Chapter 39: The Six Champions

Y/N POV

As we made our way to the Champions Platform, Dumbledore glared at us with a look Snape would often give. Ironically, Snape had a bit of worry behind his black eyes. Grandma looked extremely concerned as she watched us. She patted Harry on the shoulder and she had hugged us both. The Professors had lead us down to the others.

As Fleur looked at us, she smiled at us with a look of concern but happy to see us. Cedric was thinking, 'How the hell did they get in?' and Krum stood there unmoving. That stupid egghead was in my sight, I'm not letting him come a single inch to Hermione at all.

"Extraordinary!" Bagman said as he came in. "Absolutely extraordinary! Gentlemen . . . lady," he said as he mentioned the other three. "May I introduce - incredible though it may seem - the fourth, fifth and sixth Triwizard champion?"

Fleur looked concerned. "How?" She said. "Is zis a joke?"

"Joke?" Bagman said to us. "No, no! Their names came out of the Goblet of Fire!"

Krum looked at us. He must have recognized me with Hermione as his eyes widened at me. I continued to coldly glare at him. Cedric was still confused, and Fleur said, "They cannot compete! They are too young! Zair 'as been a mistake!"

Is Fleur sticking up for us?

"Well . . . it is amazing," Bagman said. "But, as you know, the age restriction was only imposed this year as an extra safety measure. And as their names come out of the goblet . . . I mean, I don't think there can be any ducking out at this stage. . . . It's down to the rules, you're obliged . . . they will just have to do the best they-"

Before he could finish, the Professors, Karkaroff, Maxime and Mr. Crouch came in. "Madame Maxime!" Fleur said. "Zey are saying zat zhey is to compete to!"

"What is ze meaning of zis, Dumbly-dorr?" Maxime asked Dumbledore.

"I'd rather like to know that myself, Dumbledore," Karkaroff said through his yellow teeth. "Four Hogwarts champions? I don't remember anyone telling me the host school is allowed four champions - or have I not read the rules carefully enough?"

"It is not in the rules, Igor," Dumbledore said. "But let us ask. Harry, Y/N, Lana, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?"

(A/N: I'm sorry, I just couldn't resist.)

He asked calmly, but the intensity made it so that he was bellowing into our ears.

"No, sir." We all said.

"Did you ask one of the older students to do it for you?"

"No, sir."

"You're absolutely sure?"

"Yes, sir."

"Well, of course they are lying!" Maxime said as she pushed a lamp out of the way.

"The hell they are!" Mad-Eye said. "The Goblet of Fire is an exceptionally powerful magical object, only an exceptionally powerful conjurer could have hoodwinked it. Magic way beyond the talents of a fourth year."

"You seem to have given this a fair bit of thought, Mad-Eye," Karkaroff said sternly

"It was once my job to think as dark wizards do, Karkaroff," Mad-Eye said. "Perhaps you remember?"

Okay, Mad-Eye's -well, mad, but what is he talking about?

"That doesn't help, Alastor," Dumbledore said. "I leave this to you, Barty."

"The rules are absolute," Crouch said. "The Goblet of Fire constitutes a binding magical contract. Mr. Potter, Mr. Lovegood and Miss Lovegood have no choice, they, as of tonight, are Triwards Champions."

Grandma looked concerned for us again as she said, "No, absolutely not! This can't go on, Albus! First the dark mark, now this!?"

"What do you suggest, Minerva?" Dumbledore asked her.

She looked awestruck. "Put an end to it, of course! Don't let Potter or my grandchildren compete! This isn't safe for them!"

"You heard Barty, the rules are clear."

"Well, the devil with Barty and his rules!" Grandma nearly shouted. "And since when did you accommodate them..."

"Master," Snape said. "I too find it difficult to believe this mere coincidence, if we are to truly discover the meaning of these events, perhaps we should for the time being, let them unfold."

Grandma looked at Snape with a glare in her eyes. "Do nothing?!?" She shouted. "Offer them up as bait!?! Potter and the Lovegoods are children, not pieces of meat!"

