Chapter Forty Four
Hailey's POV
When Isaac said he was going to rinse off really quick, he actually meant really quick. He didn't even take up his full ten minutes, he was out in about seven minutes tops. I know this because I got stuck on Facebook watching a video that was about thirteen minutes long, and Isaac was out, dressed, and ready to go by the time the video ended.
I couldn't help but watch him dress in front of me, and immediately blushed when he caught me staring as he just smirked. Isaac had walked out in nothing but a towel when he was done showering, but when he removed it I was a little sad to find out that he was wearing black boxers underneath. I wanted him so bad, I missed feeling the passion from his strong hands as he gripped my body, but I was too embarrassed to actually tell him. I wanted him to make that move, I wanted to hear that he wanted me just as bad as I wanted him, but he was barely touching me, keeping his distance.
Isaac throws on a pair of black sweats and a hoodie over his torso, covering up those beautiful tattoo's that I've come to love so much. He grabs his Adidas hat that hangs on the inside of his closet, along with his many other hats and we step out of his bedroom. He makes a couple pit stops before we actually make it out doors, looking for either one of his parents but Mr. Bevens informs him that they're not home.
After what seems to feel like forever, we finally step out of Isaac's mansion to see my new baby still parked out in his drive way. Words couldn't even begin to explain how excited I was to find out that it was actually mine when my dad handed me the keys. I immediately called Isaac because he was the first person that I wanted to tell, he was actually my person that I wanted to tell everything to now, but his phone immediately went to voicemail, as always.
It really wasn't such a shocker getting his voicemail anymore, I've learned to realize that he would eventually call me back, however the times he did pick up those we're a shocker. Isaac was so busy all the time, and now that he did have some free time on his hands we still couldn't utilize it because he was still grounded, so I was actually pretty great full that Mrs. Matteo agreed to let Isaac out, according to him she absolutely adores me.
We walk down his cobblestone driveway until we're both standing next to my car, Isaac on the passenger side while I stand next to the driver door, pressing the unlock button on my key. The car instantly unlocks and Isaac goes to reach for the door, but there's a huge grin spread across his face.
"What are you smiling about?" I wonder out loud, reaching for the door handle.
Isaac shakes his head no while placing his arm on top of my car, "am I going to come back home in one piece if I get in this car with you?" He teases.
"Excuse me?" I place my hand over my chest, acting as if what Isaac said actually hurt me. I begin to smile, "I'll have you know that I am a perfectly good driver, I do have my license."
Isaac chuckles softly, "anyone can get their license, princess, it doesn't necessarily mean you're a good driver though." He shoots a wink in my direction and takes a seat in the passenger seat, shutting the door behind him.
I huff a puff of air through my nose while taking my own seat, sticking my key into the ignition, "I don't see why you're complaining," I turn to smile at him, "it's not like this is your first time driving with me." Isaac turns to look at me, furrowing his eyebrows, confusion written all over his face. "Oh, you don't remember?" I tease him in return as I start my engine. "Figures."
"I don't have any recollection of this event," he smiles as my music starts to play softly in the background.
"No, you wouldn't," I continue to smile. "As I recall you were puking your brains out on account of how drunk you were."
"Ahhh," he chuckles softly, "makes sense now." I motion to change the song that's currently playing, when Isaac reaches for my hand to stop me. "Leave it, its fine."
"No," I smile, attempting to change it again. The last song that I was listening to before I got out of the car was Baptize by RKCB. I wasn't necessarily embarrassed in my music taste, I just knew that normal people probably didn't really care for indie type of music. Come to think of it, I didn't even know what was Isaac's favorite type of music. He always played a couple of rap songs in the car when we drove around, but that was it really.
Isaac grabs ahold of my wrist again preventing me from changing the song, when he pushes my arm downwards and leans over the middle compartment smiling, his face mere inches away from mine. He begins to grin and my little heart immediately goes crazy when he starts to sing the next part of the song, "you keep saying that you'll save me, show me how I make you feel." He closes in on the little space in between us and locks our lips together, continuing the rest of the verse. "I don't mean to keep you waiting, I -"
"Wanna turn in you, breathe deeper, get lost in your waves," I sing back softly and giggle as Isaac pecks me on the lips one last time, and sits back into the passenger seat. "How do you know RKCB?" I smile.
He glances over at me while doing his seatbelt, "I think you forget that one of my best friends is a female."

We continue to drive around town for a bit, when my stomach actually begins to rumble and I decide that I want to get something to eat really quick.
I drive Isaac and me to a little burger shop downtown that my family, and myself absolutely loved. They were famously known for their chili cheese tots, and I really couldn't believe that Isaac had never heard of this place when I told him about it, but then again his family and he hardly ever ate out so it was understandable.
