29 |The Kiss That They Share|

1 Year Later

'We wanted to abort you and honestly I wish we did.'

'You were a mistake. You weren't supposed to happen.'

'I felt like stabbing myself in the stomach to get rid of you but I stopped myself because in the end I would get hurt.'

'You ruined our lives Soham.'

It has been a year. One freaking year and he still hasn't forgotten those words.

There were days when he used think that they should've aborted him, at least he wouldn't have gone through so much torture in his life but he was glad that they didn't because, though it was forced, he got married to Sanyukta who was slowly changing his life.

They started to share a bed and most off the times he would find himself on the edge as Sanyukta was a BAD sleeper, well that was if she wasn't in his arms.

Though them going to jail pulled that knife out of heart and soul which has been embedded in him for years, he was still broken and shattered.

His nightmares never went away. His father beating him mercilessly for things he didn't even do would still haunt him.

His parents crushing his soul every second of the day still haunted him and him crying for God to save him from his parents would still haunt him.

Sanyukta saw some changes in his behavior but he rarely shows it as he was still upset and hurt from hearing the truth of his parents hatred towards him.

They hated him for THEIR mistake. It still made no fucking sense to the both them but he was still broken by it.

There would be days were he was caring, loving and kind towards her but there would be days were he would be cold as ice.

She was finally convinced that he was Bipolar and scheduled a doctor's appointment for next week Friday.

For past few days he hardly spoke to her. It was just home to work and work to home.

She knew he was trying to occupy his mind from the things that happened but he was really putting too much pressure on himself.

Stay up all night to complete files and presentations and to get things ready for a scheduled meeting wasn't good for his health, and no matter how many times she would tell him he would continue to do so.

"Come with me," she said placing a blindfold over his eyes, stopping him from typing.

"What is this Sanyukta? I am trying to work."

"Please Soham. Can't you do this for your sweetheart?" she asked cutely pouting at him.

"Fine, stop your pouting."

She got used to this too, him knowing what she was doing without even looking. It was like he had eyes everywhere.

Most of the times it would creep her out but it was one of the things she loved about him.

As she led him downstairs, she giggled in excitement as can't wait to show him the surprise she had for him.

"You are giggling like a child, something is up. What did you do now? Is this a prank? If it is you better sleep with one eye open tonight," he told pinching her hand.

"Ouch!" Sanyukta slapped him playfully and chuckled, moving a balloon out of her way. "It's something better."

She stopped at the door of the kitchen and took the blindfold from off his face; his mouth dropped to the ground in shock, seeing the red and white balloons and the big banner with 'Happy Birthday Soham' written on it.

"Surprise! Happy birthday Soham!"

He looked around with teary eyes on the big chocolate cake in the center of the table, streamers and balloons everywhere and confetti on the counters.

"N-No one celebrated my birthday after my grandfather died expect for Urmi and today you-"

The lump in his throat stopped him from continuing and all he could do was stare with tears rolling down his cheeks.

"You thought I wouldn't remember? You are important to me Soham, I would never forget things like these, especially when it comes on to you."

Her gentle words touch his heart and pulled on his heart strings to see how much she cared for him, how important he was in her life.

"Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Soham, happy birthday to you," sang Sanyukta and Urmi as they led him towards the table with his cake waiting on him.

"Make a wish," she whispered into his ear.

'I wish for every man to get a wife like you Sanyukta.' he thought, smiling on the inside.

Blowing out the candles, he felt like his childhood was coming back to him. The times he spent with his grandfather especially on his birthday flashed before his eyes.

"Soham baba, do you remember after Jai bhaisaab died I would buy you a cupcake and put a match stick in it and light it for you to blow out the candle, well know you have a big cake with a big candle.

You deserve this Soham baba, you deserve this." Urmi broke down in tears and Soham went over to hug her.
(Jai is the name of his grandfather.)

"You were a real mother to me Urmi. And today, from this moment onwards I won't call you Urmi, I will call you MA."

Urmi looked on him with wide eyes as he stared at her lovingly, and in his eyes she saw that he really meant it.

"Soham baba."

Urmi wrapped her hands around his neck hugging him tightly, tipping on her toes as he was taller than her.

"Soham baba nahi, beta.(Not Soham baba, son.)"

Urmi broken down even more, hugging him with great force and Sanyukta stood there watching them with a smile wide on her face, not wanting time intervene in their mother and son moment.

"Come now, let's cut the cake," Urmi spoke softly.

They broke apart and wiped their tears turning back to face the cake.

"Here is the knife Soham. It's your moment, cut your cake," Sanyukta stated handing him the knife.

"No, not without the both of you."

They smiled and placed their hands on top of his as he sunk the knife down into the cake.

"3,2,1, cut."

