Chapter 32: Reconciliation & Visions
Y/N POV
Well, that happened.
I thought I was going to be called mental, but it connected the dots anyway.
And I certainly didn't expect to be kissed on the lips either. But it felt good anyway. In fact, better than Hosgmeade.
Hermione continued to kiss me until we both needed to breathe. As we both caught our breath, she looked me in the eyes for a few moments and giggled, just like our first one.
"Hey, guys? As much as I liked to see my best friend and twin brother snogging..." Lana said. "What are we going to do about this?"
"Well, we can't tell the boys." Hermione said as she still held my hand. "Ron still won't believe us that Crookshanks didn't eat him, he certainly wouldn't believe that his rat is an Amimagus."
"And that his rat had an unusual lifespan," I said. "Since rats live for like three years. We should talk to Newt about it, he'd know something about that."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A week later, Hosgmeade came around, but something disturbing came around. Hermione had received a letter from Hagrid about Buckbeak. They lost. We also heard that Lupin took the Map away from Harry and Snape tried to figure out the Map as well.
"We have to tell them." Hermione said while her lips trembled. "They wanted to help before all this, right?"
"I guess you're right." I said. "We have to talk to them sooner or later."
We walked to the Common Room, where as the three of us entered, Ron glared furiously.
"Come to have a good gloat?" He said. "Or have you just been to tell on us?"
"No." Hermione said as her lip continued to tremble. "We just thought you ought to know...."
"Hagrid lost the case." I said quickly. "Buckbeak is sentenced to be executed."
"He sent us this." Hermione said as she gave the letter to Harry.
Dear Hermione, Lana and Y/N,
We lost. I'm allowed to bring him back to Hogwarts. Execution date to be fixed. Beaky has enjoyed London.
I won't forget all the help you gave us.
-Hagrid.
"They can't do this." Harry said as he finished. "They can't. Buckbeak isn't dangerous."
"Malfoy's father frightened the Committee into it." Hermione said as she slowly dropped tears from her eyes while I wiped them off. "You know what he's like. They're a bunch of doddery old fools, and they were scared."
"There'll be an appeal, though, there always is." I said. "We can't see any hope... Nothing will have changed."
"Yeah, it will." Ron said. "You three don't have to do this work by yourselves this time. I'll help."
Lana smiled a little and hugged Ron, who awkwardly patted her head.
"Ron, I'm really, really sorry about Scabbers." Hermione apologized. The three of us knew that Wormtail was Scabbers, but we didn't want Ron to be mad at us again.
"Oh, well, he was old." Ron said relieved. "And he was a bit useless. You never know, Mum and Dad might get me an owl now."
"Glad to know you're not acting like a prick again." I said as I shook his hand. Later at Care for Magical Creatures, that was our only chance for us to talk to Hagrid. He still seemed numb with shock.
"S'all my fault. Got all tongue-tied. They was all sittin' there in black robes an' I kep' droppin' me notes and forgettin' all them dates yeh looked up fer me, Hermione. An' then Lucius Malfoy stood up an' said his bit, and the Committee jus' did exac'ly what he told 'em..."
"There's still the appeal!" Ron exclaimed. "Don't give up yet, we're still working on it!"
"S'no good, Ron," Hagrid moped. "That Committee's in Lucius Malfoy's pocket. I'm jus' gonna make sure the rest o' Beaky's time is the happiest he's ever had. I owe him that..."
He then cried into his handkerchief while I patted him on the back and looked back at Buckbeak, who seemed to enjoy himself, despite being sentenced to death.
Hermione took notice of me and hugged me from behind. "We can still help Hagrid, right?" She whispered softly in my ear.
"Hopefully, 'Mione." I said. "And I will make sure that Lucius never threatens anyone ever again. Especially you."
Hermione softly smiled behind me, hugged me tighter and kissed my cheek. "My hero."
"Like I said, always will be."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Broaden your mind." Trelawney instructed again. "You must look beyond. The Art of Crystal gazing is in the clearing of the Inner Eye. Only then can you see."
I continued to look into the crystal ball as if something were to happen, but still nothing. Hermione tried a couple of times too but she didn't get anything either.
"Now what do we have here?" Trelawney said as she came to the five of us, but primary speaking to Harry.
"Do you mind me trying?" Hermione asked. "The Grim, possibly."
Trelawney looked at her and took her hand. "My dear, from the first moment you stepped foot in my class... I sensed that you did not possess the proper spirit...for the noble art of Divination."
Hermione was not amused. She kept a straight face as Trelawney kept talking.
"No, you see, there. You may be young in years, but the heart that beats beneath your bosom is as shriveled as an old maid's soul, your soul as dry as the pages of the books... to which you desperately cleave."
Hermione looked seriously offended. She stood up and packed her bag, but before she could leave, I tried to reach for her hand, but it landed on the crystal ball. And as soon as I touched it, I fell to the floor with a loud thud.
What I saw was... I didn't know how to describe it.
I saw what seemed to be a cradle where two babies slept as a red-headed woman stood over it next to who seemed to be our mother.