Another good reason why I loved this restaurant so much was because that they had a small patio outside in the front so you got to choose whether you wanted to eat outside or inside, but seeing how it was 40 degrees outside right now we decided to eat in doors. I actually took the liberty of paying for our meal before Isaac could reach for his wallet and he immediately scowled me. He always had the need to pay for everything, he was the man, in his mind it was the gentlemanly thing to do, but I was a lady, and if I had the money I was sure as hell going to spoil him back for all the times he had spoiled me.
Needles to say Isaac and I were having a good time, or at least I was. We had made it past all the small awkward talk and we're having real genuine conversations, or at least I was talking his head off. Isaac on the other hand was preoccupied with his phone, glancing down at it every two minutes. Don't get me wrong the boy could multitask, although his phone was a big distraction right now, Isaac was listening to every word I had said, but I wanted more so I stayed quiet finishing the last of my tots. Isaac had devour his chili cheese tots in less than five minutes, I think it's safe to say that he was now a fan of them.
Isaac finished replying to who ever he was texting as I toyed around with my chili cheese tots, rolling it back and fourth on my plate with my fork when Isaac finally decides to look up, a soft frown on his face.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
He shakes his head mildly, "you stopped talking out of no where."
This actually takes me a little by surprise, I wouldn't have thought that he would've notice. I stab my last tot with my fork plopping it into my mouth and shrug my right shoulder, "I just figured that the conversation on your phone was more important."
I notice that Isaac shoulders immediately tense up and he has an almost guilty expression, "I'm sorry, Hail." He places his phone facing down to the right of him, at the edge of the table. "Please don't stop, I love hearing you talk."
I try my hardest not to blush like an idiot but fail miserably and smile up at him, he smiles back in return when his cell phone starts to vibrate on the table and we both glance down at it, and my smile instantly disappears. "Answer it," I grumble.
Isaac forces a smile on his face, shaking his head, while silencing his call, "let it ring."
I stare at him for a couple seconds when what do you know, his phone starts to vibrate for a second time. Isaac groans softly murmuring a sorry and lifts his phone up to check who's calling. He looks up at me with the annoyance from before long gone and now replaced with a hint of worry, "it's my mom," he mutters.
"Answer it."
He glances down at his phone, sliding his thumb across his screen, placing it next to his ear. "What is it, ma? Is everything okay?... No, I'm still with Hailey. What's wrong? ... Are you serious woman?" Isaac voice is now laced with a hint of irritation. "I'm not sassing you, mom! I-" Isaac never gets the chance to finish what he has to say, I can hear his mom yelling from where I'm sitting at as Isaac drops his face into his hand, nodding his head although his mom can't see.
He sighs deeply a couple more times as he continues to listen to what his mom is telling him, "okay," he replies. I sit quietly listening to the one sided conversation in front of me, "yes... No, I'm not giving you attitude, ma... okay.. okay... three pounds?.. okay.. I love you too."
I continue to watch Isaac quietly as he runs a hand down his face, exhaling deeply while setting his phone back down onto the table. "Is everything okay?" I wonder aloud.
"Yeah," he replies softly. I can tell that somethings bothering him, but he's being reluctant. Isaac notices me staring at him and forces a small smile on his face, "everything's fine," he tries to reassure me. "My mom, she thinks it's funny to blow my phone up over some meat that she wants me to pick up for her."
I laugh softly at this, as Isaac places a hand against his temples, massaging them. "She doesn't under that when she calls me more than twice, back to back, it immediately worries me and I automatically think somethings wrong," he chuckles.
"Maybe she really needs the meat," I smile. This earns a deep chuckle from him, "where does she want it from? I can drive you there."
"No you're fine," he adds while standing up, tossing our trash onto the tray that sits in between us. "The shops right here in town, we can walk, if you don't mind."
"Of course not," I beam with happiness, lifting the tray from the table and Isaac quickly pulls it from my grasp. He grabs his phone, stuffs it into his pants and walks over to the trash bins, throwing it away.
We walk out of the little restaurant as Isaac holds the door open for me, and instantly reaches for my hand when were out on the sidewalk. I don't necessarily yank my hand away from him but his little gesture does take me by surprise, and I quickly turn to look at him. He frowns a bit at my reaction, a hint of worry behind those dark intense eyes, gesturing if he should let go and I squeeze onto his hand, reassuring him that it's okay.
He immediately relaxes and we continue our way down town, and I really can't help but mildly laugh on the inside. Isaac was never the type of person who lacked confidence, I mean he still didn't, he was one of the most confident persons that I ever knew, a far from his line of confident friends. But now, now he needed some type of reassurance, as if he was almost afraid to do anything around me, say anything around me, and I completely understood why, maybe I was being a little too hard on him.