He pulled the knife back slowly, cutting open the cake, his favorite chocolate.

"How did you know that I love chocolate cake?" he asked taking a chunk of cake up into his hands after sinking his hand into the middle of the cake.

Sanyukta looked on him sternly like a mother and he just smiled at her cutely.

"What? I always wanted to do this. I have seen Aisha do it every year and I couldn't do it with a cupcake so I had to do it now since I finally have a cake."

She chuckled and bit her lip keeping note of what he just said oh so ever cutely.

"Sanyukta come here for a minute."

"Why?" she asked, looking on him skeptically.

"I want to tell you something."

She stood closer to him but he kept telling her to lean in closer until she couldn't lean in anymore.

He went to whisper something in her ear but instead he wiped his hand on her cheek.

"Eww! Soham I will get you for this! Yuck!" Sanyukta shouted wiping the cake off her face.

Soham was already half way up the stairs to his room and seeing their Tom and Jerry fight, Urmi smiled.

Soham walked into his room and headed straight to bathroom to wash his hands.

Suddenly, his phone rang from outside and in a hurry, he quickly washed his hands and dried them in a towel.

"Hello?" he asked picking up the call.

"Hi son," Randhir spoke, shocking the hell out of Soham.

"D-Dad?"

"Yes son, missed me?"

"W-What do you want?"

"To whoop your ass for sending me to jail. I promise you Soham, that when get out of here I will beat the living crap out of you."

"I thought jail would change you but I was wrong."

"Change me to love you? Very funny. I couldn't love you even if I tried. When you were born I should have killed you. You are pest! A no good, useless fucking pest!"

"S-So is that why you called me? To hurt my feelings?"

"Well yes. I only have one phone call and I intended to use it wisely so I called you to tell you my feelings. That I hate your living guts! Happy birthday you dirt bag!"

Soham hung up and through the phone across the room, making it crash into the mirror breaking it.

Sanyukta walked into the room after hearing the commotion and saw Soham sitting on the ground angrily.

"Soham what happened?" she asked but he didn't answer her.

"Soham tell me what happened?"

"Do you hate me?" he asked, finally acknowledging her.

"What, no! I could never."

"Then why does everyone do!" he roared making her flinch a bit.

"What happened? Why are you so angry?"

"H-He called me. He told me all sorts of things. Why me? What did I do to get all of this hatred?"

"Randhir called you?"

"Yes! He had to ruin today for me too!"

"Don't cry. Urmi loves you and-"

"Love hurts okay! It damn hurts! I gave my one hundred percent but I got nothing!" he yelled angrily, throwing the vase on the ground, making it break into a million pieces.

She stared at the broken man in front of her who wanted nothing but love and got nothing in return.

She stared at the man who was once rude and cold in the beginning, but the tears of pain which rolled down his cheeks made her heart clench.

"Soham I love you," she told purely and softly, making him shift his gaze to her.

"W-What did you say?" he asked as he got up off of the floor.

"I love you. I really do. From the bottom of my heart. I fucking love you!"

He stood in front of her, close enough to feel her uneven breathing brush against his face.

"Y-You l-love m-me?" he asked sobbing.

"Yes. With all of my heart. I can't live without you. Whenever you are in pain it hurts me. Whenever you cry it breaks me. I love you so much Soham."

She cupped his face and rubbed her thumb against his cheek.

"For once in my life after my grandfather died, someone told me they love me, that my pain is their pain. You don't know how much this means to me Sanyukta. I am-" before he could finished Sanyukta cut him off.

"Just shut up and kiss me!"

She captured his lips still cupping his face pushing him back against the wall kissing him passionately.

She just couldn't hold it in anymore. He was right there standing before her, so close to her face. She just had to do it and moreover she loves him.

Sanyukta's hands played with his dark brown hair as she slowly but passionately kissed him.

He was still in shock. He couldn't think straight. First of all she told him she loves him and second of all she was kissing him.

After a few seconds of processing the situation that was going on, he pulled her closer to him, if that was possible and reciprocated the kiss.

His hands were holding her waist tightly not wanting to let her go and lose this moment he wanted to cherish for forever.

He wasn't good at this whole kissing thing so Sanyukta was basically dominating him.

They broke apart for air and his face was flushed, turning red as a tomato.

She looked away biting her lips smiling at his cuteness.

It was the first time she saw him blushing it was too cute to handle.

"You don't have to say you love me, that is if you do. Love takes time. I just wanted to tell you my feelings tonight Soham and that is I love you and I always will. Remember that."

She walked out of his room leaving him still against the wall, blushing as hell.

His tongue touched his bottom lip and tasting a metallic liquid, he placed his finger on it and realized it was blood.

'She bit me. She is such a cat!' he thought chuckling to himself.
