79. Aftermath
Harry POV
After the Battle of Hogwarts, tensions had died down, but there was still the matter of the deaths. Too many people have died and thanks to Y/N, all of them were going to have a proper burial. Including Grindelwald and Vinda Roiser. We buried Remus and Tonks around the same place Dumbledore was, but the Weasleys chose to bury Percy where we had buried Dobby at Shell Cottage.
Percy wasn't the nicest person after we were in the Daily Prophet, but he had changed his ways and fought with us. But it was too bad it was his last. Most of the Weasleys were still mourning over him. Ron nearly cried as Lana was there to comfort him while I was doing the same for Ginny. The Weasley twins looked at Percy's grave solemnly, the both of them couldn't crack a joke at this time. Y/N and Hermione laid flowers near the grave as Anne and Mum paid their respects to Mrs. Weasley since she was the most hurt by Percy's death.
"He can be resting now..." Mrs. Weasley sobbed. "But at least there is a wedding to wait for, isn't there? That will be something to look forward to."
Ron and I were going to be part of the Ministry, while Lana, Hermione and Y/N were continuing at Hogwarts for one more year. Mum did come with more information about Hogwarts this year anyway. It would be a repeat year so everyone had to repeat the year in the same grade level. For Lana, Hermione and Y/N, they would be doing their 7th year with every other one, but others like Anne would repeat the year as a third year. At least she has her parents now.
Hermione and Y/N would be Head Girl and Boy for Gryffindor respectively and Lana would be Head Girl for Ravenclaw. Mum also established Dumbledore's Army again, but as a club that Y/N, Lana and Hermione would run with Neville, Ginny and Luna. Mum had also had staffing changes as Hogwarts needed a Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher and a Muggle Studies teacher. But Mum said she had it handled, and she would like for us to give lectures in the class sometime in the future. She also made some changes to Hogwarts since it was being rebuilt. More classrooms were made for other classes, a more inclusive curriculum and more rules that would help students.
Since the current term was canceled due to construction and such, Y/N, Lana, Hermione, Ron and I came to help set up with everything. We helped get rid of the rubble around as well as create a plague of those who died in the battle. In the Headmaster's office, Mum had also decided to put three portraits with the other Headmasters. One for Dumbledore, one for Snape and one for Grindelwald. Since all of them were Headmasters at one point and two wielded the Elder Wand, Mum had more than enough advice for how the school should operate.
"You should know...I was only acting on Dumbledore's orders." Snape's portrait spoke in the tone Snape would have used to Mum.
Mum nodded as his portrait was placed. "Well, hopefully, the changes I'm thinking of will be placed. I would like Hogwarts to be more accepting of it's students."
"What were you thinking, Mum?" Lana asked. Her and I were the only ones in the office. Ron was helping the other professors with their classrooms while Y/N and Hermione were helping those who lost their limbs. The first one they were helping was Kayla Rosario, since she was the first to volunteer.
"More inter-house relationships, like Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, Slytherin and Gryffindor, all the like." Mum said. "And as Dumbledore said previously, help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it. If some students have an issue with say... lycanthropy, they will be given Wolfsbane for their transformations and will be safely guided to the Shrieking Shack, where they can wait out the length of their transformations. In the morning, teachers will help them back to the castle."
"That's a pretty good idea!" I said to her. "That should definitely be a part of the rules."
"Thank you, Harry." Mum said kindly as she ruffled my hair. "I am a little upset that you won't be attending this year, but I'm also happy at the same time you're going to be an Auror. But please come and visit, for your godmother's sake."
"Of course I will." I smiled as Lana also ruffled my hair. "Otherwise, I'm not sure what Lana would do to me and Ron if we didn't."
"Good you remembered." Lana giggled and looked at Mum. "Have you heard from Draco?"
Draco, now being the only Malfoy as his family had defected from the Death Eaters, was now on his own. No one even knew if his mother and father were even alive.
"Oh, yes." Mum said. "Draco did reach out and say he is attending, but he decided that Malfoy Manor had to go through some much-needed renovation, especially for Teddy coming to visit him in the later years. So he'll be staying at Hogwarts through the breaks." Mum's face fell a little as she thought of Teddy. "Poor boy..." She mumbled. "He had to lose his parents too."
"At least he has Y/N, Draco, Lana and I." I said.