"I agree with Severus," Dumbledore said. "Minevra, I understand you want Y/N and Lana to be safe, I do too, but they have no choice. Alastor, keep an eye on them, will you?"

"I can do that." Mad-Eye grunted.

Cedric and Fleur looked at us with a little bit of worry, since we were younger by a few years. Krum still stood there, saying nothing before leaving alone. Harry and Cedric left together and Fleur looked back and apparently waited for us. Before we joined her, Grandma held us back to talk.

"I'm so sorry you both have to go through this," She said with sorrow in her eyes.

"We're gonna be okay, Grandma," Lana said.

"Yeah, Lana and I have Hermione to help us," I said. "Aren't Newt and Tina around?"

"They are," Grandma said. "They got here a couple of days ago. They will help you too, I'm sure of it. Relay anything they tell you to Harry, is that understood?"

"Yes, Grandma," We b0th said.

"Good, now take care of yourselves," She said with a small smile. "I will write to your mother. I care about you both."

She let us go as Fleur gestured for us to come with her. As we walked to the Beauxbatons student, she smiled a little and hugged us. "It zis so good to see you both again," She said. "But how did you put your name into ze Goblet?"

"We didn't," I said. "Lana and I didn't even come close to the Goblet, you have to believe us."

"I do," Fleur said. "You both seem like kind people and I trust you since you found my sister. I do wish you both good luck, despite us competing against each other."

She waved goodbye to us as we found a familiar face outside of a room that shouldn't really be there. The figure had a wand in his mouth as he held a Bowtruckle in his hand as he wore a blue overcoat and his iconic Hufflepuff scarf.

"Newt!" We said to him, which got his attention. He looked to us, put his wand away, placed the Bowtruckle in his pocket and waved to us. As we ran to him, he hugged us both. "I heard what happened." Newt said. "You both and Harry Potter are Triwizard Champions?"

"Yeah, we didn't put our names in though," Lana said. "What is this place?"

"This is the Room of Requirement," Newt said. "Tina's inside, come on."

We walked through the doors to find Tina with bookshelves filled with books on defensive spells and it looked a lot like the inside of Newt's case.

"Y/N, Lana!" Tina said as she greeted us. "It is so good to see you both."

"Hi, Tina," Lana said. "Good to see you both too."

"How did you become the Champions?" She asked.

"We don't know," I said. "Did they have these in America?"

"Nope, they had nothing like this in Ilvermorny."

"Why is this room called the Room of Requirement?" I asked.

"Oh, that's because whatever you need at the moment," Newt said. "This room will provide it. And we are going to use it for the tournament."

Harry POV

As I walked back to the Gryffindor Common Room, I expected Y/N to be back already, but I found Hermione on the couch, looking extremely worried. As she looked up, she walked up to me and hugged me. "I know you didn't put your name in the Goblet," She said to me. "Where's Y/N and Lana?"

"At least you believe me," I said. "But I thought Y/N got back here already?"

"No, he hasn't," She said. "I don't know where he is, I'm worried about him, all of you and so is Snuffles."

From the corner of my eye, I saw Snuffles snuggled up on Hermione's lap, shaking a lot. He must really care about Y/N.

"I'm gonna check on Ron," I said. "I didn't talk to him about this."

"Good luck with that," She said. "He's in a right state."

I walked into my dorm that I shared with Ron and saw him on his bed with a look of anger on his face. "How did you lot do it?" He growled. I stayed silent, I didn't know what to tell him.

"Never mind. Doesn't matter," He said. "You all could have let your best friend know though."

"Let you know what?" I asked.

"You know bloody well what."

"I didn't ask for this to happen, Ron," I said back. "Neither did Y/N or Lana, okay? You're being stupid."

"Yeah, that's me," Ron said. "Ron Weasley, Harry Potter's stupid friend."

"Y/N, Lana and I didn't put our names in that cup!" I shouted. "We don't WANT eternal glory. Look, I don't know what happened tonight and I don't know why, it just did, okay?"

"Piss off." He growled.

"With pleasure," I retorted. "Maybe Luna's right. You do have more Wrackspurts in your head."

