Chapter Forty Three
Isaac's POV
I'm going to fucking kill him.
I pound on the door one last time, praying to baby Jesus that they're in this room. About two seconds later the idiot that I just so happen to be looking for opens the door, a wide grin on his face, but it doesn't last long. I quickly push the door open and take a step inside, socking Caleb in the face, maybe a little too hard because he ends up stumbling to the ground.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR PROBLEM?!" I shout, letting my anger drive me.
I've just about had it with this idiot. I tried to keep my cool with Caleb, I really did, seeing how he was my girlfriends older brother. Girlfriend? My pesky subconscious scoffed. Last time I checked you hadn't asked her out again. I mentally rolled my eyes, when a familiar cringing feminine voice gains my attention.
"I-Isaac?"
I glance over to the middle of the room, where the beds at to find Layla slowly getting off of it.
"Surprise princess, I'll get to you in a second," I point over at her, noting the instant fear in her eyes.
"Get up!" I focus my attention back on Caleb. He looks up at me confused as he slowly gets up, "do you have any idea how fuckin' lucky you got tonight?" I growl taking a step towards him.
"Isaac, stop!" Layla grabs ahold of my arm turning me back around. "Leave him alone, please!"
I scoff wrenching my arm away from her. Oh this is too perfect, she actually thinks I give a fuck about who she messes around with. I grab her by the face, my hand tight around her jaw and her hands immediately fly up to my wrist, "get him the fuck out of here, Ric," I growl behind me, never once taking my eyes off of Layla.
"Come on," I hear Ric command behind me, but I refuse to look in that direction.
This was actually a good thing, Layla not knowing that Caleb and I were aquatinted. I wouldn't personally call him a friend because I couldn't stand looking at his fuckin' face right now, I actually wanted to bash it in still. Shit could've really gone sideways when Dion and I realized that Zeb and him were some how aquatinted. I didn't know how close they actually were, all I knew was that Zeb worked for Ax and if Zeb actually knew Caleb like I think he did, then he had to have known about Hailey, and I couldn't risk anything getting back to her in any form of way, I couldn't put her in jeopardy, I wouldn't, I was barely starting to get her back.
I nearly lost my mind when I realized that Caleb took his ear piece out and turned it off. I actually wanted to come out from hiding and go get his dumbass from where he was at, but thankfully Dion had stopped me. He reminded me that we weren't back at home, we had to be cautious about every little thing. Ax legitimately had about twenty of his guys here at this fuckin' party, and everyone one of them knew my face, Dion's face, every single one of us, minus Caleb.
If anyone one of them found out that Summers was working for me or even suspected it and it got back to Verdino, Caleb would've been a dead man and there wouldn't have been anything that I could have done to stop it. We were in Mr. Verdino's turf, Axel's old mans side of the city, we were vulnerable out here.
Still grabbing ahold of Layla's face I start to take a few steps forward, forcing her to walk backwards until I'm slamming her back against a wall, "you my dear are one tough bitch to find."
I immediately sense Dion standing to the right of me, "KP," he murmurs.
I quickly glance over at him and note the blade that he's trying to hand me, I take it with my free hand and instantly point it in Layla's face. "You have something of mine and I want it back."
She begins to scowl me as her chest continues to rise up and down, but doesn't say anything. I drag the tip of the blade down her face as she slowly looks away but it's not enough to break her skin, at least not yet. I place it underneath her chin, tilting her face in my direction, forcing her to look at me. "Where's my fuckin' piece, Santiago?"
"I- I don't have it," she stammers.
"Well where the fuck is it?!"
A slow sinister smirk starts to form on her face, "I sold it," she says through clenched teeth.
"You did what?!"
"To Verdino," she adds and my blood immediately starts to fucking boil.
"You fuckin' bitch!" I snarl removing the blade away from her face, back handing her with my free hand which causes her to fall to the ground. I pound my fist into the wall out of anger and point the blade down at her, "you're fucking dead!"
She grabs ahold of her face, chuckling softly as she looks up at me, "you are not going to hurt me, Isaac, I think you forget that I know you sometimes."
I merely scoff at her, although she was some what right. Ma had raised me better than that, but then again I was my fathers son, and I will live up to my name when I need to.
I crouched down to her level my lips slowly tugging to the side. "That's where you're wrong, Santiago. You think you know me, but you don't," I scoffed. My hand shot out grabbing a good chunk of her hair, pulling her back up to her feet, slamming her against the wall once again as she winces.
"You know Isaac the guy you fucked around with from time to time, but you never actually knew me. I mean when have I really ever let you in? What do you actually know about me, Layla? You know just as much as a random stranger walking down the street does. I kept you out of my life, away from my family for a fucking reason," i spoke loudly.