"Yes, of course." Mum said with a smile on her face. "He'll know of the heroic efforts his parents have done. If we can update the history, I will be sure to add the current part that has happened. We do need to let Binns go, he doesn't know he became a ghost."
She then turned to us. "I think that's enough work for you five today." She said kindly with a smile. "You can go home if you want, I might be a little late. Oh, and that reminds me!" She opened her desk and pulled a small package out. "This is for Anne. Tell her it's a gift from her grandmother. I think she'll like it."
She handed the package to Lana and hugged the both of us as we waved goodbye to her. We then entered the Great Hall, where we found Hermione helping Y/N with Kayla's new arm. Ron was watching in awe as Y/N was mending the arm with his wand.
"Alright, now, try bending your fingers for me?" Y/N asked as he finished with some of the metal work.
"I can try..." Kayla said as she bent her pointer finger and the rest into a fist, but she winced in pain.
"Okay, you might have some pain for a couple of days, that will be normal from what I've studied." Y/N assured her. "But that will go away. Just come back tomorrow if you find any problems and we can try to fix them."
"Thank you so much." Kayla smiled. "It may not be like my arm, but I can get used to it. Still thank you very much. And congrats on the engagement." She managed a wave as she left with her new girlfriend.
"Well, well." I said as the couple turned around. "So how is it going for you lot?"
Lana POV
As Harry asked, I hugged Ron and turned back to the lovely couple. "Well, having to make functioning prosthetic arms are a handful, no pun intended." Y/N said as Hermione chuckled.
"But he makes it work." Hermione said as she kissed his cheek. "This was the first of many, although. We'd have to take them by appointment, since there is a lot that goes into making arms and legs."
"And what about you, Ron?" I asked him. "How is it with the teachers?"
Ron chuckled a little for the first time in a while. "Well, McGonagall is stern as always, told me it took me long enough for me to get together with you. Filtwick was quite calm, set up the Charms classroom and had a couple laughs. Slughorn was also calm and helped Sprout with the Mandrakes. Forgot how loud they were."
I giggled a little and rubbed his cheek as I remembered. "Oh, right!" I said as I took out Anne's gift and handed it to Hermione. "Mum wanted to give this to Anne, said it was a gift for her."
"Aw, that's sweet of her." Hermione said as she received the present. "We better get home then?"
"Oh, yeah." Ron said. "Have to make a spot at Diagon Alley though, check on Fred and George. See you lot around." Before he left, I leaned in to kiss him as he kissed back. He smiled and disapparated away. Mum still didn't put the apparition spell back up. But Y/N was giving Hermione a loving smile and was looking at her lovingly as well. Hermione turned and laughed a little. "What happened?" She giggled. "I love it when you smile, but how come?"
"You called Lovegood Manor home." He said to her as she smiled back and kissed him.
"I mean, it will be my home too soon, won't it?" Hermione retorted. "But we should get back, shouldn't we?" We all agreed and apparated for home. As soon as we arrived, a voice came by the stairs that made Hermione and Y/N smile.
"You're home!" Anne said as she ran up and hugged her parents. "I missed you all..." She came to hug me and then Harry.
"How is it being back at Hogwarts?" Anne asked as we all sat down in the sitting room. Anne sat in between Y/N and Hermione while Harry laid down on the couch and I sat next to him.
"Mum's coming with some new rules for Hogwarts that are more inclusive for the future students." I said to her. "So anyone with lycanthropy, different blood status, sexual orientation would get any help they need when they so choose."
"And Professor Binns was let go from the History of Magic class." Y/N added.
We sat and talked for a while about other things. Y/N and Hermione had signed Anne's Hogsmeade form so that she could enjoy Hogsmeade with us since she had to repeat her third year and we repeated our seventh.

"Hey, I realize we could have all signed it." Harry said as we all looked at him. "I mean, Lana's her aunt, I'm her uncle of sorts, Mum could have too, not sure since she's headmaster."
"That does make sense..." Anne said. "I mean, they would be my guardians as well, right?" She asked Hermione and Y/N, who agreed.
"Yeah, in case." Y/N said. "But I think it's nearly time for dinner. I have to get everything set up."
"Oh, I'll help you!" Hermione said as she joined him in the kitchen. Anne had joined me while Harry went to his room to feed Hedwig and write to Ginny.
