Alexander Gonzales
I'm sitting across from Mia at breakfast. Trying not to let my thoughts drift back to the way we woke up. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still thinking about it. How her leg had been draped over me, her head on my chest. Sleeping peacefully.
I take a sip of my coffee, glancing at her from the corner of my eye. She's trying to act normal, like the whole thing didn't faze her. But I can tell that it did. Her fingers tap against her water glass, her shoulders just a little too tense.
Ezra breaks the silence. He's sensing it all, I know it. He's smart. Usually knows stuff before anyone else does. "How did you guys sleep? Was the room cozy?" He asks.
Mia freezes slightly, and I hold back a smirk. This is going to be fun.
"It was...comfortable." I say casually, watching Mia shift in her seat.
"You didn't kill each other right?" Amelia asks laughing at the joke.
Kill? More like cuddle.
I don't miss the way Mia hesitates before responding. "No one died, and the room was fine." She answers trying to keep it natural.
Ezra chuckles at her response.
"I've never seen you so well rested though Alex. You look like you actually got some sleep for once." Amelia says smiling at me.
I pause, my coffee cup halfway to my mouth. I glance at Mia, and for a split second, we lock eyes. She was the reason I slept through the night for the first time in god knows how long.
"Yeah. I actually did." I say, slowly setting down my cup.
There's just something about Mia's presence, something that quiets the noise in my head, that means it easier to relax.
"Must be the fresh air." Ezra says almost as a joke. Is he trying to expose us?
It's not the fresh air though. It's her.
Mia shifts uncomfortably, and I can't help but enjoy it a little.

The rest of the day is supposed to be relaxing. We're all by the pool, walking around like we don't have a care in the world. I've got my sunglasses on, trying to stay as casual as possible, but it's hard to focus when Mia's strutting around in that damn swimsuit.
She's wearing this red thing that clings to her body in all the right places, her hair damp from the water, sticking to her back. She looks completely at ease laughing with Amelia like she's not wrecking me with every glance.
"Stop staring." Ezra says from beside me, his arms crossed. I turn to look at him.
"What? I'm not." I say protesting.
He grins. "You have to realise, that's your sisters best friend." Ezra says shaking his head.
"I would say...don't go there." He adds, giving me advice. Really good advice I probably should listen to.
She's my sisters fucking best friend. Did she have to be.
"I...I know. Im not going to. I wouldn't do that to Amelia." I say as Ezra pats my shoulder twice, then heads to his wife.
I sit on one of the pool chairs, scrolling through my phone. Trying to keep myself busy. But every time she moves, my eyes follow.
"Hey Alex!" Mia's voice cuts through.
I look past my phone. She's swimming towards me, to the edge of the pool.
"Can you give me my towel?" She asks nicely.
I sigh. "You have legs Mia." I say.
"Come on, be a good boy and bring me my towel, please?" She says.
My heart practically stutters. Good boy. What the fuck?
My whole body goes rigid, and I feel a twitch, right where I don't need it. Of all the things she could've said, that was the one that got me.
She's grinning at me, completely unaware of the effect she's having, or maybe she knows exactly what she's doing.
I shift uncomfortably in my chair, trying to adjust without being obvious.
I'm turned on. Fucking hard.
I stand up and grab the towel from the chair beside me, holding it open in front of me.
She climbs out of the pool, droplets of water scattering around her. I hold the towel out and she steps forward, letting me wrap it around her body. Oh god.
"You know...I didn't think you'd be so obedient." Her voice lower now, teasing.
She turns back to face me. I can't look her in the eyes. I don't trust myself to say anything right now. Instead I force a low chuckle, pretending like I'm still in control. "Just don't expect it every time." I say before making my way inside the hotel.