I left the dorm to go back to the couches, where Hermione was sitting, waiting for Y/N. Moments later, He came through the doors, looking a little better than when we were called. As Hermione laid her eyes on him, Snuffles ran up to her shoulders as she ran to him and embraced him in a hug.

"Are you okay?" She asked him quickly. "What did they say? Do you three have to compete?"

"I'm alright, 'Mione, we weren't hurt," Y/N said. "And we have no choice but to compete. Otherwise..."

He stopped for a moment as Hermione yelped in fear and held him closer to her.

"No, you can't!" She said to him. "You can't do that if your life is on the line!

"We don't have much of a choice." He said "We do it or we die."

"Then promise me!" Hermione yelled as she hit his chest lightly. "Promise me you're going to be safe and you won't get yourself killed. Same goes for you too, Harry! And Lana! I can't imagine a world without any of you. You promise me, Y/N Lovegood. Promise me..." She teared and put her head on his chest as Y/N hugged her.

"I promise you, Hermione," Y/N said. "I promise I won't get myself killed. I'll come back to you." Hermione still was in tears and buried her head again while Y/N rubbed her back and kissed her forehead.

"You two gonna be okay?" I asked them, as they looked back at me. They must have forgotten I was there, even though Hermione addressed me a while ago.

"Yeah, I'm gonna be okay," Hermione said. "But I'm gonna be with you." She turned to him. "I'm going to help you three."

"Well, we have time until the first task," I said. "It's around November, so 2 months."

"Then it's a good thing that Newt and Tina are here too," Y/N said. "They're going to train me and Lana."

I was confused. "Who do you mean, 'Newt and Tina?'

He smiled. "Newt and Tina Scamander, of course."

Lana POV

The day of the wand weighing arrived and Y/N let me know that Ron doesn't believe that we didn't put our names in the Goblet, which kind of hurt me a little. But when it came for breakfast, the moment I stepped out of my dorm, every Ravenclaw looked at me with either a smile or a good talk.

The Ravenclaws are known for intelligence and they believed me when I told them I didn't put my name in, unfortunately, other houses and certain people didn't believe me. I joined up with Hermione, who didn't come down with Y/N or Harry as she let them sleep since they were having a rough night with Ron.

We came back to the Common Room, where Y/N and Harry were being treated like heroes.

"I mean, we technically are, yes?" Y/N said. "I killed a Basilisk in second year, scared the hell out of the Malfoys..."

"I survived the Killing Curse," Harry added. "And I've been famous for that apparent reason."

"And the ginger idiot's hating it right now," Y/N mentioned.

"Harry, you should write to Sirius," Hermione said. "You've got to tell him about this! He would have gotten to know, I brought some parchment and a quill out with me -"

"Hermione, won't that be too much?" Harry asked. "His godson and his niece and nephew being Triwizard Champions--"

"Uncle Sirius would want you to tell him," I said. "He has a right to know, he's your legal guardian."

"Okay, okay, I'll write to him," Harry said begrudgingly. "Whose owl am I going to use? He told me not to use Hedwig again."

"We can't ask Ron, he's still in the right state."

"Use one of the school owls." I suggested.

As I made the suggestion, we made our way to the Owlery, who Harry wrote his letter and proofread it with us.

Dear Sirius,

You told me to keep you posted on what's happening at Hogwarts, so here goes - I don't know if you've heard, but the Triwizard Tournament Is happening this year and on Saturday night, Lana, Y/N and I got picked as champions. I don't know who put our names in the Goblet of Fire, because I didn't. The other Hogwarts champion is Cedric Diggory, from Hufflepuff.

Hope you're okay, and Buckbeak - Harry

P.S. Y/N and Lana say Hi to Beaky.

As we sent it out, we all left the Owlery, only to be stopped by an unfamiliar girl. She was older than us, and kinda made Harry and Y/N blush at how close she was to them.

