Oh Crap

Hello again, I'm back.

Elliot and Olivia had a date night every weekend for almost two months. Elizabeth and Dickie ended up babysitting while they went out. Mostly they just went to eat dinner and then a cheap motel for about an hour or two.

Elizabeth was three full months, not showing yet, but Elliot knew it was only a matter of time. She wanted to quit school to have the baby, but Elliot refused. He knew she was worried what the school would say when she started showing. She decided she was adult enough to have sex and get pregnant, so she would be adult enough to carry the baby while going to school. Right now, she refused to speak to her father for his choice.

"Elizabeth still not talking to you?" Olivia asked one night after closing their bedroom door. Eli and EJ had been put to bed and Dickie was in his room doing homework. The baby monitor was on in case they needed something, but Liv doubted they would.

Elliot had just come back from Elizabeth's door. He stood there a full three minutes before giving up and going back to his room. He shook his head as he took off his shirt and got into bed with a groan. "Yeah, wouldn't even tell me to leave." He watched Olivia change into her pajamas with a distant look on his face.

"I could talk to her tomorrow," Liv suggested as she got into bed beside him. He shrugged.

"If you think she'll listen to you," Elliot muttered. Liv sighed and kissed his cheek.

"I'll talk to her before school," she said softly.

The next morning, Liv met Elizabeth in the kitchen. "Hey, Lizzie." Elizabeth looked up from her bowl of cereal, but didn't say anything. "So, I know you're mad at your dad for refusing to let you drop out of school." Elizabeth scoffed. Liv sighed and continued, "One day you'll understand that sometimes you have to make hard decisions for your kids. Trust that your dad has your best interest at heart."

It was a long silence. Liv almost thought that Elizabeth wouldn't talk to her either. "It's just, the whole school's going to think I'm a whore," Elizabeth sighed as she played with the leftover cereal.

"Your mom had Maureen at 17. Was she a whore?" Elliot asked as he stepped into the kitchen.

"You and mom had a drunken night at a frat party and ended up pregnant with her," Elizabeth said.

Elliot went to pour himself a cup of coffee. "You didn't answer me," he stated.

Elizabeth sighed. "I know I wouldn't be here if she didn't get pregnant, but times have changed. The whole school will think I'm a total slut for getting pregnant by a senior."

Elliot took a long drink of his coffee before responding. "Since when did you care what everyone else thinks of you?"

She didn't respond. Instead she took her dishes to the sink and left the kitchen without another word. Dickie was waiting by the door. "Devin's here!"

"Be careful! I love you!" Elliot  called after them. As he heard the door close, Elliot set his cup down on the table as Liv got up and rushed out. He raised an eyebrow at her but didn't ask. He knew he'd be told eventually.

Liv came back ten minutes later with a worried look on her face. Elliot turned to her as he sat down with his own bowl of cereal. Eli and EJ were surprisingly still asleep, meaning Elliot could have breakfast in peace. At any rate, it was Maureen's day to watch the boys. She'd be here within the hour.

"What's wrong?" Elliot asked after he swallowed his first spoonful of cereal. Liv walked slowly over to her seat.

"Uh, we've got to go to the pharmacy," Liv said slowly.

Elliot smiled. "Why? You coming down with the flu again?"

Liv shook her head. "No, but we'll need more diapers," Liv whispered.

It took a solid five minutes for Elliot's brain to wrap around Liv's statement. Having two kids in diapers didn't help his comprehension of things either. "Are you saying what I think you're saying?" he asked with a quiver to his voice.

She nodded. "I did some mental math. We've been having sex ever weekend since we moved in two months ago. My period hasn't come since about a week after we moved in, and it was a very light period. We've been so busy with the cases lately that I hadn't noticed I didn't have a period. I'm technically three weeks late."

Elliot ran his hands over his face in exasperation. Three kids under three? Wait, four. He was a grandpa now. Crap. "What are we going to do?"

Liv chucked. "Well, Liz will keep her baby in her room, but we will have a monitor if she needs it. We will have ours in our room until it reaches a year old and out of crib stages. By that time Dickie will be nearly 17 if not already. We can save money and have the basement redone as either a room for Elizabeth and baby or for Dickie alone. The new baby, once out of crib stage can take one room and we have another room for more babies or to separate Eli and EJ if you want."

Elliot blinked several times at Liv. How long had she been thinking of this? She grinned and took a drink of her coffee before grunting. "Damn, I suppose it's back to decaf or tea for me," she said a little disappointed. They enjoyed the next fifteen minutes of quiet before Maureen showed up and the boys decided to wake up.
