75). Return of the Army

Lana POV

The man lead us into the Hog's Head, where we found a jagged piece of the mirror Harry was carrying. Who was this man and why did he look alike to Albus Dumbledore?

"You bloody fools!" The man yelled. "What were you think coming here? Do you have any idea how dangerous it is --"

"You're Aberforth," Harry interrupted. The man went silent and eyed him. "Dumbledore's brother. It's you I've been seeing -- Here. It's you who sent Dobby." Harry continued as he held his shard.

"Where've you left him?" Aberforth asked.

"He's dead," I said. "Killed by Bellatrix Lestrange."

Aberforth looked down. "Sorry to hear it. I liked that elf."

"How'd you come by it?" Harry asked Aberforth.

"Mundungus Fletcher, 'bout a year ago."

Y/N looked disgusted. "So he lets Moody get killed, Umbridge gets the real Horcrux and steals from Sirius? Wonder if he gets Azkaban..."

"Dung had no right selling you that..." Harry said. "It belonged --"

"To Sirius," Aberforth said. "Albus told me. He also told me that you'd likely be hacked off if you ever found out I had it. But ask yourself where you'd be if I didn't."

We didn't answer as Aberforth eyed the five of us. "Right then. Reckon you're hungry," Aberforth said. "Let's get you fed, then think of the best way to get you out of here." Aberforth set a table moments later with plates of food as we began to eat. We haven't had much of a proper meal for days, so as we ate, Aberforth filled a glass with some old mead laying around.

It was clearly not his first one.

"Do you hear much from the others?" Hermione asked. "From the Order? Or Addison?"

"The Order is finished. You-Know-Who's won." Aberforth said, taking a sig of the mead. "Anyone who says otherwise is kidding themselves. My niece, on the other hand, is defending those students. Been in contact, but she says she's going to protect those kids with her life."

Y/N and I smiled. It was nice to know our mother's alive and protecting them. "She's also reorganized that army with our name... Dumbledore's Army..." He said.

"We need to get into Hogwarts." Harry said. "Dumbledore gave us a job to do."

"Did he now?" Aberforth asked. "Nice job? Easy?"

I scoffed. "When has anything ever been easy with this?"

"We've been hunting Horcruxes." Harry said. "We think the last one's in the school. But we'll need your help getting in. If we can find it and kill it, then we kill him, and then we can end this war once and for all. We need to get into Hogwarts tonight."

Aberforth looked at him and sighed after a moment of silence. "It's not a job my brother's given you, it's a suicide mission. Do yourself a favor boy. Go home. Live a little longer."

"Dumbledore trusted us," Harry said sternly. "To see this through."

What makes you think you can trust him!" Aberforth yelled. "What makes you think you can believe anything my brother told you! In all the time you knew him, did he ever mention my name? Did he ever mention hers?" He pointed to the picture on the wall, who was clearly his and Albus's sister, and therefore, Mum's aunt.

Ariana Dumbledore.

"Why should he..." Harry said.

"Keep secrets!?" Aberforth yelled again. "You tell me."

"I only care about the Dumbledore we know. We trusted him."

"Did you now? And why is that?"

"I had no reason not to --"

"That's a boy's answer," Aberforth beckoned. "A boy who goes chasing Horcruxes on the word of a man who won't even tell him where to start. You're lying. Not just to me, which doesn't matter, but to yourself as well. That's what a fool does."

"You're drunk," Y/N said bluntly.

"You don't strike me as a fool, Mr. Lovegood." He said to my brother. "So I'll ask you again. There must be a reason. Why do you trust anything my brother ever said to you? Why?"

"Because he was our grandfather!" He said to Aberforth. "Grindelwald may have been ours biologically, but he had been more, regardless of him being in Nurmengard! And now both are dead and we owe to them to keep their promise. I want to live in a world without Voldemort, where I can be happy with the woman I love and raise our children together without the constant threat of the damn Death Eaters!"

Hermione had slipped her hand into Y/N and she smiled at him as Harry then spoke up. "We've lost too many people to lie down now. I'm not interested in what happened between you and your brother, I don't even care that you've given up. I trust the man I knew. I'm going to see this through. We need to get into the castle tonight."