"You know I think that you forget who I really am sometimes and I take full credit for that, that's my own fault, but you really shouldn't underestimate me, princess, you don't know the kingpin my father raised me to be. I respected you after everything that happened, only because you were a female. Shit, I didn't even care that you fuckin' drugged me. Thank you for that by the way, I'm still trying to convince my mother that I'm not some fuckin' drug addict; I'm too embarrassed to tell her that I let some slut get the best of me."
I notice that this actually gets to her, her eyes begin to glister with tears, only for a second though. "I never had any intentions on hurting you tonight, Santiago. Ask anyone of the guys. We were gonna come in, pick up my piece, scare you around for a bit and go home, but I just changed my mind. I've about had it with you. I didn't think you could go any lower than before, but you've managed to prove me wrong, again."
I grab ahold of her chin, tightening my grip on her jaw and her hands instantly tighten around mine as she winces. "Honestly Layla, you really ain't shit." I snarl getting closer to her face. "Do you honestly believe anyone would give a fuck about you if you didn't have such a pretty face?"
"And a bangin' body," Dion comments behind me.
I quickly turn back and smile at my best friend, "oh yes, thank you!" I turn back to Layla, holding the blade up in her face again, the point of it digging back into her cheek. "You'd be nothing if you didn't look as good as you do right now. If your daddy didn't have the money he did. I would've gladly given you a chance if you weren't so god damn crazy, Santiago, but your outside features don't make up for how ugly you really are inside. I mean, you're so god damn selfish, you literally do not care about anyone other than yourself."
"You're one to talk," she grits.
"No, you're right," I confessed. "I use to be the same way, and maybe that's why we got along so great at the beginning, but then you know what happened.. I met this amazing, sweet hearted girl on accident, and I started to see things differently." I start to chuckle softly, "turns out that I need her more than she needs me."
Layla doesn't say anything, she continues to softly glare at me, attempting to remove my grip from her face, "enough of my love life though, back to why we're actually here. You're not wrong though, I didn't want to hurt you. My mother raised me better than that, to never lay my hands on a lady, then again you're not really a lady are you, Santiago?"
I drag the edge of Dion's blade down her face, actually breaking her skin this time and she immediately starts to squirm around, whimpering from the pain. I let go of her and she instantly falls to the floor crying, her hand now placed over her bloody cheek.
I crouch down next to her, "look at me, Layla."
She hesitates, but after a few seconds go by I'm being greeted by her dark brown orbs, tears still spilling out of them, as her hand over her cheek continues to tremble. "Let this be a lesson to you, Santiago, you crossed some dangerous lines tonight. I don't care how you do it or what you have to do, but you have 72 hours to get my piece back, or I can assure you that the next time I will leave a scar on that pretty face."
I stand up to my full height and hand the blade back to Dion, "let's go, Dee."
~~~~
Layla's was starting to hit her 72 hour mark and I still hadn't heard a damn thing from her dumbass. I had a good feeling that she wasn't going to get me what I wanted it and I was going to have to turn it over to my pops, and I really didn't want to do that. He would've blew it out of proportion after finding out who actually had my fucking gun. My fingerprints were all over that fuckin' glock, if Layla's as smart as I think she is I know that she would've kept her fingerprints off of it, making it so easy for Verdino to frame me for some dumb shit just to get back at me.
Although Layla still had about a day left to get me my piece, I called her this morning and she didn't answer right away, not until like maybe the third call and I immediately started barking into the phone, asking her what the fuck was taking her so god damn long. She instantly started crying, talking about how she's trying but that it's harder than she thought. I really didn't care to hear her excuses so I hung up on her, but not before reminding her of her time frame.
I didn't want to focus all my attention on Layla, i still had Hailey at the back of my mind, still trying to figure out how I'm gonna earn her trust back. Surprisingly she's been texting and calling me these past couple of days, but I've been dodging her thanks to Santiago. She wanted to see me, and god I wanted to see her so badly, hold her in my arms all over again, but I didn't want to be around Hailey and have her find out that Layla's over here texting me and calling me, I wouldn't even know where to begin to explain myself.
I still wanted to keep her as far away from this part of my life, but I was starting to lose that fight, it was starting to get harder and harder to hide things from her, especially now when I'm trying to earn her trust again. Plus, I was currently still under house arrest so I technically couldn't even see Hailey if I wanted too, ma was really sticking to this grounding this time and it was starting to drive me insane. Pops had eased up and gave me my phone back, but only because he needed to communicate with me while he ran a couple errands over the weekend.
He even actually sent me out on a job today so of course that meant that I had to miss school, and I wouldn't get to see Hailey, which really bummed me out but at least I would get to see her tomorrow, or at least I'm hoping. I left the house about 8:40 am, of course with one of my father's men driving me around, and didn't make it back home until a little before 3pm I believe. I turned pops money in and he immediately started barking for me to head down into the basement, that Jeremiah was downstairs waiting for me.