Once we're standing in front of the butcher shop, Isaac instantly reaches for the door, holding it open as I walk through. Isaac immediately gets greeted the second he steps into the shop.
"Ciao! Antonio!" A deep voice shouts from the left of us. I turn to look in the direction that Isaac is now walking towards, and see a heavy set man walking through two set of the doors. "I literally just got off il telefono con tua madre, Benny's cutting up the meat right now. It'll be ready in 10 minutes, is okay?"
Isaac chuckles softly, leaning onto the deli that is displayed in between him and the older man. "Sí, Angelo, I'm in no hurry today."
Angelo smiles and mumbles something to Isaac in Italian, then looks up at me as I walk up to both gentlemen. "Can I help you, Miss?" He smiles kindly.
"Oh," I smile in return, while shaking my head softly. "I'm-"
"She's with me," Isaac smiles, looking over his shoulder.
I feel my cheeks instantly threatening to turn a light pinkish color as I continue to grin like an idiot, when my phone starts to vibrate in my purse. I dig into my bag and see my dads name is displayed on my screen. I sigh a little annoyed, he's probably calling me so I can go back home already, he wasn't too happy that I came over to Isaac's.
I look up at Isaac and lift my phone up a bit, "Ima go outside, my dads calling."
He nods and in forms me that he'll be right out and I turn to step back out of the store. My dad hangs up as I walk back over to the front door, which means he'll probably be even more upset that I didn't answer. I sigh for a second time because he'll probably automatically start yelling at me the second I call him back. I grab onto the door handle, pushing it open, but my heads so preoccupied that I'm not paying any attention and notice that I almost hit someone that was walking by.
"I am so sorry!" I say immediately as I walk out of the shop.
The man turns back around, a huge smile now on his face, "it's fine- Hailey?"
"Oh my god, Axel! What are you doing here?" I exclaim, taking a few steps in his direction.
"I'm just doing some shopping with my little sister," he tilts his head back at the small brunette who's standing behind him. I smile at the little girl and she smiles back faintly, still hiding behind her brother. "It's her birthday this upcoming weekend and my mother wants her cake only from the little bakery down the street."
"Ooo, Portacakes?" He nods. "I don't know, they do make some pretty amazing cakes," I smile. "My dad actually bought my brothers graduation cake from there, and oh my god it was delish!"
Ax chuckles softly, "you have sibling's?"
I nod, "just one, he's older. Do you have anymore?"
"No, thank god," he chuckles softly. "I can barely handle Belle sometimes. She's the reason why I don't want kids," he teases, playfully nudging her as she softly glares at him. "You never called me," he mutters, a hint of a smirk on his face.
"Yeah-" I'm about to answer him, when I hear a small little ding and look back to see Isaac walking out of the little shop we were just in.
"And now I can see why," Axels voice drops an octave, as he continues to stare at Isaac behind me.
I want to tell him that Isaac had nothing to do with why I never called him, that were not together, that we're still broken up, but I really didn't have the need to explain myself to him.
I turn back to look at Isaac to find his phone now glued to his ear and notice the harsh glare on his face, mirroring the same one on Axel's, when he tilts his head to the side indicating that I go to him.
"You better go," Axel scoffs softly finally breaking their eye contact, "wouldn't want to keep him waiting."
I smile apologetically, "its was nice meeting you, Belle."
"You too," she says softly, smiling widely, clinging onto her older brothers hand.
There's a small hint of worry at the back of my mind that something could happen to this little girl if Isaac is on the phone with his friends. We were in town still, Carmelo's side of the city, Isaac's side of town, meaning Axel was defenseless out here, that the little 7 year old was totally vulnerable if something were to happen to her brother, or worse her.
"We better get going, Isabelle, see you around, Summers."
I tell them bye softly and watch them walk away until they're out of sight, and turn back around to walk towards Isaac. He was no longer on his phone, but I could instantly tell that he was upset. Isaac wasn't the type of guy to wear his heart on his sleeve, but you could sure as hell tell when he was mad, annoyed, irritated, frustrated, you name it.
I plaster a small smile on my face when I finally reach him, "did you get what you needed?"
"Yeah," he answers quick and short as we begin to walk back towards my car. I know that he's upset because he hasn't reached for my hand, like when we first walked over here. "Did you call your dad back?"
Crap, no. I don't lie to him though, "I didn't get the chance to."
Isaac doesn't reply and we continue to walk in a tedious silence, until he speaks up again. Only he's asking about Axel this time. "Who was your friend?" I frown and turn to look at him, "what?" He presses.