"Addison," The woman said. "They're beautiful. I love them already."
"Well, I hope they love their Aunt Lily as much as you love them." Mum said happily. "Just don't spoil them both when their birthdays come around."
"Oh, no promises, Addi." Lily said as she chuckled. "James would probably spoil them too."
"Oh, look!" Mum said. "They're awake."
Was this... our past? Was that Lily Potter?
Lily smiled and looked into the cradle. "Hi, Y/N! Hi, Lana!" She said in a soft voice. "I'm your Auntie Lily! I'm your mum's best friend."
I heard little us giggle in delight as Lily put her finger close to me as I grabbed it with my little hand.
"Y/N?!" I heard someone say. "Are you okay?!"
But then the memories shifted. I was suddenly in a graveyard behind a large tomb next to Harry, Lana and Cedric Diggory. We were all clutching a glowing cup before someone walked up to us while another voice shouted,
"KILL THE SPARE!"
"Avada Kedavra!" A green bolt struck Cedric in the chest, throwing him back and killing him in a matter of seconds.
"What's happening to him?!"
"I don't know?!"
Then it shifted again. I was now in a room with a mirror in the center where multiple people were casting spells at each other. I was then suddenly outside the room with Harry, Lana and Dumbledore facing...Voldemort?
He did something with his wand and breathed fire, turning it into a fiery snake ready to consume me. As the snake engulfed me, I then found myself in a Clock tower, where Dumbledore fell out, and curiously, his hand was scarred and the color of coal.
As Dumbledore hit the ground, the memories shifted once more. I was now in the Great Hall, but older and the Hall was destroyed. In front of me was who seemed to be Fenrir Greyback, who was now on the ground. From my right, I heard Mrs. Weasley shout,
"NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"
Ron was holding Lana in his arms as a snake inched forward, ready to attack them before Neville raised the Sword of Gryffindor and cut off it's head. I didn't see what happened after that, but I was suddenly now in a house that looked a little like ours. Next thing I knew, Hermione came out of a corner, but something was different.
She was older than she was now, but she looked like she was in her mid 20s. She was still as beautiful as ever and my eyes widened as I spotted something on her left hand.
A wedding ring.
One very similar to Mum's.
She looked through nearly every corner, looking for something until she laid her eyes on me and smiled.
"Hey, Honey!" She said as she came closer and kissed my lips passionately. "Have you seen them?"
'Honey?' I thought to myself. 'Hermione doesn't call me that. What's going on?'
"Who do you mean by 'them'?" I asked her.
She laughed a little. "Our daughter and Snuffles, sweetheart. We were playing Hide and Seek with her! Those days at the Auror Office must be tiring you, we should really have more off days together. But we have to get ready soon, we have the family gathering today."
Hermione's my wife?
I have a daughter?
I'm an Auror?
"Daddy!" A sweet voice called out to me as I felt something cling to my leg. I looked down to find a small child looking up at me, no older than 4, and beamed at me brightly. She had Hermione's brown eyes, a combination of her brown hair and my dirty blond hair and my smile. And she was so adorable. Snuffles came running and climbed on me and onto my shoulder.
"Alya!" Hermione said as she picked her up in her arms. "I've been looking for you everywhere! Where were you?"
"Sorry, Mummy." Alya said. "I was in Daddy's room with all the books. Daddy has some good books in there. Snuffles led me there."
"Oh, silly me!" Hermione said softly. "I forgot to check there. You're a very brilliant girl."
"I can see where she gets that from." I said as I looked at Hermione, who kissed me again. "I love you." She whispered in my ear, which made me blush super hard, but it also made me smile at the same time.
"Are we gonna see Auntie Lana, Mummy?" Alya asked.
"Oh of course we are!" Hermione replied. "We're also gonna see your Auntie Ginny, Uncle Harry, Uncle Ron, your grandma Addison... everyone, sweetheart. Now, go on, get ready. Mummy and Daddy will be there soon."
As Hermione put Alya down, she ran off to... I'm not sure right now, her room? Hermione turned back to me and put her arms around my neck. "Can you believe it?" She asked. "We have a life together, a daughter, a family..."
Even though I didn't know how in the bloody hell this happened, I... wanted it to happen. Will it happen like this? Or will it be different?
"It's...incredible." I said with a smile. "I can't believe it." Even though I didn't belong at that time, I wanted to be...
She smiled back. "We'll have something like this soon." She kissed me again.
"Y/N..."
I looked around to find the source of the voice but couldn't find it.
"Y/N...."
The voice was getting louder and louder, but I still didn't know where on earth it came from.
"Y/N!!!!!"
I shot up from the floor, sweating a lot, finding Hermione in front of me, but normal 14-year-old Hermione, not 20-something-year-old Hermione.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"I-I-I don't know." I said. I didn't want to freak her out with what I saw in the middle of that weird dream-thing. Dumbledore warned me something like this could happen, since Grindelwald was a natural Seer. He said that Lana and I could have inherited that from him.
Hermione took me by the hand, lifted me up and took me out of the room. Lana took her things and followed us out.
