Good News and Bad

Two chapters in one day. Awesome!!!

Also I wanted to make a note that I know there is contradicting names in here about the baby. One chapter says Jesse the other says Elliot. The name is Elliot Jesse Benson Stabler. I forgot the way I put it previously but I'm not going back to change it yet. So this is the correction.

Elliot and Liv were at the courtrooms early the next day. Casey called them down to talk to them about a plea deal that her and the defense was working on. "Hey Casey," Liv greeted. She was in a chipper mood, having slept very good last night.

Lucky her. Elliot didn't get to fall asleep until after midnight. He was up trying to put that crib together. Cribs were easier to put together 18 years ago. He rubbed his face to wake himself up. Casey glanced at him with a smirk. "Rough night?"

He groaned. "Cribs were so much easier putting together when Maureen was a baby," he muttered groggily. Casey and Liv chuckled.

Casey went to get her notes as Liv and Elliot sat down. "Okay," she sighed looking at them, "Vanrick's lawyer really used the baby to get what he wanted." She paused as she went over something in her head. "One year in jail and two years probation. Not on the sex offender list."

"He's to give up his parental rights? Meaning after the baby is born that he won't ever be able to go back and try to claim him," Liv asked seriously, leaning forward intently.

Nodding, Casey flipped a page over. "Yep, Vanrick will willingly give up rights if those agreements are met."

Liv and Elliot exchanged glances. "Okay," Elliot said with a nod.

The judge ended up accepting the plea deal between the two and dismissing the court before it was even time. Liv and Elliot exchanged glances as Vanrick passed, escorted by security. "Enjoy my kid," he hissed with a laugh as he passed.

Elliot stood, having every intention of punching the guy. However, Liv's hand on his arm brought him back to reality. He cleared his throat and motioned for Liv to leave the court before him. He didn't realize he'd been holding Liv's hand until he saw Kathy at the steps outside the courthouse. She glared at Liv and his intertwined hand with malice.

"Kathy, what are you doing here?" He asked heated still.

She crossed her arms and sighed. "I heard last night that you're going to put your name on the birth certificate of that baby," she stated with an accusatory stare.

Elliot tightened his grip on Liv's hand as if that was the only thing that was keeping him from exploding. Honestly, it probably was. "Yes, I will." He looked at Liv who acted like she wanted to be anywhere but here. Possibly out with that prostitute that looked like Munch. "What do you care?"

Kathy took a step forward and hissed, "It may have escaped your mind, but you have five other kids while you're playing house with her."

"You are the one that won't let them visit me. You are the one that refused me to see my son," Elliot got in her face, panting with anger.

"Well, you wont ever get to see them again, because I'm going to win full custody," she snarled at him. Without waiting for a response, she turned and left, leaving Elliot and Liv staring after her.

Liv decided to take Elliot to a restaurant nearby to get his mind off Kathy. However, it wasn't working that well. He poked at his food angrily to the point that Liv asked for a doggie bag for it. "I'm sorry, Liv," he said with a sigh as they entered their apartment.

Liv shrugged as she went to put the leftovers in the fridge. "It's fine, El, Kathy had no reason to show up and say all that."

Elliot went to collapse on the couch with a grunt. He'd stripped off his tie and shirts. His tank top was bunched up at the waist as he loosened his belt. Today was a day off for them, so he'd spend the rest of the day in comfort.

Liv went to change as well. She searched for Elliot's old police shirt and put it on while not wearing bottoms. It covered her and she was comfy. "Movie?" Elliot asked after he finished stripping his shoes off and pants. Liv nodded as she curled into his side.

They decided on a marathon of horror movies from the 80's. Just for fun. Jesse was starting to kick against Elliot's side after Liv fell asleep an hour later. He let the movie play and just watched her stomach shift with a smile on his face. Not long after that, Elliot fell into a deep slumber as well.

Jolted awake by a scream, Elliot quickly looked around the room. Liv wasn't at his side anymore. There was a blood trail, though, leading from the floor to the bathroom. Being careful not to slip, Elliot went to open the door. "Liv," he called as he peeked in the door.

Liv was curled on the floor in front of the toilet, a small pool of blood surrounding her. "Liv!" He ran to her. "What's wrong?"

She shook her head as her face scrunched up again with pain. "I'm not sure."

He rushed to grab one of their phones. His was by the door where he put it with the car keys. "Hi, my...partner...is six and a half months pregnant and on the floor of the bathroom bleeding in pain."

He rushed back to the bathroom as she called loudly for him again. "I called 911, they'll be here in a little bit." He sat beside her and called Cragen while one hand rubbed her back. "Captain, something's wrong with Liv, she's bleeding. Yeah I called 911, yeah I'll text you when we get there."

It took ten minutes for the ambulance to get to his apartment. They rushed her to Mercy where Elliot had to wait, very impatiently. He'd left with Liv, meaning he didn't have time to grab a shirt or shoes. Only his keys and wallet. Cragen showed up with a random shirt from the squad room. It was an old shirt that he'd gotten blood on and didn't take home yet. He put it on, but left it unbuttoned.

"What happened?" Cragen demanded.

Elliot shrugged. "We fell asleep, but I woke to a scream and a trail of blood to the bathroom. She was bent on the floor covered in blood and in pain."

A nurse came out later to tell them that she had to go in labor. Her placenta had become unattached from the uterine walls and caused stress to the baby. There was a good chance that the baby would survive, but they were sure. He was in a lot of stress. "Miss Benson had previously stated that you should make any decisions if she is unable. If the choice came, what do you want to do?"

"Save Liv at all costs," Elliot automatically stated in a rush. He could feel Cragen's piercing gaze on him as he watched the nurse disappear. Elliot groaned and went to sit down, bouncing a leg nervously. Cragen went to sit nearby.

"Have you two talked about the relationship?" Cragen asked out of the blue. Elliot did a double take at his captain. Cragen's face was calm, but expectant.

He shook his head. "No, I didn't even know what to tell 911. I called her my 'partner'." Elliot chuckled to himself.

"What do you want to happen?" Cragen asked.

Elliot was saved from answering when the nurse came back out. She had a relieved smile on her face. "You two can come back. She and baby are fine."

Nearly running over the nurse, Elliot rushed back but stopped when he realized he had no idea which room she was in. He glanced at the nurse and she pointed to the last room on the left. He ran in the room to see her holding the baby with a smile on her face.

Elliot went to her side and looked at Jesse. He was so beautiful. He was small, but the nurse stated that he only had to stay to make sure his lungs and organs were fully developed. Even the doctors were surprised at the result. However, Elliot had been praying the entire time Liv was back there. He knew that God must have had a hand in this. He silently sent a quick prayer to God to thank him for keeping them both safe.

"What is his name mom and dad?" the nurse asked with a clipboard in hand.

Liv smiled at her son. "Elliot Jesse Benson Stabler." She was watching Elliot the entire time she said her sons name. He turned his head to her so fast it was a wonder that he didn't get whiplash. He wasn't expectant that, but he didn't mind in the slightest. He kissed her forehead, a full kiss for the first time ever.

They seemed to have forgotten that Cragen was still in the room, just on the other side of Liv, looking at the baby like a lovesick grandpa. "Okay, and dad's name for the birth certificate?"

"Elliot Joseph Stabler," Elliot stated in a loud whisper, not taking his eyes off Liv or EJ. Eli? Jesse? They'd work on a nickname later for the boy.