"Because you really don't know who that is," I retort.
"Fine, let me rephrase myself," he grumbles. "How do you know Axel?"
I thought of being a sarcastic asshole, but that's probably not the best idea seeing how he's already in a pissy mood. "We met a party," I say.
Isaac quickly comes to a halt and grabs onto my arm, turning me around to face him, "what fucking party?" He frowns. "When?"
"When you were missing," I snarl through clenched teeth, wrenching my arm away from him. "There was this asshole who wouldn't leave me alone, and Axel was kind enough to get rid of him for me!"
Isaac doesn't say anything for a couple seconds, "you were out of town?" He implies.
"What was I suppose to do, Issac?! Stay home the whole time and cry my heart out, while you fucked some girls brains out?!"
Isaac instantly grimaces and looks down at the pavement, as my eyes begin to water up from how upset I am now. I turn around and storm off to my car before Isaac can see me cry. I unlock my doors and quickly get inside locking the doors as the tears start to slowly stream down my face.
I cry in my car for about a minute, trying to stop the tears when Isaac is standing at the passenger window, tapping on the glass. "Open the door, Hail, please."
I don't, instead I let out a tiny sob, "you have no right being mad at me right now!"
"I know, princess, I'm not, unlock the door please."
I hesitate for about a second or two, but end up letting him in. Isaac opens the door and sits in the passenger seat quietly, as I look out the window, away from him, attempting to calm down.
"Hail, stop please. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have got upset. I don't want to fight with you, princess." I don't say anything, I continue to glance out my window. "Will you look at me, please."
I turn to look at him, "I'm sorry," he murmurs. "I don't want us to keep moving backwards, i know that my tempers always on the loose, but I'm working on it. It's just that Axel.. he- I don't trust him," he says. "I don't like that you know him, Hail. He's not a nice guy."
"He's been nothing but respectful the times that I've seen him, Isaac."
"How many times have you seen him?"
"This would be the third," I say.
This only aggravates him even more, he grimaces again and turns to look out his window, attempting to keep his temper at bay. Isaac in hales a deep breath, exhaling it slowly. "He's not who you think he is, princess," Isaac averts his gaze over at me. "Axel doesn't have a decent bone in his body, this little nice act of his, it won't last long, he fishing for something. You don't know half the things he's capable of, Hailey."
I scoff a bit, "I don't know half the things you're capable of, yet here we are." Isaac stays quiet, glancing down at the floor. "He's not my friend," I tell him. "And I don't care to be his friend. I wouldn't do that to you. He just so happen to be passing by when I walked out. If it'll make you feel better I'll avoid him from now on."
Isaac still doesn't say anything, but his attention is no longer on the floor, it's on me now. I hated when Isaac just stood or sat there staring at me, I always felt like he was looking into my soul, or right through me with his intense gaze. I always tend to lose myself looking into Isaac's beautiful brown eyes. They were the deepest brown you could possibly ever see, but they had a soft gentleness to them that I absolutely loved.
"What?" I quirk.
He frowns as he starts to smile softly, "what do you mean what?"
"I mean why do you keep staring at me."
He shrugs his shoulders, quickly glancing back at the floor. "I miss you."
I don't say anything in return this time. I can't bare to see the sad look on his face and I'm forced to look away. I hear him sigh deeply beside me and my eyes immediately threaten to wear up again and a few lone tears are starting to stream down my cheeks. God all I do is cry. I quickly go to wipe the tears from my face.
"Hail," he mutters oh so softly that he voice strains, placing his hand on my thigh.
I move my leg removing his touch away from me, "don't, Isaac, please, just don't."
"I'm trying, Hailey, I'm going to fix this, I promise."
I let out a small breathy laugh, "that's not what's bothering me, Isaac. I know you're trying, baby, but I can't stand seeing this new you. You're not you, it's not the Isaac I fell in love with. You're more distant now than you ever were," I glance down at his phone, which is now in his hand. He had pulled it back out a couple seconds ago.
He looks down at it for a second and back up to me, then back down at it and I see him turn it off completely and throw it into my glove department. "No more distractions. No more work." He reaches for my hand lightly squeezing it, "I'm all yours."
I smile softly, shaking my head, "Isaac-"
"Go out with me tomorrow," he quickly interrupts me. "Not like this, not as friends. I don't just want to be your friend, I can't, I need to be more, I want to be more. Let me take you out on a real date again. Were starting over, right?"
I nod my head, "okay," I smile. "Under one condition."
"Name it."
"Get a hair cut, no more hats," I tease.
Isaac chuckles, tracing his tongue over his bottom lip, "I can do that."
I'm back babies! Enjoy 💕