We all nodded and looked at Aberforth. Along with that, I felt Ron's hand brush against mine as Aberforth looked at the portrait of Ariana.

"You know what to do." He said solemnly. Ariana smiled and walked further in her portrait as we looked back at Aberforth.

"Where have you seen her?" Harry and Y/N asked.

"You'll see soon enough," Aberforth grumbled with another swig.

"That's Ariana, isn't it?" Hermione asked. "Your sister. She's beautiful."

"She'll always be beautiful."

"She died very young, didn't she?" Hermione asked again.

"My brother sacrificed many things in his journey to find power, including her. She was devoted to him -- he gave her everything, but time." He looked at the empty frame.

"Mr. Dumbledore... thank you." I said to him. "You did save our lives twice. Kept an eye on us in that mirror. That doesn't seem like someone who's given up, does it?"

"She's coming back!" Hermione said as we looked as we eyed the portrait. "And she's got someone with her!"

"Who's that with her?" Ron asked as the portrait opened to reveal who Ariana brought with her. "Bloody hell..."

It was none other than Neville Longbottom, who had a black eye and a couple bruises but a smile was still on his face.

"I knew you'd come!" He said with that smile. "I told them all! Harry Potter, Y/N Lovegood, and Lana Lovegood would never abandon Hogwarts!"

Y/N POV

"Neville, you look..." Harry said as Neville jumped out of the portrait, showing off his clothes torn, a gashed face, and long hair.

"Like hell? I reckon." He said. "This is nothing. Seamus is worse. You'll see. Y/N! Lana! Hermione! Ron!" He then hugged us all.

"We heard the news," He said. "Thank Merlin Umbridge is done."

"Oh yeah," I chuckled. "Hope we get pardoned off that. I don't want to be convicted of a crime, when it was really self-defense, before I get married, do I?"

Neville looked confused for a minute as Hermione took my hand and told him. "Y/N and I are engaged, Neville." She said with a smile. Neville grinned again and smiled widely. "Congratulations!" He said and hugged us again. "I reckon the Gryffindors will go nuts when they hear. Hey, Ab. There might be a couple more people on the way." He turned back to us and led us in the portrait hole.

"Well, ready?" He asked as we nodded. As they went in, Hermione took my hand and looked into my eyes.

"Once more into the breach?" I asked her.

"Allons-y," She answered and kissed my lips as we helped each other into the hidden passage.

As Neville led us through the passage, we looked through the tunnel taking us who knows where. "I don't remember this being on the Marauder's Map." Ron said.

"That's because it never existed till now," Neville explained. "The seven secret passages were sealed off before the start of the year. This is the only way in or out now. The grounds are crawling with Death Eaters and Dementors."

"How bad is it, Neville?" Hermione asked him. "With Snape as Headmaster?"

"Hardly ever see him," he said. "It's the Carrows you have to watch out."

"You mean the Death Eaters appointed for Dark Arts?" Lana asked.

"Exactly," Neville said. "Brother and sister. They're in charge of discipline. Like punishment, the Carrows." He pointed to a gash on his face.

"They did that to you?" Neville said. "But why?"

"Today's Dark Arts lesson had us practicing the Cruciatus Curse." Neville said. "On First Years. I refused. Hogwarts has changed."

"Merlin's beard," I gasped. "On the first years? They're gonna be sorry."

"Aw, c'mon, Don't be grim," Neville said shyly. "We're all used to it by now. And the thing is, it helps when people stand up, gives everyone hope. I used to notice that when you did it, Harry. C'mon, we're almost there. Addison is going to be so glad to see you all."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Night fell a while later as Neville continued our trek towards where he was leading us. We eventually arrived at a door as Neville turned back to us.

"Let's have a bit of fun, shall we?" He asked as he pushed open the room, revealing the Room of Requirement with the colors of Blue, red and yellow without any presence of green anywhere. "Hey! Listen up, you lot! I've brought you a surprise!"

"Not more of Aberforth's cooking, I hope." The Irish accented-voice of one Seamus Finnagan said. "Be a surprise if we could digest it." Neville opened the door the whole way, revealing us as we stepped from the darkness as multiple faces didn't speak and stared at us. Utter silence filled the room until...

