THE LOW, A JACK HARLOW FIC.
CHAPTER TWENTY THREE.
BEGIN.
The last thing Jack expected to see was Solána, Montero, Drew and Urban in the stands of the court room. As much as he wanted to be tense about the fact that they all now knew what he had been through he couldn't help but be touched. He could almost cry in the moment but he stayed straight face the whole time.
The moment he knew he was going to break was when Claire slipped up on one of her lies, "That's when he hit me with the glass bowl—" she stopped realizing the lie that fell from her lips. It took everything in Jack not to smile as the judge shot her a dismayed look. He quickly looked over at Jack who kept his composure.
"I thought the alleged item was a glass cup not a bowl?" The judge shot Jacks lawyer a look and after two hours of debate it was done. Jack was declared "Not Guilty" as they proceeded Claire's punishment for alleged defamation and lying under oath.
Jack hadn't noticed until the tear literally fell from his eye. Suddenly every twisted thing Claire had ever said to him crashed in front of him. He looked back at Solána as his eyes went blurry. All the things she said to him rushed to his head finally. He was so happy to know her despite everything between them.
"You talk to every woman as this party. All you have to do is get them a Coke and you're in their pants right?" (3)
"When did you write that song?", "After I met you." (5)
"No I... I don't hate you Jack." (7)
"I don't want you to have to take care of me Jack." (9)
"I love you.. I love you... I love you." (14)
"Yeah usually my boyfriend would kiss me by now-" (15)
"I don't date cheaters Jack." (16)
"You have one month. Don't contact me. Don't speak to me. Don't talk to me through anybody. That's it." (20)
The most important things Solána have ever said to him rushed forawrd as he stared at her. She was busy scowling at Claire probably counting how long she'd be in jail for beating her ass. He saw her stand up and made sure that she wasn't going to do anything—in front of a judge.
Seeing Jack suddenly shifted her focus as her face grew more relaxed but something in her eyes was nervous. Jack wondered why until he realized it was because of him. Before he could say anything to her he heard shouting from the other side of the room.
"Just let me hold it... Like let me bang it one time!" Montero negotiated with the judge who looked like he wanted to personally send him to jail. It wasn't long before he realized what Montero was talking about, the gavel that is usually used on judge tv shows.
Drew and Urban sat to the side before Drew took a long exhale, "Montero you need to stop, the gavel is really only for people who are worthy." Drew said before winking at the judge with a smirk.
"Man I can't believe he kicked us out." Montero groaned as we sat outside of the building. We all sent him a "Are you fr...?" Look as he pretended to be completely innocent.
"I can't believe he let Urban bang the gavel." Drew said under his breath refusing to look urban in the eye as jack and Solána laughed out loud. Jack didn't get a chance to look at her before Urban spoke.
"It's not my fault we have stuff in common." He muttered under his breathe and as soon as he said that Solána, Drew and Montero looked at each other at the same time. Jack threw out a laugh before urban thought about what he said, "we both fish! What the hell y'all thinking?" He said even though he already knew.
"Nah but we should go celebrate!" Solána called out still trying to avoid eye contact with Jack. He wasn't having it. He turned his body towards her so that it seemed like it was just them on the side of the street. After a while Jack looked over his shoulder and they were literally alone. Jack licked his lips as she stared as his feet.
"So what's up Solána?" Jack would be lying if he didn't think that her eyes were kind of glossed over as she finally looked him in the eye. She took a deep breath trying to figure out what to say. She rubbed her shakey hands together nervously before taking a breath in.
"Jack... I'm so sorry. I should've believed you. I was so lost in my own stuff that I was being selfish and I didn't trust that you loved me. Im sorry that you had to go through—" Solána stopped as a tear rolled down her face as Jack felt entirely relived. He felt like a weight had been lifted off his shoulder and pressed back down at the sight of seeing her cry.
But she admitted to not trusting that he loved her in the moment. She must've known what he was thinking about because her hand pressed against him arm to reassure him. He swore he wasn't going to cry about the case but now getting what he finally wanted with Solána felt like an entirely different prospect. He laughed out loud as she threw an eyebrow up in confusion.
He moved his hands from his side as he felt the smooth skin under Solána ear and the line of her jaw, "I wish you would've trusted me before." At the admission another tear fell from her eyes as he realized that he honestly felt that way about the situation.
"Jack I—" Solána was working up the courage to get him to stop talking before he pressed a kiss to her lips. It was comfortable and familiar. He could feel his heart race as he pressed harder against her. He wasn't going to ruin the moment with another mistake or argument. Kissing her felt right and that's all he needed to know.
"It's been Two months, three days and 6 hours since I last kissed you." Jack mumbled the fact between kisses as Solána grew more relaxed and impassioned at the same time, working her hands through his hair, "I love you." He kissed her again as she laughed.
"I've missed you so much Jackie.. I swear I.." Solána trailed off and looked him in the eye and made sure he knew she was telling the truth. "Everything I did. and said and thought of had to do with you. That's why when I forced myself to belive the lie about you.. it broke me so much more." Jack would be lying if he said he didn't feel the exact same way. She was going to be the death of him.
"It's fine baby. It's behind us..." he kissed her again as she wrapped her arms around him, "You're mine now, stop crying." Solána grew quiet as she sniffled. Jack started to doubt himself.
"You are right?" Jack said over her head before kissing her hair and letting out the laugh he was holding in. She laughed back at him before nodding quickly.
"Yes." He had a feeling she needed to say more so he let go of her, "I don't know how I'm gonna handle another break up tho the last one kinda ruined me—" Jack laughed suspecting that he was talking about them as someone stood around them.
Before he could talk to the person they looked at Solána, with some unbelievable look. And then he looked like he was thinking something about her, something that should get him punched.
Jack calmed down because by the looks up it Solána had the exact same idea. "Wow Lana... you look... great." He looked her up and down. Jack frowned at his nickname for her before he moved forawrd. Jack held his hands in fists inside his pockets before he did anything he'd regret.
"Jack this is Trey... he's my ex." She bit out bitterly as the guy finally looked at Jack. He could read his mind as his jaw clenched together and he held a hand out. He didn't deserve to be mad. The shit Jack heard about this asshole almost made him walk away. Jack shook it to keep his cool, gripping onto his hand before letting it go.
"I'm Jack. Her boyfriend."