"You're Harry Potter? And Y/N Lovegood?" She asked. "I'm Clara Cartier from Beauxbatons, it's nice to meet you both." She shook their hands along with mine and Hermione's. But what Hermione and I didn't expect was her getting extremely close to Y/N and whispering, "You're kinda cute, let's meet up sometime, sweetie,".

"Excuse me?!" Hermione said. "I'm his girlfriend!"

Y/N looked even more confused than before as he looked at me and said in my head, 'What's going on now?'

'Just go with it!' I said. 'Besides, she's calling herself your girlfriend, so that's a plus!'

"I can do better than her," Clara smirked while tugging on Y/N's robes and not looking at Hermione, as she was royally pissed off.

"Um, yeah, sorry," Y/N said. "I think all of us, including my girlfriend, are just gonna go... Goodbye." And Y/N and Hermione walked off quickly as we followed and not looking back.

"Sorry about that," Hermione said to Y/N. "Really sorry if I made you nervous --"

"What are you talking about?" Y/N asked. "You saved my butt back there. Otherwise that Clara girl would be all over me. But really, are you jealous?"

"Yes." She said quickly as my brother blushed.

After lunch, we made our way to Snape's dungeon, where we found Cedric and some Hufflepuffs. As he made eye contact, his look worried as he mouthed the word, "Sorry". But what for?

Well, Malfoy's yearly bullshit.

We thought they were S.P.E.W badges but those badges had a different message.

SUPPORT CEDRIC DIGGORY --- THE REAL HOGWARTS CHAMPION!

"Like them?" Malfoy sneered. "And this isn't all they do -- look!" As he and the others pressed the badge, the message changed to say,

POTTER AND LOVEGOODS STINK!

"Oh yeah," Y/N said. "Real mature of you, Mouth-boy."

Ron was there, but he didn't bother to help us. I shot an angry glare at him and suddenly, his expression softened. Strange.

"Want one, Granger?" Malfoy said as he held out a badge to her. "I've got loads. But don't touch my hand, now. I've just washed it, you see; don't want a Mudblood slimming it up."

"Really?" I said. "Is that what you think? Well, I think it's the other way around. You're the one that's dirty. Hermione's much more pure than you."

What happened next really managed to piss Y/N off.

"Shut up, you blood traitor bitch." Malfoy sneered, just like how he did with Hermione two years ago.

Y/N pulled out his wand and aimed it at Malfoy as the crowd spread away from him. "What did you say about my sister, Malfoy?" He sneered coldly.

"You heard me, Lovegood!" Malfoy yelled. "I called your sister a bitch! And your cousin's a loony, a stupid, little bi-"

Before Malfoy could continue, Y/N pushed him to the wall and pinned him there. "Calling Hermione that really pisses me off, you know that, but you keep talking," Y/N said. "But insulting my family is a step too far."

Malfoy then headbutted Y/N, gave him a punch in the face, and drew his wand, to which Harry did the same.

"Furnunculus!"

"Densaugeo!"

Harry's spell did Goyle and Malfoy's spell hit Hermione in the face, causing her teeth to grow abnormally. Y/N's nose was bleeding as he healed it with Episky, and he ran to Hermione as he shielded her from everyone else. I came to them to find Hermione with beaver-like teeth as she was panicking and Y/N was comforting her.

"And what is all this noise about?" Snape said as he entered the hall.

"Potter attacked me, sir --"
"We attacked each other at the same time!"

"And he hit Goyle -- Look!" Snape looked at Goyle, who now had bumps on his ugly face.

"Hospital wing, Goyle," Snape said.

"What about 'Mione, Snape!" Y/N said. "Malfoy got her! And he called my sister something he wouldn't tell his mother."

He looked back at Hermione, who allowed Snape to look.

"I see no difference." Snape sneered coldly as Hermione whimpered.

"Son of a bitch, of course you would favor your own students." Y/N and I said at the same time. Harry and Ron even were yelling at Snape at the same time.

"Let's see," He sneered, "Fifty points from Gryffindor and a detention for Potter, Weasley. Now get inside, or it'll be a week's worth of detentions."

"Whatever, I'm taking 'Mione to the hospital wing," Y/N said. Surprisingly, Snape gave no objection.

