Elliot spent around fifteen minutes in the shower taking care of the problem at hand. He hated doing it because it made him feel like a hormonal teenager that had no self control. He sighed to himself as he got ready for work. He had no idea if Liv would be able to go back to full duty or not. He wanted to get her to some sort of normalcy though. He peeked into the living room where Liv was sprawled on the couch. He offered her the spare bedroom, but she refused.
She barely left the couch since her ordeal. Its though she was broken. It took around an hour for Elliot to convince Liv to go into work, even as a visitor. She wanted to hide from the world. Once they were in the squad room, Fin and Munch gave Liv a warm hug each. While she responded to their hug, Elliot could see that her heart wasn't in the hug.
"Elliot."
He turned to the voice. Cragen was rushing to them. Liv stepped back as he rushed over, bumping into Elliot's side. Involuntarily, Elliot wrapped his arm around Liv's waist that Fin caught. "Yeah, Cap?"
"I'm glad you brought her in, we just got the line up." He turned to Liv and looked at her with soft eyes. "Are you okay to do this?"
For a moment, Elliot saw the fire of the old Liv, which made his chest swell with pride. She nodded, but didn't move to follow Cragen. As if noticing, he stopped a few steps away. Elliot nodded to him to go on. Cragen nodded a couple times and waved Fin and John over to his office to talk about the case.
After everyone was gone, Elliot moved to face Liv. She had a far off look in her eyes. He gently placed a hand on her cheek, making her jump and slapping him. He recoiled sharply with an intake of breath. Liv gasped as he rubbed his cheek. "El, I'm so sorry."
He waved her off. "I'm fine, Liv. Are you okay?"
She halted for a few moments before she nodded. "Yeah, I'm good."
"Okay, then let's get in there then," Elliot said, motioning with his free hand.
There was five guys, tall, dark complexion and rough looking. "Now Liv, this is the line up for the guy that assaulted you at Elliot's apartment," Cragen explained.
Elliot stood far enough away that the lawyer wouldn't think he was coaching. Casey stood closer to her and said, "Now you know what to do Liv. Take your time."
He watched her look up and down the line several times. He knew which one it was, but kept his silence. Once she stopped on Number Two and asked Cragen to tell them to say 'Shut up, bitch' she stepped back and started hyperventilating. Tears started streaming down her face and Elliot rushed to her. "Liv, which one is he?"
She looked into his eyes, fighting the tears. "Tell us which one," he said soft enough for her to be soothed, but loud enough for the lawyer to be slightly appeased.
"Hands off, officer," he decided to say instead.
"I'm trying to prevent her from having a complete break down you ass, so go jump off a cliff," he said harshly. She flinched slightly at his harsh tone but took in a deep breath.
The lawyer scoffed. "This is a conflict of interest. It was his apartment. He shouldn't even be in here."
Casey glared at her rival. "He is the sole reason that she is not only alive, but sound enough to actually be here to give your client a speedy trial if picked. The more you complain, the more Detective Stabler responds with anger at you, causing Detective Benson to flinch and have a panic attack. So do your client a favor and shut up, otherwise we might be here all day."
It took a few minutes of Elliot and Cragen both calming her fears that he'd attack her once picked before she walked back to the window with more confidence than before. Elliot and Cragen held back while Casey went to hold her hand. "Which one Liv?"
"Two," she said in a hoarse voice.
"Where do you recognize him from?"
"He's the one that attacked me in Elliot's apartment." Her voice was a mere whisper, but the lawyer heard her and rolled his eyes as he walked out.
Cragen walked up to the window and knocked twice and the officer on duty opened the door to take the line up out of the room. "Elliot," Cragen motioned.
Casey had taken her to the chair to talk about a couple things that she needed confirmation on for the case. Elliot kept an eye on her as he listened to Cragen. "Take some time off to help her prepare for the case. Keep an eye on her. She's fighting it, but as long as you're around, I think she'll be okay."
"I was hoping that bringing her in would trigger her fight reaction," he confessed.
Cragen chuckled. "It did a little," he smiled and pointed to the cheek that she slapped. "You still have a mark."
Elliot ran a hand over his cheek. "Yeah, I'm lucky she didn't decide to punch me."
"I'd pay money to see that," he said with a hearty chuckle.