"Blimey."

Voices boomed as they saw us and cheered as we walked through the masses and we received many handshakes and backslaps. Luna, Dean, Cho and Lavender were among the faces we saw as Neville got to Nigel and whispered to him.

"Get the word out to Remus and the others that Harry and the twins are back." He said as Nigel nodded and ran to a battered Wizard Wireless. "River, DA calling," Nigel reported. "Do you read? We have a new weather report: Lightning and thunder have struck. I repeat, Lightning and thunder has struck!"

"Y/N? Lana?" A very familiar voice said behind us and we turned around to find our mother crying happy tears at our sight and a smile on her face. Anne was standing next to her
"Mum!" We both said as we ran to her and she had embraced us both in a hug. As we separated for a moment, Mum saw Harry and hugged him too. "I've missed you," She said as she looked at all of us. "All of you. I'm so glad you're all back here!" She looked at Hermione, but more noticeably, the ring on her finger.

"Hermione..." She said, with another smile on her face. "You're... you're wearing the ring I gave to Y/N..." Hermione nodded and took my hand. Mum still smiled and hugged her too. "Anne, you were right, this was worth waiting for!" Anne smiled as well and hugged us too.

"Okay, Okay! Stand down!" Neville said. "Let's not kill them before You-Know-Who gets the chance or before the lovebirds officially tie the knot!" Everyone settled down as Neville spoke up again. "Right then. What's the plan?" he asked us as everyone watched for anything to happen.

"Okay. There's something we need to find, something hidden here in the castle," Harry said. "It could help us defeat You-Know-Who."

"What is it?"

"We don't know."

"Where is it?" Dean asked.

"Don't know that either." Harry said. "I realize it's not much to go on..."

"That's nothing to go on." Seamus remarked.

Lana looked up at the Ravenclaw banner and looked back. "We think it might be something to do with Ravenclaw," She said. "It would be small, easy to conceal, valuable. Any ideas? I can't figure it out right now, for the life of me..."

"Well, there's Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem," Luna spoke up as Lana's head perked up and snapped her fingers. "That's it!"

"Oh, bloody hell," Ron sighed. "Here we go."

"The lost diadem of Ravenclaw?" Luna and Lana asked around. "Hasn't anyone ever heard of it? It's quite famous."

"Yes, but Lana, Luna, it's lost," Cho said. "For centuries now. There's not a person alive today who's seen it."

The other Ravenclaws nodded as I sighed now. "Excuse me," Ron asked. "But would someone tell me: what's a bloody diadem?"

"It's a kind of crown," Lana explained. "Like a tiara. Maybe like your Aunt Muriel's."

"Ravenclaw's was rumored to have magical properties," Mum said, being a Ravenclaw herself. "To enhance the wisdom of the wearer." Just then, a pair of footsteps came around the staircase as Ginny emerged, laying her eyes on Harry.

"Harry..." She said to him.
"Hey there," Harry said nervously.

Ron was about to speak, but he found Ginny's eyes on Harry, and only Harry. He frowned and turned to us. "Six months she hasn't seen me and it's like I'm Frankie first Year. I mean, I'm only her brother."

"Got loads of those, though, doesn't she?" Seamus said, earning a chuckle from me. "There's only one Harry."

"Shut up, Seamus," Ron said.

"Ginny," Addison addressed her. "What is it?"

"Snape knows," Ginny said as she caught her breath. "He knows Harry and the twins were spotted in Hogsmeade."

Hermione POV

As Ginny announced the news, people started to talk, to which Addison silenced them. She then decided that Lana, Y/N and Harry would wear Ravenclaw and Gryffindors robes to blend in with the rest of the students while we went with the Order. As the Gryffindors and Ravenclaws give them their robes and Y/N slipped on his robe, I took him into a corner where it was just the both of us. As no-one was watching, I kissed him like I never had before.

He kissed me back and pulled me closer to him to keep kissing until we eventually stopped. "Come back safe," I said to him.
"I will, love," He said with another kiss. "When this is all over, we'll have our life together. That's all I'm thinking of now."

"I love you so much," I said and wrapped my arms around his neck.