"I'm coming too." I said.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Moments later, we arrived at the hospital wing. Y/N carried her bridal style as it was the only way to not show her teeth to anyone. As we entered, he put Hermione on the bed and held her hand.

"Can you talk?" He asked her.

"Little bit," she managed to say.

"Does it hurt?"

"Yeah. I must look hideous."

"You don't," He said. "You're beautiful, just the way you are. Teeth isn't going to change that."

Hermione hugged him as Madam Pomfrey prepared to shrink her teeth, and she managed to do it successfully. Hermione's teeth were back to normal as she was shown a mirror.

"See?" Y/N said. "Back to normal, and you still look just as beautiful."

He also kissed Hermione's temple just for good measure as she giggled.

"Thank you both," She said. "Really, I don't know what I'd without you both."

"Or course, 'Mione." I said. "You're my best friend, we'll always protect you.

"Hello?" Someone said to us, apparently being Colin Creevy with Harry. "Both of the Lovegoods have to come with me. For the champions."

We turned back to her. "We'll be back soon, I promise, Hermione." Y/N said.

"Oh, Okay," Hermione said sadly.

"I'm keeping that promise I made you, remember?" Y/N said to her. "I know Madam Pomfrey will most likely keep you here, so I'll be here."

"I'd like that, sweetheart." She said with a small smile.

"You know what?" He said. "I'll let you call me that if I can do the same."

"Of course you can," She said. "But be careful."

"I will," He said as he kissed her cheek again. "I'll make sure of it, sweetheart."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"There they are!" Bagman said. "Champions number 4, 5 and 6! Nothing to worry about, just the wand weighing ceremony.

"We have to check that your wands are fully functional, no problems, you know, as they're your most important tools in the tasks ahead," said Bagman. "The expert's upstairs now with Dumbledore. And then there's going to be a little photo shoot. This is Rita Skeeter. She's doing a small piece on the tournament for the Daily Prophet. . . ."

"Maybe not that small, Ludo," Rita Skeeter said. "I wonder if I could have a little word with Harry before we start? The youngest champion, you know... to add a bit of color?"

"Certainly! That is - if Harry has no objection?"

"Lovely," Skeeter said as she took Harry and stuffed him in a broom closet. Y/N and I made conversation with Cedric and Fleur while we waited on Harry with Rita Skeeter.

After a while, Harry was let out and Rita came out and asked, "May I speak with the Lovegoods? The 5th and 6th champions?"

"If they don't have any object-" Bagman said before Rita interrupted him

"Excellent!" She said as she grabbed us and put us in the same broom closet.

She opened her bag, pulled out a quill and a roll of parchment and asked, "Do you mind if I use a Quick-Quotes Quill? It will write as I talk to you both."

As we were about to say anything, She grinned and began to use it.

"What made you both want to enter the Triwizard Tournament?" She asked.

"We didn't enter," Y/N said. "Both of us didn't want to enter."

I spotted the Quill moving on it's own and writing

Two twins, unknowing of the tragic fate of their father, sit across me, as similar as Harry Potter himself --

"Ignore the quill, Lana," Rita said to me, but I ignored her. "Now, why did you enter?"

"We didn't!" I said. "We didn't put our names in the Goblet of Fire!"

"No need to be scared about it," Rita smiled with a weird one at that. "Our readers love rebels, even a pair would do. How do you feel about the tasks ahead? Nervous? Excited?"

"Um, nervous," Y/N said. "I think that would be for both of us."

"Champions have died in the past, haven't they?" She asked. "Have you thought about that?

"It's going to be safer this year," I said. "They are making sure of it."

"Fine then," Rita said. "How about the juicy details behind each champion? I have heard that Y/N here is quite the heartthrob for most teen girls around here. Tell me -- Do you have a girlfriend, Y/N?"

"I don't," Y/N said. "I didn't even know most of the girls fancy me."

"So you do have one?"

"I just said I don't."

"What's her name?"

"Why do you want to know?"

"Reader's love a good love story."