"So, how are you liking it?" I asked Anne, as she looked at me. "Your new home, Y/N and Hermione being your parents?"
"I like it a lot." Anne replied with a smile. "And it feels nice that they're my parents now. I do miss everyone at the orphanage, but at least I have a family now. I not only have a mum and dad, but I have uncles, a grandma, a great-grandma and you as an aunt."
Can I just say... I love my niece so much! She's so sweet and adorable.
"Awww." I said as I hugged her, making her giggle. "Well, I am very glad I am your aunt."
"Me too." Anne said. "Also, Mum said you were planning the wedding?"
"Oh yeah." I smirked to myself. "I have loads of plans, Luna and I need to go through them. Want to help us?"
"Would I ever!" Anne exclaimed happily. "How is Aunt Luna? Is she doing okay with Neville?"
After the battle, Neville did confess to Luna, and surprisingly, Luna felt the same for him. Neville was now her boyfriend, which would be very interesting.
"She's doing good, last I checked with her." I said. "Neville's treating her right, and Luna said he is very sweet. He is definitely invited to the wedding."
Along with Neville, Draco, the other Weasleys, Dean, Seamus, Parvati, Padma, Sam, Kayla, most of the other Gryffindors and Ravenclaws, Cedric, Fleur, Kingsley, the Misfits lot, and others would be present at the wedding.
Y/N POV
While Anne and Lana were talking, Hermione and I were making dinner. It was quite nice, just us cooking together. We were making Cilantro Lime Chicken from a Muggle Cookbook Hermione got a while back. It wouldn't take that long, but we made the most out of our time cooking.
Soon enough, Dinner was ready and we all got to the table to enjoy it. Everyone liked it and I kissed Hermione on the cheek. We then decided to give Anne Mum's gift since Hermione was carrying it. We asked to meet her in her room and we came in after, sitting on her bed.
"So, what's up?" Anne asked. "Wait, I'm not in trouble, am I?"
"No, of course not." I said with a chuckle. "You didn't make any trouble."
"We just wanted to give you something." Hermione assured her. "Your grandmother wanted to give this to you."
She pulled out what Lana had given her. I was curious as to what Mum had given her. I bet she was going to spoil our kids. Anne looked at the present and looked back as we both mouthed, "Open it." She unwrapped the packaging and opened a lid of a box, revealing a heart-shaped locket. It looked like it encased something as well.
Anne flipped the latch of the locket and pulled out a small message as she showed it to us. It read...
Welcome to the family, Anne.
I'm very happy to be your grandmother.
Love, Grandma Addison.
I sat next to Anne as Hermione did on the other side of her bed. Anne ran her fingers on the locket and tears nearly dropped from her eyes. I put my arm on her shoulder as she pressed her head on my chest while Hermione rubbed her back. "I love it so much." Anne said. "I still can't believe I have a grandma now."
"Well, you do now." I said softly while Hermione continued to rub her back. "And we know she cares for you just as much as we do."
"Do you want me to put it around your neck for you?" Hermione asked as Anne nodded and gave her the necklace while she pushed her hair to her other shoulder. Hermione took the necklace, wrapped the chain around Anne's neck and fastened it so that it wouldn't be loose. As Anne looked at the necklace, Hermione smiled and kissed her forehead.
"It looks lovely on you." Hermione smiled at her. Anne smiled back and hugged her too. "Thanks, mum. Thanks, Dad." I heard Anne mutter.
"Always." I said. "We care about you very much, you know?"
"Yeah." She said as she yawned. "I think I'll turn in early. I'm pretty tired."
Just then, Snuffles crawled in the room and climbed into Anne's arms, which made her giggle as Snuffles fell asleep. Soon enough, Anne had fallen asleep and her head laid on my chest.
Hermione looked at me with another loving smile as she snuck her hand in mine. We left the bed as I carefully let her head rest on the pillow. We both looked at her as I whispered, "Good night, Anne." with a kiss on her head.
What happened next put a smile on both our faces.
"Night, dad. Night, mum." Anne muttered in her sleep. "I love you both."
Hermione gasped as I hugged her from behind. Hermione watched in amazement of what our daughter had said. "You - you heard that, didn't you?"