"I love you more." he said as the Gryffindors got ready and Anne was waiting for him. He joined her and walked to the Great Hall with the other houses.

Addison had summoned the rest of the Order, consisting of Kingsley Shacklebolt, most of the Weasleys (even Percy, who was a late arrival), Remus, Addison, Cedric, Ron, Neville, Filtwick, Sprout, Slughorn, three people named Nick Wilson, Axel Leroy Smith and Ashley Zermeno and myself. Those three said they knew Y/N and owed him a favor.

We were standing outside the Great Hall as we watched Harry, Y/N, Lana and the rest of the students go in. Someone stood out of line, where Alecto Carrow eyed her cruelly with a smirk.

"Put a smile on, Miss Reynolds," Carrow said. "Wouldn't want me to have to pay a visit to Daddy again, would you?" The nerve of these Death eaters, it's so disgusting. I saw Y/N and Harry with the Gryffindors with Anne and Ginny respectively. Ginny and Harry were discreetly holding hands together as Anne stuck close with Y/N. He had caught my eye and winked with a small smile on his face as they entered and stood in place. We stood behind the door as we heard Snape make his announcement.

"Many of you are surely wondering why I have summoned you at this hour," Snape said in his usual tone. "It has come to my attention that earlier this evening... Harry Potter, Y/N Lovegood and Lana Lovegood were sighted in Hogsmeade." Murmured voices arose as it slowly died down.

"I mention this in the hopes that the truth will not be supplanted by rumor," He continued. "For myself and a few select members of the staff this comes as little surprise. We have, for some time, considered Mr. Potter's and the Lovegood's return to Hogwarts to be not only possible but inevitable. Consequently, in the past several months and under my specific direction, exhaustive defensive strategies have been employed to defeat any attempt Mr. Potter and the Lovegoods might make to breach these walls. But know this. Should anyone -- student or staff -- attempt to aid Mr. Potter, that person will be punished in a manner consistent with the severity of their transgression. Rest assured: So long as I am Headmaster at Hogwarts, Harry Potter will never again step foot in this castle."

A few rounds of Applause came from the Slytherin side, but I knew that some of them supported us. Silence rose again.

"Now then..." Snape said. "If anyone here has knowledge of their movements this evening... I invite them to step forward now." More silence until...

"We think we can help you out with that," We heard Harry say as his footsteps with Y/N and Lana's followed after him. "It would seem that, despite your stupid, inaffective strategies, you have some security issues to work out, headmaster." Y/N added.

Now was our cue. Kingsley opened the door for us to walk into the hall and look at Snape, who appeared stunned. We were all ready to attack if need be.

"We're afraid it's quite extensive," Lana said. "But we'd rather not, we'll watch the idiots around panic." The Carrows seemed afraid as they laid their eyes on the twins. Snape stared with uncertainty in his eyes as he watched us.

"How dare you stand where he stood," Harry said. "Tell them how it was that night. Tell then how you looked him in the eye, a man who trusted you... and killed him. TELL THEM!"

Before Snape or the Carrows reacted, Professor McGonagall stood in front of Harry and the twins with her wand out. Y/N and Lana decided to stand with her with their wands out to, both were aimed at the Carrows.

Snape moved for his wand as the Carrows had readied themselves, but McGonagall and the twins were quicker than them. McGonagall cast a Volcanic Blast towards the Death Eaters and the twins shot a lightning bolt, but Snape deflected them just barely. The three of them continued to shot more spells and curses toward them as Snape defended himself, but managed to knock out both of the Carrows.

Snape was now near the window as the twins advanced to him, but he took his chance and disapparated out of the window to escape. Students were screaming as the Hall was plunged into darkness, but that eventually subsided as McGonagall and Addison put the lights back up.

"Coward... COWARD!" McGonagall raged. "And he didn't even stay to fight!" She then turned to Harry and the twins. "Mr. Potter, Lovegoods, do you mind telling me what you're doing here, which, I trust you realize, is an act of complete and utter lunacy? Mind you, I am more than happy to see my Grandchildren here, but risk doing something so reckless?"

"We're Gryffindors," Harry and Y/N said.

