My house phone rang, which I only have to control the security gate out in front of my house.
It was listed in the directory, but anyone who I know calls my cell phone.

When it was someone buzzing at the gate, the phone rang two short rings.

The ringing that woke me now was one solid ring, meaning someone was calling from a phone.

Who the hell is calling me on my land line

I reached over and grabbed a phone connected to the line, glancing at my cell phone that read a little after one o'clock in the morning.

"Yeah", I said into the phone, my eyes closed.

"Niall, it's Flynn"

"Flynn. Yeah. What's...", I turned over to look to my left, where Gwen was not.

I quickly sat up, only half listening to what Flynn was saying.

I heard him say it was none of his business, whatever that meant. I made my way out of my room and heard Flynn say the words "out back", "noise", "trying to sleep"

"Got it, Flynn, I'll take care of it", I said fast, running toward the kitchen to get to the back of the house.

My eyes landed on the wine bottle that was now empty.

Gwen drank the WHOLE BOTTLE

My heart raced as I ran outside, jerking my head in every direction, searching, but I didn't see her.

Suddenly, Gwen's voice broke through the night's silence and my head whipped toward where it came from.

It came from the pool house.

My hand grasped the doorknob and the door flew open.
