"I'm the king of Drakkons," The man in front of me declared while I laid there, unable to believe it. I was right inside the enemy's house and from what it seemed, he had no idea who I really was. If I wished to have my head attached to my neck then I needed to play along with it.
"Oh," I muttered at that moment because my brain was still frozen and I didn't know what to say, "Can you tell me how you found me again?" I asked him, rubbing my head. There was some pain at the back of it. I couldn't remember how I got it.
His eyes remained focused on me fervently for a whole moment before he flashed me a small, welcoming smile and told me again, "You were caught in an avalanche. My men found you while they were patrolling the area. Do you remember anything?"
I blinked at the ceiling, letting his words sink in. Slowly and gradually, I started to remember everything. The tunnel, the basilisk, Lua killing those basilisks, that awful smell from the eggs, me dashing out of the tunnel for fresh air and then being hit by an avalanche.
"Er... yeah, I do remember being hit by an avalanche," I muttered, rubbing my hair. I noticed that my hair was completely open which was odd because I usually kept it braided.
"Do you remember anything before that, Ruel?" He asked me very keenly. I glanced at him through the corner of my eyes. His eyes had been trained over my face all this time. He was sitting beside my bed, looking at me as if I was a chest of treasures.
"Err.." I grumbled, rubbing my head, "I do remember going hunting," I tried to come up with something. It was hard for me to function properly with his blue eyes were watching me so keenly all the time without even blinking once. "How many days have I been asleep?"
"Three," His answer made my eyes go wide and I sat up with a jerk, sweating.
Three fvcking days! That was a lot of time! I wondered what Ezekiel was doing? Did he know that I was here? I had a feeling that he didn't know that I was here yet otherwise he'd have gotten me out of here even before I could wake up.
Since I was here alone now, for the most part, I needed to find out a way to reach to them and tell them that I was here, or even worse— I needed to get myself out of here from under their noses before these Drakkons could realize that I am not who I'm claiming to be.
"Oh, that's a lot of time! I must return to my tribe! My people would be worried!" I told him and instantly saw something flicker in his eyes. He definitely looked unhappy with my wish to leave his camp.
"Ruel," the man before me spoke grimly, "I don't want you to leave so early. You have to stay with me for a while," His words had my heart racing for all the wrong reasons, and the way he was looking at me with those blue eyes of his, I wanted to run for the hills.
I could somewhat understand what he meant by that. The possessiveness in his eyes somewhat confirmed that and it scared me to an extent.
"Wh-why? I... I need to go back to my tribe, King of Drakkons," I tried my best to plead to him as innocently as I could. If this doesn't work then I could always kill him in his sleep or poison his drinks.
"You're going to stay with me here and that's my order!"
"But I'm not one of your subjects. I'm a girl of this valley and I belong to my tribe," I told him but this didn't waver the determination and possessiveness from his eyes. Instead, it grew even more, feeding my fear.
"This valley would be soon mine and so would be you. Until then, you are going to stay with me," His words were a command and even though I really knew what was going to happen, I couldn't do anything at the moment.
All I could do was play along and wait for Ezekiel to realize that I'm here or just find a way to send Ezekiel a message about me being here. Until then, I have to stay low.
"Oh, King of Drakkons but I have a family and I would miss them," I battled my eyelashes at him and pleaded like a damsel. Peering into his eyes innocently while forcing a couple of fake tears out. His eyes followed my tears as they rolled down my cheek.
I didn't miss how his eyes lingered on my lips for a long moment before he looked me back into my eyes, appearing softer this time. He was instantly leaning on to wipe my tears while he assured, "I will unite you with your family soon but for now, you have to live with me,"
His assurance was fake but so was the family I was claiming to see.
"But why do you want to keep me here, the King of Drakkons? I'm just a mere mortal," I enquired. Though the way he was looking at me, I wouldn't have to ask the question out loud. It was more or less self-evident but still, I wanted to make sure that he knew nothing about who I really was.
At this, he gently ran his hand through my silky hair while the intensity in his eyes grew.
"I have never seen someone like you," He breathed, "I'd like two have you,"
My wolf wasn't very happy to hear his words and I was almost going to growl out loud at him but I stopped myself because I was in a very dangerous situation.
"What do you mean by that?" I inquired, narrowing my eyes at him.
"Why? Isn't it understandable? I want to make you mine," He growled, his eyes blazing with possessiveness. For a moment, I could almost see Ezekiel in him but then I shook my head.
Ezekiel was way different than him or any other man out there. He was dangerous and it could be felt in his presence easily. I too felt it even though I was his mate.
On the other hand, when it came to the king of Drakkons, I wasn't that intimidated by him because I'd already dealt with the king of chauvinists. I can deal with anyone now.
In repose, I crossed my arms on my chest and further narrowed my eyes at him in a challenge.
"It's not so easy to get me like that," I told him and if anything, this fuelled the determination. In his eyes before they raked all over me, taking in every inch of me as if he already owned me.
"Is it?" He challenged.
I didn't let my own mate 'have me'. How did he think that he could have me on command so easily? Of course, he didn't know about this yet but you get my point.
"Oh, you have no idea," I told him with a suggestive smile and that was all it took to make his whole body tense. He clutched his jaw as he stared at me with a burning intensity.
"You'll be mine soon either way," he growled.
"How? Do you force yourself on women to 'have' them?" I questioned, tilting my head aside and giving him a mocking smile. The fire that burned in his eyes after this was enough to burn his whole camp but he didn't know that I have been kissed by the sun before.
"I don't force women," He told me with clenched teeth. I'd definitely hurt his ego slightly, "You can ask my wife," He nodded to the other woman sitting inside the tent. To be honest, I'd forgotten for a while that she was even there. She'd been sitting there quietly all this time.
I glanced at his wife once. She was really beautiful and the way she smiled at me, I instantly knew that she must be kind as well. If he already had a woman with him then why did he need me?
It was almost like an insult to me at this point. Every man who wanted me till now already had other women in reserve for them. I suppressed my anger and turned towards him to ask, "If you already have such a beautiful wife, why would you need me?"
"Because you're different..." He trailed off oddly as his eyes focused on me more heatedly. I was seething and if I had my sword with me then he'd have been headless by now. He was lucky at the moment.
"You already have a wife. I cannot be with you," I gritted.
"She doesn't mind,"
"But I mind," I gritted back at him, holding his gaze and adding, "Besides, I have someone waiting for me back home. I'm not sure he'd be happy to learn you want me,"
This was another blow to his ego and I could see its effect clearly in his eyes. He was seething but he didn't project it on me.
Instead, he told me calmly, "I'm the King of Drakkons. I get whatever I want and I want you and nothing is going to stop me from getting you,"
I couldn't help but giggle at this. He was really deep into this without knowing much about me. Even though I wasn't happy with this but I had to leverage this to get out of here.
So I decided to play with him.
"Are you sure about that, Your Highness?" I asked, suggestively.
"I'm," He replied. He was blinded by his ego and oh, what better opportunity could I get to play with him and get what I want?
More or less, he had some of Ezekiel's qualities and I'd never forgotten what Lyra had told me about men like him.
'They're meant to be used, not loved.'
It was time to do just that.
"You know what? I am ready to be yours if you do one thing for me," I suggested with a playful smile that made his eyes darker with lust.
"What is that?" He deamnded.
"Make me your queen,"