"And Ravenclaws take just as many risks as the Gryffindors," Lana added as she hung her arms around her brothers' necks.

"I thought it might have something to do with that," She said with a smile as Addison addressed the school. "All right! Settle down! Settle down!" THe room quieted as she looked around while Y/N and Lana chained the Carrows up in a corner.

"It appeared that your Headmaster, to use the common phrase," She said with a small smile. "Has done a bunk."

Everyone cheered, save for a few Slytherins, while Fred and George took it upon themselves to cheer, "Headmistress... Headmistress... Headmistress!" Everyone began to cheer the same for Addison to become Headmistress again as McGonagall and the twins smiled at her as she took their cheers.

Until Harry whined and held his scar.

Y/N and Lana went to Harry as dark clouds formed over the enchanted ceiling. We all watched in horror of what was to come next. The flames blew as the room got chiller. The room got more silent until a scream was heard and a girl was cowering in the corner, covering her ears. Harry winced again as more screams erupted from the dark environment.

"I know that many of you will want to fight..." Voldemort hissed in a deathly whisper that everyone could hear, not just Harry. "Some of you may even think this wise. But this is folly."

"I wish you no harm. I have great respect for the students of Hogwarts. I was once one myself after all. I ask for but one thing and if granted no magical blood shall be spilt..."

"Give me Harry Potter. Do this and none shall be harmed. Give me Harry Potter and I shall leave Hogwarts untouched. Give me Harry Potter and you will be rewarded."

"What a fucking lie that was." Y/N said aloud. "Magical blood spilt... then who murdered Gellert Grindelwald and Vinda Roiser, huh?! Who gave the order for Draco Malfoy or Severus Snape to assassinate Alblus Dumbledore!? We're not going to give you, Harry, so fuck off, you wanking piece of shit!"

"WHAT DID YOU CALL ME, BOY!?"

"You heard him, you goddamn bastard!" Lana yelled at Voldemort. "Or do you prefer us to call you a son of a bitch!?"

Voldemort hissed and the clouds evaporated above us as everyone looked at Harry. "But he's there!" Parkinson said. "Potter's there! Someone grab him!"

Ginny stepped in front of Harry first, followed by Y/N, Lana, myself, Anne, Ron, Addison, all of the Gryffindors, Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs and a few Slytherins defended Harry from the others. Harry looked around with all of the students defending him until Filch burst through the Hall.

"Students out of bed!" He yelled as he ran strangely. "Students in the corridors!"

"They're supposed to be out of bed, you blithering idiot!" McGonagall scolded him.

"Oh..., sorry, mum." He was about to turn away but Addison had stopped him.

"Wait, As it turns out, Mr. Filch," She said kindly. "Your arrival is most opportune. If you would, I'd like for you to lead Miss Parkinson and the Slytherins, all but the ones defending Harry, from the hall."

Filch nodded. "Right away." He said before turning back. "Er, exactly where is it I'd be leadin' em to, Headmistress?"

"The dungeons should do," She said as she sternly looked at Parkinson and the Slytherins.

Harry POV

Cheers rose again for Addison as McGonagall put her hand on her daughter's shoulder and smiled at her before turning back to me. "I presume you have a reason for returning," She said. "What is it you need?"

"Time." I said as the twins nodded. "As much as you can give us."

"Do what you have to," Mum said. "We'll secure the castle."

"Will that be possible?" Lana asked them.

"We teachers are rather good at magic, Lana," Mum said. "We've even been known to turn out a worthwhile witch or wizard on occasion." She looked at McGonagall. "I think it's time I ask a few of them to take their magic beyond the classroom. What d'you think?"

"Absolutely," I said with a smirk. "I think you're right." We turned to get ready, but we were stopped for a moment by Mum. "Oh, and you three?" She asked as we turned back to find Mum hugging the three of us.

"I love you three very, very much," She said and put a kiss on each of our heads. "It's so good to see you again."

"We love you too, Mum," I said and hugged her again.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Harry!" Ron said as we all left the Great Hall. "I've been thinking... It doesn't matter if we find the Horcrux."

"What the hell?" Y/N said to him.

"What are you saying?" I said to Ron.

"Unless... we can destroy it?" Lana said. "That's brilliant!"