And just like that, Dumbledore opened the doors as Rita looked back at him. "Dumbledore!" Rita said. "How are you? I hope you saw my piece over the summer about the International Confederation of Wizards' Conference?"

"Enchanting nasty," Dumbledore recalled with a bit of sarcasm. "I particularly enjoyed your description of me as an obsolete dingbat. I would appreciate it if you would let the twins out of the closet. Wand-weighing is about to begin."

Rita let us out and we were both very glad to get away from her. Karkaroff, Maxime, Mr. Crouch and Mr. Bagman stood in front and watched the six of us while Rita sat down and continued to write.
"May I introduce Mr. Ollivander?" Dumbledore said as the man who gave us our wands walked in with a smile. "He will be checking your wands to ensure that they are in good condition before the tournament."

"Mademoiselle Delacour, could we have you first, please?" Ollivander said to Fleur as she handed him her wand. He examined it and twirled the wand in his hands "Yes... nine and a half inches... inflexible... rosewood and containing... dear me...."

"And a 'air from ze head of a veela," Fleur added. "One of my grandmother's."

"So she's a veela," Y/N said. "Explains why the boys were staring at her."

"Yes, yes," Ollivander said. "I've never used veela hair myself, of course. I find it makes for rather temperamental wands... however, to each his own, and if this suits you..."

He ran his hands across the tip of the wand and said, "Orchideous!" as a bouquet of flowers burst from the tip.

"That spell must be useful for you," I teased and nudged his arm.

"Shut up, sis," He chuckled. "You're not wrong, though."

"Very well, very well," Ollivander said. "It's in fine working order." He handed Fleur's wand back to her as he had asked for Cedric's.

"Ah, now, this is one of mine, isn't it?" Ollivander said with glee as Cedric nodded. "Yes, I remember it well, Containing a single hair of a particularly fine male unicorn... may have been seventeen hands; nearly gored me with his horn after I plucked his tail. Twelve and a quarter inches . . . ash . . . pleasantly springy. It's in fine condition. . . . You treat it regularly?"

"Polished it last night." Cedric said with a grin.

Ollivander then sent a stream of silver smoke rings and gave it back to Cedric as he asked for, ugh, Krum. "Mr. Krum, if you please."

Krum got up from his slouch and thrust out his wand towards Ollivander.

"Hmm," Ollivander said. "This... is a Gregorovitch creation, unless I'm much mistaken? A fine wand-maker, though the styling is never quite what I . . . however . . ."

He turned Krum's wand and looked at it. "Yes... hornbeam and dragon heartstring? Rather thicker than one usually sees... quite rigid... ten and a quarter inches... Avis!"

The wand shot out a number of birds out of its end. "Good," Olllivander said as he handed Krum's wand back to him. "Which leaves Mr. Potter and the Lovegood twins." He walked toward us with a smile on his face. "Ahh yes, how well I remember."

He had asked for Harry's wand, which he let out a "Curious," and examined his wand the longest and made a fountain of wine sprout out of his wand before handing it back to Harry and came to us.

"Ahh, I remember both of yours well," Ollivander said as he took our wands. "Twin wands, if I recall correctly. Willow Wood... and dragon heartstring, 11 inches... and in fine condition!" He handed them back to us with a kind smile on his face.

"Thank you all," Dumbledore said from the judges table. "You may go back to your lessons now - or perhaps it would be quicker just to go down to dinner, as they are about to end -"

"Photos, Dumbledore, photos!" Bagman cried out. "All the judges and champions, what do you think, Rita?"

"Er- yes, let's do those first," Rita said whose eyes were still on Harry and Y/N. "And perhaps some individual shots."

The photos took longer than expected since Madame Maxime stood taller than everyone. After our individual photos, we left for dinner, where we got some food for Hermione since she was still in there. As we arrived, Hermione smiled with her teeth back to normal and hugged us. We told her about Rita, the wand-weighing ceremony and other things until Harry came in with a letter from Uncle Sirius.

