Chapter 2

My vision was shrouded in a black yet it also seemed to be blindingly bright as a buzzing rang loudly pin my ears. My body refused to move under my command.

Is this what it's like to die? To be conscious but completely out of control. I could feel panic slowly being to rise from within me. It was then that I felt something warm touch my cheek and caress it soothingly. Calm washed over my as the fear and panic faded off like a distant memory.

"It's alright. Your safe now." A handsome voice echoed in my ears. Who was that? Am I truly dead?Because there is no voice in the earth that could sound that velvety and melodic.

"Open your eyes." The voice said softly, it was clearly the voice of a man. But who every it was had to be an angel.

" Please, open your eyes." The voice pleaded making me want to comfort them. I began to try and open my eyes. I silently begged for them to open as I forced all of my strength to my eyes.

" That's it keep trying. I know you can do it." The voice edged me on and gave me new found energy to flutter my eyes open to a bright light. I blinked several times as my hearing tuned in. A steady beeping sounded and my eyes wondered around the blurry room. I could make out the outline of a figure sitting to my left. I let out a pained groan I tried to focus on the man next to me. Apart from his outline, I could only see his eyes clearly. They were a bright violet colour that had specks of blue hidden within them.

" Hey." The man spoke as I blinked several times and finally gain back my vision. The man that was sitting next to me was none other than my mate. He had a large smile plastered onto his lips as his hand continued to caress my cheek.

" Hi." I managed to say.

" How are you feeling?" My mate asked me as I tried to sit up, but a pain in my abdomen stop me. I hissed with tears in my eyes as my mate sprung up off his seat and pushed me gently back down.

" Easy there. You were badly wounded and we just managed to keep you alive. But it has only been a week, so you are still healing." He spoke to me as I watched him closely. His strong jawline and high cheekbones held black stubble that was over a week old. He looked tired but kept a smile on his face.

" Rouges. " I chocked out as my mate shushed me and went back to caressing my cheek.

" They would not dare come into my territory. The only one that are, are my pack members and lone wolves... Like you." He spoke with so much affection it made my heart tingle.

" Where am I?" I asked quietly as it still hurt to use my voice.

" You are in The Thorn Blood territory. I am Alpha Valentino Farrini. And you, are my mate. Does she have a name?" He asked softly as I tried to get over the fact that my mate was not only an Alpha, but alpha to the strongest and largest pack.

" Echo. I have been a lone wolf my whole life." I whispered still entranced by his eyes that were shifting from both blue to violet and back.

" Your eyes.." I whispered as he just chuckled.

"Interesting name, Echo." He smiled down to me with a look in his eyes that I could not understand.

" My eyes are blue, my wolf's are violet. They flash when he is trying to take over and he can't wait to meet you." Valentino spoke with a deep chuckle.

" I see..." I spoke as the door opened and a doctor walked in. He was short and tiny. The complete opposite of Valentino. He wore a white coat over his doctor scrubs and held a clip board in his hands.

" Ah I see you're up. That's a good sign. Now I just need to complete a few checks and then as long as you stay in bed rest for the next week you can be discharged." He said looking towards Valentino as if to ask his permission to go anywhere near me. Which just as well, I have heard about mates being protective of each other, but as an Alpha he will be far more protective over his mate. The reason being is an Alpha's mate is a very important person to the pack as well as an Alpha. Because if a Luna dies not only will the Alpha slowly die and the pack will break away with no leader. Valentino nodded to the doctor who them proceeded to carry out a few different tests. I was now laying on my side facing Valentino as the Doctor checked some wounds on my back that I did not even realise existed until he mentioned them.

"Valentino?" I began as he grabbed my hand and brushed his fingers over my knuckles in a soothing way.

" Call me Val." He smiled and he placed his other hand just above my cheek and over my ear

" Val, What happens now? I am a lone wolf with no previous pack. I don't have a clue about packs How am I meant to run one?" I asked him with a worried tone in my voice.

"I can help with that. And I'm sure the pack will be more than happy to help out their Luna. " Val assured her with a handsome smile.

" I think I can deal with that." I returned his smile.

" Okay Luna, you are free to go. But remember you must stay in bed for another week. The only time you are to get it is to go for a shower or to use the toilet." The doctor said the information more to Val then myself.

"Thank you." Val said to the doctor who smiled in his direction.

"My pleasure Alpha." He said before turning around and walking out the room.

"Can you help me stand?" I asked Val instantly nodded as he stood from his chair and reached out his hands for me to grab. Once I placed my tiny hands into his large ones, he gently began to pull me so my muscles did not have to do most of the work. After a few moments and several curses under my breath. I was finally standing up while practically leaning onto Val for support.

" You alright?" He asked and I just nodded to him, too afraid to trust my own voice from the amount of pain I was currently experiencing.

" Come on, lets get you home." Val spoke gently as he began to lead me out the hospital. The glass sliding doors soon came into view as they slipped to the side when they sensed us walking towards them. The fresh air blew inwards as the soft autumn smell filled the air. Finally we stepped out of the hospital and the natural light surround me.