"Course I did, Love." I said as I felt her hand reach to my cheek and kiss me. "Our daughter loves us."
"Do you think she'll say it in front of us sometime?" She asked.
"We just give her time." I answered. "She might be nervous to say it."
"Well... I guess you're right." She said with a small smile. "I love you. And I love her too."
"I love you both too." I said. "Come on, let's go to our room."
As we walked into our room, Hermione pulled me in to kiss me and I smiled as I felt her soft lips on mine. She jumped into my arms and I carried her into the bed. Hermione chuckled as we continued to kiss and eventually we fell asleep.

Two weeks later, Hermione decided it was finally time to get her parents back. The two of us and Anne had booked plane tickets for the three of us to New York. Mum, Harry and Lana wished the three of us safe travels and we had apparated to Gatwick Airport, where our plane was due to take off. Hermione was used with planes, but Anne and I never went on one. When we went to New York for the first time, we used a Portkey. And Anne never went out of England before.
We loaded our luggage and got into our seats. I kinda got adjusted since I was on a Thestral and a Hippogriff before, but Anne had never been in a plane so I let her grip my hand as tight as she could. Hermione was comforting her as well, but as the plane ascended in the air, Anne slowly got comfortable and relaxed. It was a 17-hour flight, so it could get a little boring. We were able to have some lunch midway, and I did feel tired after a while, so I decided to rest my eyes.
Hermione POV
I was quite bored on the plane, so I was reading a book to wait for the plane to land. I was currently reading one of the books from Addison's library, there were loads of good books from there. I was nearly done until I was tapped on the shoulder by one of the flight attendants.
"Excuse me, miss?" The flight attendant asked. "Would your boyfriend and daughter like a blanket?"
I was a little confused, but as I looked to my right to find Anne and Y/N asleep together. Y/N was fast asleep and Anne was hugging him like a daughter would. I looked back at the attendant with a small smile.
"Oh, um, yes." I said to her. "He is my fiancé, but yes, I'm sure they would like a blanket. I'm a little surprised that you didn't judge that we have a daughter who is slightly younger."
"Oh, yes." The attendant continued. "Don't worry, I won't judge. You both clearly do care for her, so there would be no need to."
She went off, returned with a blanket and I set it over the three of us. I smiled at the two of them and waited for the plane to land. After a very long time, we had arrived in New York. The two of them woke up, but they seemed jet-lagged, so we checked into the hotel and went to sleep, ready for the next day.
My parents will get to meet their granddaughter.
That would be exciting to see.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, we found where MACUSA had placed them. They were near the East Village, and it was very inclusive. Loads of people of different backgrounds lived here.
"So, according to Abigail Graves..." Y/N said as he looked down at an address that some MACUSA Aurors gave us. "Wendell and Monica live right there." He pointed to an apartment to the right near a window. We walked to the apartment district and went up the stairs to apartment 632, where they had resided for a year.
As we approached the door, Y/N looked at me. "Do you want to knock?" He asked. "Or do you want me to?"
I let him knock on the orange door, and a few moments later, Dad (who didn't remember me) opened the door.
"Oh, Klaus!" Dad said with a small smile. "So good to see you again! Monica and I were wondering when you'd come to visit."
Anne looked very confused. "Why did he call Dad Klaus?" She whispered.
"Fake name he used the first time." I explained. "Dad must remember him like that."
"Oh, uh, yeah, of course!" Y/N said in a American accent. "Thought I'd wait, see how y'all are accustomed to America, you know? I heard 'long the grapevine you got some dogs?"
"Indeed we do." Dad smiled. "Hey, Monica! Klaus is here! With some friends of his."
"Oh, do invite them in!" I heard Mum say. "Be nice to meet his friends." As Dad ushered us in, Mum had a good look at us, but looked at me. "I'm sorry, have we met?" She asked me. "It's just... you look very familiar."
"I must have one of those faces." I said to her. It was kind of crushing to know my mum didn't know who I was. I'm sure Anne felt it in my voice and squeezed my hand and Y/N saw it in my face. "Hey, Wendell?" He asked him. "I'm gonna need you and Monica to sit down and close your eyes." As they did, Y/N waved his hand over them and muttered, "Somnum."