Harry, Y/N, Lana --

I can't say everything I would like to in a letter, it's too risky in case the owl is intercepted - we need to talk face-to-face. Can you ensure that you are alone by the fire in Gryffindor Tower at one o'clock in the morning on the 22nd of November? I know better than anyone that you can look after yourself and while you're around Dumbledore and Moody I don't think anyone will be able to hurt you. However, someone seems to be having a good try. Entering you in that tournament would have been very risky, especially right under Dumbledore's nose. Be on the watch, Harry. I still want to hear about anything unusual. Let me know about the 22nd of November as quickly as you can.

Sirius

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Y/N POV

Weeks passed until the day before the first task arrived and Lana and I had learned so much from Newt and Tina in defensive spells. Harry did go with Hagrid since we were busy with them and told us the first task which was supposed to be dragons. Along with that, in every single moment we had when we're not in class, we have been in the library with Hermione reading up on everything.

Strangely enough, I keep seeing Krum pop up in the library nearly every time we're here. He always has his eye on Hermione. Is he stalking us, or more importantly, her?

That wasn't really the worst thing that happened. What was worse, was Rita's article, which was full of lies. All of it mostly talked about Harry, other champion's names were misspelled, Cedric wasn't even mentioned, and there was a small interview with us, but more about my love life. She altered everything about it, such as:

I suppose I get my strength from my parents. I know they'd be very proud of me, Y/N, and Lana since my mum is their godmother. If only they could see us now... Yes, sometimes at night I still cry about them, I'm not ashamed to admit it... I know nothing will hurt me during the tournament, because they're watching over me.

Along with Harry, his good friends, Y/N and Lana Lovegood had entered the tournament but have not revealed how they put their name in the Goblet of Fire. Y/N has at last found love at Hogwarts. According to a fellow Gryffindor, Colin Creevey, says that Y/N is rarely seen out of the company of one Hermione Granger, a stunningly pretty Muggle-born girl who, like Y/N, is one of the top students in the school.

When everyone got the article, the Slytherins took it upon themselves to mock us about it.

"Want a hanky, Potter?" Malfoy said to us one day. "In case you start crying in Transfiguration?"

"Stunningly pretty? Her?" Pansy Parkinson sneered. "What's she judging against -- a chipmunk?"

"At least she's prettier than you, Parkinson." I scowled at her. "And clearly smarter."

Ron still hasn't talked to us as he was still being a jealous ginger idiot and started to hang out with Dean and Seamus more and more often. But the best thing that could have happened did one day.

"Why so tense, Potter, Lovegoods?" Malfoy said from inside a tree, being the annoying dickhead he always is. "My father and I have a bet, you see. I don't think you're gonna last ten minutes in this tournament. He disagrees." He jumped down from the tree and looked back at us.

"He thinks you three won't last five!" He sneered as Harry walked to him angrily.

"I don't give a DAMN what you or your father thinks, Malfoy!" Harry yelled. "He's vile and cruel, and you're pathetic."

As Harry walked back to us, Malfoy tried to cast a spell at us.

Well, try was the keyword in that sentence.

"OH, NO YOU DON'T, SONNY!" Mad-Eye bellowed as he pointed his wand at Malfoy, turning him into a ferret. "That'll teach you to cast a spell when someone's back is turned."

(A/N: I love writing Moody's lines, it just brings out the madness lol.)

He hovered the ferret up and down as Grandma came running to us as he paid no heed to her. "Professor Moody! Professor Moody! What are you doing?" She asked frantically.

"Teaching." Mad-eye grunted.

"Is- is that a student?"

"Technically, it's a FERRET."

He took the ferret and then put it inside a Slytherin's trousers as they squirmed in agony. Moody then turned to us and winked before Grandma turned Malfoy back to normal. Malfoy turned around to find Moody staring at him with his arms crossed, watching him.

"My father will hear about this!" He said.

"IS THAT A THREAT!?" Mad-Eye bellowed once more as he ran after Draco, who ran in fear. "I COULD TELL YOU STORIES ABOUT YOUR FATHER THAT WOULD CURL EVEN YOUR GREASY HAIR, BOY!"

