JAX'S POV

"Hey, are you awake?" Daniel was shaking me, I cracked open my eyes to be greeted with broad daylight and my friend's face. I pushed him away then croaked,

"Yeah, I'm awake," I sat up and groaned. My head hurt like it was being torn in half.

"Did I miss roll call again?" I asked. Daniel replied with a swift "Yeah."

I got up from my bed and walked towards the long, dirty mirror next to my bed.

I was a tall, skinny kid. My hair was the darkest black I knew, and my skin was a chocolate brown. (I was Mexican. Probably. Well I looked like it. Who knows?) I had hazel eyes, that got darker when I got angry. I had a creepy reputation but I also had pretty good sense of humor. (My friend Caia calls me a vampire. I don't know why.)

"Dude. We're really late now." Daniel said. I had to get my chores done quick. I brushed past him and walked towards the cafeteria and I thought I saw a black figure in front of me. I started sweating an extremely cold sweat. Then my vision blurred and I fell to my knees. Daniel ran with his usual limp towards me and grabbed me.

"Are you okay?" It seemed to come from down a long tunnel. Then suddenly everything cleared.

"Yeah, I'm fine."
