's grasp.

00(Nagisa's POV)00

...I like the look in his eyes.

There is no one in our family who would look me in the eye when he or she talked.

I saw Karasuma-Sensei's surprised expression as I gripped the hilt.

There are probably a lot of things being kept from us about this situation--I don't know why he chose me either...

But...if this teacher is the one handing me the knife....I can trust his judgement.

I saw Tsuna-Sensei on the side; he had a knowing smirk on his face.....

I wonder why...

That aside...I need to get this guy back for what he did or I won't feel at ease.

I placed the real knife in my mouth as I stretched my arms.

"I'll do it."

00(End of Nagisa's POV)00

Tsuna watched as Nagisa stepped forwards.  Even though he was smirking slightly, the brunet was worried for the bluenet.

Karasuma gave his last tips to Nagisa as Takaoka mocked them.

The rounded man threw his jacket off as he got into a fighting stance.

Karasuma backed off as Nagisa got ready.

Takaoka smirked.

"Come at me!"

Silence fell onto the clearing.

Nagisa stared at the knife in his hand.

'...Karasuma-Sensei...' The bluenet closed his eyes briefly. 'That's right.  I don't need to fight to win.' Sky-blue orbs opened slowly. 'I just need to kill him...'

Nagisa then smiled brightly as he got out of his ready stance.

'So...I'll just smile...and approach him by walking normally...as normally as if I were walking...to school.'

The bluenet slowly made his way over to Takaoka, who was too stunned to move at the moment.

After a few steps, Nagisa's chest bumped softly with one of Takaoka's fists.

There was silence...before Nagisa made his move.

Swish!

Takaoka's brain started to function again as he widened his eyes.

I'mgonnadieI'mgonnadieI'mgonnadie!

He barely dodged as Nagisa swung his knife at Takaoka's neck; a small cut appeared.

Tsuna finally relaxed and knew who the winner would be.

Koro-Sensei chuckled as everyone else stared in shock.

Once Takaoka's balance was messed up, Nagisa merely tugged the back of the taller's clothes, bringing the other crashing to the ground.

Wrapping his limbs around the man from the back while pressing the knife to Takaoka's throat, Nagisa licked his lips slightly; his other hand was covering the man's eyes eyes.

"Gotcha."

Nagisa saw everyone's shocked expressions, especially Karasuma's; the bluenet sweatdropped.

"E-Eto...was I not supposed to use the back of the blade, Karasuma-Sensei?"

The Government Agent simply continued to stare at the other.

'This...is a talent for assassination!  Isn't this a talent...which should be fostered?!'

Koro-Sensei suddenly appeared and plucked the knife out of Nagisa's grasp, chuckling as he ate the weapon.

Everyone immediately congratulated Nagisa; Hiroto smacked Nagisa for a moment--not really believing that the bluenet in front of him was actually Shiota Nagisa.

Karasuma frowned as he studied the bluenet.

'...A talent...for assassination...'

"Nurufufu~you seem to be lost in your thoughts.  How unlike you, Karasuma-kun."

A tick mark appeared on the ravenet's head.

"That bad, is it?"

Koro-Sensei chuckled again before pointing his tentacle at the group.

"I think you should direct your attention to a more current problem."

Takaoka was out of his stunned state, snarling at the group in front of him.

Tsuna stepped closer to Nagisa, who was closest to Takaoka.

After the man's rant--Koro-Sensei was holding Karasuma back--Nagisa spoke.

"But Takaoka-Sensei...it should be clear that Koro-Sensei is our 'classroom teacher', Tsuna-Sensei is our 'cooking instructor and tutor', and Karasuma-Sensei is our 'training instructor'--that will absolutely not change."

Karasuma blinked in surprise and felt his heart warm at the words; Tsuna blushed briefly.

Irina made a disgruntled expression on the side.

"What am I to you guys?"

Kotaro answered while pushing his glasses up.

"Our Bitch."

Back with Nagisa...

"I feel that Karasuma-Sensei, who devotes himself to being professional, is much kinder than Takaoka-Sensei, who forcefully passes himself off as a 'father'." Nagisa looked at the other directly in the eye. "We're grateful that you gave your all trying to make us stronger, but...I'm sorry.  Please leave."

Takaoka looked ready to explode.

Koro-Sensei removed his tentacle from the stunned Karasuma.

"Nurufu~the happiest moment you can have as a teacher is when you're uncertain, and your students...provide you with a clear answer from the very teachings you have given them."

The octopus chuckled.

"And then...Karasuma-kun, the teacher must also give his students...a clear answer in response."

Before Takaoka could possibly harm anyone, Karasuma was there, sending a heavy blow with his elbow to the taller man's nose.

Karasuma smirked slightly before regaining his usual blank expression.

"...I apologize...for the trouble my colleague has caused." The ravenet jabbed a thumb at himself. "Don't worry about the rest.  I will negotiate with the higher-ups so I'll be able to serve as your sole training instructor.  If it becomes necessary, I'll even threaten them with a gun to get their agreement."

The students cheered and Tsuna smiled softly.

Takaoka held his bleeding nose as he glared at Karasuma.

"Kuh...like he** I'll let you.  I'll talk to them first and--!"

"Negotiations won't be necessary."

Tsuna quickly snapped his head to the building; he spotted a familiar maroon-haired man as the others gasped in surprise.

"B-Board Chairman!?"

Gakuho smiled as he quickly walked over to Takaoka.

A brief conversation was held and Gakuho stuffed a notice of dismissal into Takaoka's mouth.

With that, The Board Chairman left with a few chilling words.

"You at the Ministry of Defense do not have the power to appoint teachers in this school.  Do not forget that everything here is under my jurisdiction."

Takaoka's face was purple from his anger building up; he dashed away from the scene.

Class E immediately celebrated; Tsuna chuckled and spoke up.

"Neh, Mina-san!  I'll make any type of dessert you might like."

But one of the girls pouted.

"No!  Karasuma-Sensei should treat us for the hard work we did in getting him back as our P.E. teacher!"

Karasuma blinked in surprise before sighing, smirking amusedly.

"Alright.  I don't know a thing about sweets, but I've got my wallet out, so tell me what you want to eat when we get to town."

"Nyaaah!  Koro-Sensei wants in on that reward too!"

"What did you do Sensei?  You didn't do anything!"

The class celebrated again; Tsuna walked up next to the ravenet.

"I'll cash in if you need it."

Karasuma nodded a thanks before catching the other on the shoulder.

"Wait.....you knew that Nagisa would win, didn't you?"

Tsuna glanced back at the other and smiled.

"It's all intuition, Karasuma-san."

The brunet whistled a tune as he walked away.

Karasuma sighed before patting Nagisa on the back as the teen walked past the Government Agent.

The ravenet smiled slightly as he stared at the celebrating group in front of him.

'I might...have also ended up getting attached to this classroom.  Despite my uncertainty, it's enjoyable to train people.'

"Eeeeh?!  Koro-Sensei is following us while bowing dogeza-style!  He wants to eat sweets that badly!?"

Karasuma sighed, closing his eyes briefly in content.

'...Another crazy day...'