"Professor Moody!"

"IT DOESN'T END HERE, BOY!"

Grandma stood in front of Mad-Eye to stop him from doing anything else. "We never use transfiguration as a punishment," She said to him. "Surely Dumbledore told you that."

"He might have mentioned it." Mad-Eye said as he put his wand to his lips.

"Well, you will do well to remember it. Away!" She said to her other students as Mad-Eye stuck his tongue out before he pulled Harry away.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The day of the first task dreadfully arrived. We were given our own robes for the task with our names on the back which was quite cool...

IF DRAGONS WEREN'T TRYING TO KILL US!!!

Gah, the stress is going to my brain.

Harry's was black and red, invoking the Gryffinor theme, while Lana's was blue and bronze, as she was representing Ravenclaw. However, mine was both colors, red, blue and a touch of bronze. Harry kept pacing around and Lana and I were recalling everything Newt, Tina and Hermione had told us.

The other three champions were waiting around, just as nervous as us. As I stood next to the tent door, I heard a whisper from behind me.

Hermione POV

Snuffles and I were outside the tent where Y/N, Lana, Harry and the other champions were prepping for the first task. I thought I would come down to wish them luck.

"Psst!" I whispered. "Y/N? Is that you?"

"Yeah, 'Mione," Y/N said.

"How are you feeling?" I asked. "Are you okay? Nervous? The key is to concentrate. After that you just have to..."

"Battle a dragon," He said with an ounce of fear in his voice. "Yeah, and not die trying would be nice."

I didn't know what happened next, but I burst through the tent door and engulfed him in a tight hug. I was scared for him, I wanted him to come back unharmed. I didn't know if he was even coming back. That's not a thought I want to have ever in my life. I just wanted to tell him right then and there I loved him. He wrapped his arms around me and held me close to him.

Just as he did, a flash from the corner came as we turned in confusion to find Rita Skeeter walking in.

"Young Love!" "Ohh how..." She paused for a moment to think before she came up with a word for her quill. "Stirring. If everything goes unfortunately today, you two might take the front page!"

"You have no business here." Krum said to her. "This tent is for champions and friends."

"No matter," Rita said. "We've got what we wanted."

(A/N: To Rita: You-have-No-Friends.)

"Good day, champions," Dumbledore said as he entered. "Gather round please. Now you've wondered and at last, the moment has arrived. The moment only six of you can fully appreciate."

He looked at me strangely and kindly asked, "Miss Granger, what are you doing here?"

"I was just wishing Harry and the twins good luck," I said to him. "Do you mind if I stay a little?"

"I suppose you can," Dumbledore said. "Barty, the bag."

"Champions, in a circle around me." Mr. Crouch said as I stared angrily at him. I still didn't like what he did to Winky. "Miss Delacour, over here. Mr. Krum, and Potter over here. Lovegoods and Diggory, next to Potter. Miss Delacour, if you will." Before Y/N and Lana went, I kissed his cheek and hugged Lana.

Mr. Crouch held out a bag to Fleur, where she dipped her hand in and pulled out a model of a green dragon. "The Welsh Green," Crouch said. "Mr. Krum..." He put the bag towards him, where Krum pulled out another dragon.

"The Chinese Fireball!" He did the same for Cedric and Harry, where Cedric pulled out another dragon and Harry pulled a red dragon.

"The Swedish Short-Snout..." Crouch said. "And the Hungarian Horntail."

As Y/N and Lana put their hands in, someone rushed into the tent, revealing themselves to be... Charlie Weasley?

"We have a problem!" He yelled. "There was a mistake with the dragons, I don't know what happened --"

"What do you mean, boy?" Crouch said. "What happened?"

"We meant to bring different dragons," Charlie said, nearly out of breath. "But someone buggered it all up."

Y/N and Lana opened their hand to find two dragons, both similar to the other as one twin looked to the other.

"We meant to bring dragons like Hebridean Blacks and Norwegian Ridgebacks, but someone bought the wrong dragons," Charlie said. "Y/N and Lana are fighting twin Peruvain Vipertooths."