I groaned softly while mentally rolling my eyes, I really wasn't in the mood to train today, I was exhausted, physically and mentally. I headed up stairs to my bedroom really quick to get out of my clothes and throw something a little more comfortable on.
I was down in the basement with Jeremiah for about two hours when he decided I had enough for the evening, and instructed that I give him half an hour on the treadmill and I was free to go. If I wasn't exhausted then I was exhausted now.
Jeremiah never ever really stuck around when I worked on my cardio, so seeing how I was left alone I walked rather than run. I had been speeding walking for about thirteen minutes when I heard a soft tapping sound come from the window behind me.
I turn back to find Hailey standing out in the hallway, smiling, waving over at me. I immediately smile in return and make a hand gesture for her to come in, but she shakes her head no and point towards the door when I realized that it's closed.
I slam my hand on the emergency stop button, shutting the machine off. I grab the small white rag that's hanging on the handle and wipe my face down before actually getting off of the treadmill. I toss it onto the ground and make my way towards the shut door and open it for Hailey.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I instantly smile. I want to go in for a kiss, but I don't know if I'd be crossing the line so I hesitate, something I've never done.
"I tried calling you, but you didn't answer," she says, walking up to me.
"Oh shit, I'm sorry, I left my phone up stairs."
She gazes up at me, inching closer and closer, "I missed you at school today."
"Yeah?" I smirk, reaching an arm around her waist when she's at arms length and pull her into me.
She nods wrapping her arms around my neck, and I'm surprised but thrilled that she actually leans in for a kiss, locking our lips together. "Who let you in?" I smile against her soft lips.
"The big scary guy at the front gate."
I chuckle, "Lino? He's harmless, you're probably more vicious than he is," I tease her. "How was school?"
"Okay," she says. "Would've been better if you were there."
"Tomorrow," I tell her, a little unsure about it. "Pops made me run some errands out of town today."
"You're in one piece so I take it everything went well?" She smiles softly.
I chuckle nodding my head, pulling her back in for another kiss. "It's nothing I can't handle," I smile before meeting her lips, and God how I miss her sweet touch. I want to grab her by her waist and lift her off of this floor, lock her legs around me and carry her upstairs, devour every inch of her body until she can't handle it anymore. I miss everything about her. I want her so bad.
I feel my little man start to grow in my basketball shorts and decide to cut our kiss short, I don't want have to explain that I have half a stiffy going on right now when it starts to poke her stomach.
"Guess what I got today," she says, gaining my full attention. I don't guess though, I stay quiet, letting her continue on what she has to say. She digs into her jean pocket and pulls out a little flip remote key thing, and holds it up with a huge smile on her face.
I immediately snatch the car key away from her, "nooo," I grin. "Are you serious?"
"Yeah," she grins in return. "It was in the drive way when I got home from school."
"Fucking aye," I continue to smile and grab ahold of her face with both of my hands, cupping it as I kiss her. "Congratulations, baby!"
I immediately regret my choice of words and quickly let go of her face, taking a step back. "I'm sorry, I got a little over excited. I-uh, It slipped."
She shakes her head, continuing to smile still, "its fine, Isaac."
I nod as my smile slowly starts to vanish from my face. I hated hearing her call me by my first name, rather than baby, or babe. The only time I did like it was when she was moaning it, and she as sure as hell wasn't doing that right now.
Dude, get your head out of the gutters!
I look down at her key in my hand, and stare at the three buttons on the control. She had a Hyundai, an Elantra to be exact. The control had a lock button on the top, a middle button with the word Elantra on it, and her last button was the unlock button.
I smile and hand her the key back, "I'm so happy for you, Hail, really."
"Thank you," she blushes. "Wanna go for a drive?" She beams with excitement.
"God you don't even know how much I would love that, Hail, but I'm still grounded."
"I asked your mom already," she grins.
"You what?"
"She was pulling up at the same time I was and I asked if your dad was home, because I was originally going to ask him if you could go out for a bit, and she said that was fine, that I didn't need Carmelo's permission."
I stay quiet for a couple seconds, admiring the shit out of the little red head standing in front of me. My face actually begins to hurt, and I realize that I have not stopped smiling since this girls came down here.
I quickly grab her by the waist, a huge grin on my face, "you're amazing, you know that?"
"A little bit," she smirks, giving me a quick peck. "Come on, put a shirt on, lets go."
I chuckle and nod my head, "okay, give me 10 minutes, Ima rinse off real quick."
A/N: I promise to make this quick guys lol but first of all I just want to apologize for the slow updates. I have about two months left of school, no, actually like a month and a half probably before I leave to my externship and that's really starting to freak me out. I've been crazy swamped with homework and other things that I've had so little time to actually find the time to write. And yes I do have some free time during the weekends, but I've been so stressed out that I've actually hit a small writers block and had no motion to actually write, but I'm trying to pull myself out of this funk. Anyways here's a smallish chapter, I hope you guys enjoy it!