"You destroyed Tom Riddle's Diary with a Basilisk fang, right?" Ron asked. "Well, we know where we might find one, don't we?"

"Unless you went to the Chamber of Secrets!" Y/N exclaimed. "This is brilliant, especially for you."

Before Ron could retort, I pulled out the Marauder's Map. "Okay, but you take this. Lana can go with you, she can open it with Parseltongue. That way you can find us when you get back." I handed the Map to Lana.

"Where are we going?" Hermione asked.

"You're going to the Ravenclaw Common Room," Lana said as she pocketed the map. "Go to start somewhere." With that, she and Ron made their way to the Chamber as we ran to the Ravenclaw Common Room. We were almost there, but Luna had followed us.

"Harry! Y/N! Hermione! Wait!" She yelled across the hall. "I need to talk to you!"

"We're a bit preoccupied right now, Luna!" I said as we turned to her.

"But you won't find anything where you're going. You're wasting your time."

"We'll talk later, Luna."

"Harry, I wouldn't do that if I were you!" Y/N warned me.

"Harry --" Luna made out but I stopped her.

"Later."

"HARRY POTTER!" She yelled. "YOU LISTEN TO ME RIGHT NOW!"

"Told ya." Y/N said as he looked at Luna.

"Don't you remember what Cho said about Rowena Ravenclaw's diadem?" Luna asked.

"There's not a person alive who's seen it." Hermione said as she pondered. "Luna, you don't mean..."

"It's obvious, isn't it?" She said with a smile appearing again. "We have to talk to someone who's dead."

3rd POV.

Moments before Lana and Ron ran to the Chamber of Secrets and Harry, Y/N and Hermione to the Ravenclaw Common Room, Addison Lovegood and her mother, Minerva McGonagall walked out with the rest of the students, those being Neville Longbottom, Seamus Finnagan, Anne Cotton (who was now Addison's adoptive granddaughter), Ginny Weasley, Kayla Rosario and Sam Johnson, known members of Dumbledore's Army.

"Let me get this straight, Professors," Neville said. "You're giving us permission to do this?"

"That is correct, Neville.," Addison said to him.

"To blow it up? Boom?"

"BOOM!" Minerva said in a loud tone as Horace Slughorn chugged a vial of Felix Felicis.

"Wicked!" Neville said before frowning. "Um... exactly how do you propose we do this?"

"Why don't you confer with Mr. Finnagan?" Minerva suggested. "As I recall, he has a particular proclivity for pyrotechnics."

The DA members looked at Seamus as a wicked grin broke on his face.

"I can bring 'er down," He said.
"That's the spirit," Addison said. "Now, off you go. Anne, do be safe." She said to her, as a small smile grew on her face.

"Of course," Anne said to her as she fiddled with the bracelet Hermione had given her.

"Oh, and sweetheart," Addison said as she kneeled down and then whispered. "When Y/N and Hermione do officially adopt you, I am happy with you calling me your grandmother. Welcome to the Family, regardless."

As the DA peeled off to make some explosives, Minerva, Addison, Flitwick, Sprout and Molly Wealsey were on the front lines, looking up to the sky.

"You realize, of course," Flitwick began. " that nothing we do will be able to keep out You-Know-Who indefinitely."

"That doesn't mean we can't hold him back," Madam Sprout answered.

"That doesn't mean we can't hold him up," Minerva said. "And his name... is VOLDEMORT! You might as well use it, Filius. He's going to try to kill you either way."

She turned to Addison. "Ready, Addison?" She asked her daughter as she nodded. The two raised their wands towards the statues in the corridors and the walls and shouted, "Piertotum... Locomotor!"

All of a sudden, the statues raised their heads and dropped to the ground, one by one by one. As more dropped, they marched out the hall as the other teachers shot protective spells to hold the barrier between them and the Death Eaters.

"Hogwarts is threatened! Man the boundaries, protect us!" Minerva said. "Do your duty to the school!"

The suits of armor walked out the hall as Molly Weasley looked at them marching with confusion. However, Addison and Minevra had smiles on their faces.

"I've always wanted to use that spell!" Both of them said with a little hope in their voices.