As the spell was cast, Mum and Dad fell asleep on the couch as Y/N and I went through his grandfather's journal. Y/N mentioned once that Dumbledore could extract memories with Legilimency, and Grindelwald had a whole process written down. But Y/N mentioned it could tire him out as if was difficult and he needed a lot of skill.
"Are you sure you can handle it?" I asked. "There has to be another way."
"This is the best one to retrieve memories." Y/N said. "There's a guarantee that all their memories will come back. I want their memories back too. You trust me with doing this?"
"I can always trust you, Love." I said with a kiss on his lips. I backed away with Anne, just in case Y/N needed space to perform the spell as he raised his hands to their heads and muttered some words under his breath.
I was kinda getting worried after a while as Y/N began to sweat from his head and I thought I saw some blood from his nose. At that moment, his hands lifted from their heads and Y/N fell to the floor as we both ran to him. He had fallen unconscious from the effort. But just as he fell, Mum and Dad's eyes shot open and the first person they laid their eyes on...
Was me.
"Hermione?" Dad said as my eyes filled with tears and I hugged both of them. The both of them were crying too as they hugged me back. As I let go, I went back to Y/N as they looked around.
"Where are we?" Mum asked. "How did we get here?" Then she saw me with Y/N on the ground with Anne. "And what happened to Y/N?!"
"It's a long story, Mum." I said to her. "I promise, I will explain, but we need to get him awake."
"He's really cold." Anne said as she placed the back of her hand on his forehead.
"Here, let's get him on the couch." Dad said as he got off and helped Y/N onto the couch. "Now, how'd we get here?"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So let me get this straight." Mum said as I took a sip of the Earl Grey Tea she made for us. "The reason you wiped our memories was to protect us from those... Death Eaters and that Voldemort person?"
"Yes." I answered.
"And you and your friends went on a quest to destroy... what did you call them, Horcruxes?" Dad asked.
"That's correct." I answered again.
"Now Voldemort's gone," Mum said. "And you came to give us our memories back since we're safe now?"
"Yeah, I missed you so much." I said with another sip of Earl Grey. "Y/N helped give your memories back, but it took a lot of effort."
Y/N was now on the couch resting. Mum gave him a pillow and a blanket to help warm him up. I hope he was alright.
"Well, I am thankful for him doing that." Mum said. "He would be a great husband to you."
I blushed a moment and looked at them. "Um... about that." I chucked a little as well. "Y/N did propose to me. In December."
Mum and Dad looked awestruck while Anne looked in between me and them. Mum was smiling but was speechless while Dad was just speechless. Anne was confused as to what was going to happen next.
"And I said yes." I added which made Mum's jaw drop and she smiled and Dad's eyes widened.
"You mean to say..." Mum said. "That boy, resting on our sofa, is going to be our son-in-law?" I nodded while Dad managed a smile.
"I like him." He said. "I thought he would propose after Hogwarts, but still, glad you both are getting married."
Mum looked over to Anne, who was still a little nervous. "Oh, I'm so sorry, dear, that was rude of us." She said softly. "And you are...?"
"I'm -- I'm Anne." She said, equally nervous as I came closer to her.
"It is very nice to meet you, Anne." Mum said softly again.
"Oh, yeah, I also forgot to mention." I said as Anne scooted closer to me. "Anne is our daughter. Our adoptive daughter. So... she's also your...granddaughter."
"Hi...?" Anne said nervously with a small smile.
"I became a grandfather and a father-in-law on the same day?" Dad said with a grin. "I must be getting old."
"Ugh... what happened?" Y/N said as he woke up. "I feel like I've been hit in the head... again." As Anne saw him get up, she walked over and hugged him.
"Again?" Mum said as she helped him up. "Y/N, you really must be looking out for yourself. Especially when you're going to be a married man soon."
"I'm guessing by the fact you remember my name the memory reversal worked?" Y/N smiled but held his head. "Oww... that did hurt a lot."
"Would you like some Earl Grey, dear?" Mum asked him as she handed him a cup. "Clears the mind. Should possibly help."
As Y/N took a sip of the tea, Mum then asked. "So you proposed to our daughter?" I do hope we're at the wedding."
"Of course, you would be!" I exclaimed. "Who would walk me down the aisle?"
Dad smiled at me. "Well, I ought to," he said. "I do want to see my daughter on her wedding day. I'm so proud!"