Harry POV
After Hermione, Y/N and Lana left the classroom, Ron looked at me and said. "What do you reckon happened to Y/N?"
"I don't know, Mate." I said. "He was shaking like crazy."
"HARRY POTTER...." Someone said in my gazing ball, which freaked me out.
"Professor Trelawney?" I asked, terrified.
"He will return tonight..." Trelawney said as she gazed into the crystal ball.
"Sorry?" I asked.
"Tonight, he betrayed his friends, whose heart rots with murder...shall break free. Innocent blood shall be split... and servant and master shall be reunited once more."
"I'm so sorry, dear boy." She said in her normal voice. "Did you say something?"
"No." I said. "Nothing."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak." Hermione said. "It's just too terrible." After Divination and Y/N's spasm, the three of them dropped the subject.
"It just got worse." I said as I saw the three idiotic Slytherins watching the excuetion.
"What did I say?" Malfoy said. "Father said I can keep the hippogriff's head. I'll donate it to the Gryffindors' room. Serves Lovegood right for the threats. I can't wait till he sees it. This is going to be rich."
He turned around and noticed us coming down. "Look who's here!"
I thought Y/N would be pissed because of the comment about Buckbeak, but Hermione came down, took out her wand and yelled, "You! You, foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!"
She raised her hand behind her head and pointed her wand at Malfoy's neck, who instantly regretted everything he'd said. Crabbe and Goyle were actually shocked that Hermione went as far as doing this. Y/N couldn't believe what was happening and walked up to her.
"Hermione!" Y/N said he took her hand. "Don't do it. He's not worth it."
She looked at him, who nodded as she began to turn and walk, and Malfoy thought he was in the clear.
Boy, was he so wrong.
Hermione quickly turned around and smacked him hard in the face. Y/N was so shocked and the three of us were as well. Malfoy fell as his henchman went to help him up. We couldn't help but grin.
"Malfoy, are you okay?" One asked him. "Let's go, quick."
"Not a word to anyone, understood?" Malfoy said.
"Oh, tell everyone?" Y/N said. "Gladly! Everyone will be so amazed to learn that Draco Malfoy, a biased pureblood, was punched in the face by the great Hermione Granger, who he continuously made fun of."
Malfoy cringed as he ran away while Hermione turned back to us. "That felt good." She exclaimed to us.
"Not just good!" Lana said. "That was brilliant!"
"That's my girl." Y/N said to his sister to which Hermione blushed and smiled.

Hermione POV
"Look at him." Hagrid said as he looked at Buckbeak. "Loves the smell of trees when the wind blows through them.
"Why don't we set him free?" Harry asked.
"They'll know it was us." Y/N said. "Dumbledore would get into trouble."
"He's coming down, Dumbledore." Hagrid sobbed. "Says he wants to be with me when they... when it happens. Great man, Dumbledore. A great man."
"We'll stay with you too, Hagrid." I said.
"You'll do no such thing!" He bellowed. "Think I want you seeing something like that? No, you just drink your tea and be off."
"Oh. Before you do, Ron." Hagrid said as he pulled a familiar face.
"Scabbers!" He exclaimed. "You're alive!"
I looked at Y/N and Lana, who stared at the rat, who we suspected to be Wormtail. Then something weird happened. A rock was thrown at Hagrid's window, who bellowed, "Blimey! What was that?"
Another rock flew and hit Harry and Y/N in the head. "Ow!" They said in conjunction.
"Very interesting." The voice of Cornelius Fudge said out loud.
"No, minister. Over this way." Dumbledore said.
"Yeh gotta go," Hagrid said. "They mustn' find yeh here... Go now..."
We all got ready to leave as we got our things together and Harry got the cloak over us. "I'll let yeh out the back way."
As we exited, Buckbeak knew what was happening and turned to his head to us.
"It's okay, Beaky." Hagrid said to Buckbeak. "It's okay." He turned back to us. "Go on, Get goin'."
"Hagrid, we can't--"
"We'll tell them what really happened --"
"They can't kill him --"
"Go!" He boomed. "It's bead enough with you lot in trouble an' all!"
We walked away as Hagrid went back in to greet his guests. "Please, let's hurry." I said. "I can't stand it, I can't bear it."
"Me either." Y/N and Lana said. "Wait, wha-"
"What?" I asked them. "What's wrong?"
"I swear I saw someone there." Lana said.
But Ron stopped as we were almost away. "Oh, please, Ron." Lana begged,
"It's Scabbers." Ron said. "He won't -- stay put!"
Ron continued to get Scabbers/Wormtail into his pocket, but he kept rustling around inside the cloak.
"Scabbers, it's me." Ron snapped. "You idiot, it's Ron."
"They're gonna do it!" Y/N said. "We have to go! Let's move!"
"Okay, Scabbers, stay put!"
But it was too late. We heard the crash of an axe as birds flew above us. Buckbeak was dead. I felt the tears come out of my eyes as I buried my head in Y/N's chest and hugged him while he wrapped his arms around me.
"They did it!" I said. "I'd -- don't believe it -- they did it!"
