Chapter 11

Poppy and Branch walked to Pop Village. They were going to get all the troll leaders in one place so they can prove to them once and for all that the Lost Trolls were not dangerous.

"Are you sure this is gonna work?" Branch asked. Poppy hesitated for a moment before answering.

"I really hope so." Poppy said, slightly worried. Branch saw the nervous expression on her face. He took her hand in his and looked at her in the eye.

"I'm gonna be here to back you up." He said confidently. Poppy smiled at him as he kissed her cheek.

The two trolls reached the middle of Pop Village to find King Peppy talking with the troll leaders. Well that was easier than expected. Poppy noticed that her dad looked distressed as he spoke to the other leaders.

"It's been two days and there's been no sign of her." King Peppy panicked. King Quincy tried to calm him down. "She's missing."

"Where did you see her last?" Queen Essence asked.

"When we set free that Lost Troll." King Peppy remembered.

"Do you think that troll kidnapped her?" Trollzart suggested. King Peppy lowered his head in disbelief. What if the Lost Troll did take her?

"I knew we shouldn't have trusted that troll!" Delta said angrily. "Did she take anyone else from any of your tribes?" She asked the rest of the leaders. They shook their heads.

"Come to think of it, I haven't seen Branch either." Barb stated. "What if she took him too?" The troll leaders fell silent. If the Lost Troll had taken two trolls, will it be back to take more? What was she going to do with them?

Poppy's ears drooped when she heard their conversation. Her dad had been so worried about her while she was away, and thought that Aria was to blame. She didn't hesitate and ran to the gathering of troll leaders.

"Dad!" Poppy called. When King Peppy saw his daughter his face lit up and he went over to give her a hug.

"Poppy, where have you been?" He asked. "I've been so worried about you."

"Dad, Aria took me and Branch to her tribe." Poppy explained calmly. The troll leaders gasped.

"I knew it!" Trollzart said.

"She is not to be trusted!" Delta added. Poppy stopped them and calmed them.

"No, she didn't harm us in any way." Poppy said. "None of their tribe wants to harm us. You can hear it from them, yourselves." Poppy pointed to a nearby tree where Aria, Ash, Oak and Tala came out from behind. King Peppy stood in front of Poppy, defending her.

"Queen Poppy speaks the truth, your highness." Tala said calmly as she stepped forward. The leaders stood back. "I'm Tala, chieftain of the Lost Trolls."

"You're the leader?" Barb asked, tilting her head.

"Yes," Tala said. "And just like all of you, I want to do what's best for the trolls." Oak stepped forward, next to Tala.

"I was the one who lead that invasion on your village the other night." Oak explained. The trolls gasped, recognizing him. "We may have seemed a little aggressive, but it was only to get your attention." The leaders looked at each other, confused.

"There was a hurricane and it damaged our village," Tala spoke. "It destroyed all of our crop fields and we don't have enough hands to repair it quick, there's very little food left for my people." Tala kept walking forward, towards the leaders. "All we ask for is your help."

"Do you really think we'd help you after what your ancestor did to ours?" King Quincy said. Aria jumped in, joining the others.

"Our ancestor wasn't trying to harm yours!" Aria added in. "She came back to the other trolls after Mother Nature gave her a guardian to show them. But there were predators going to attack you guys." King Quincy tilted his head.

"You guys only knew about the tail-end of the fight." Ash said. "She fought off those predators with her guardian, destroying your village by accident while fighting."

"It's true." Tala said. "Take it from her descendants, we know the story better than anyone." The leaders looked at each other.

"We're all about living in harmony." Poppy said. "Doing what's best for the trolls. And I mean all of them!"

"And the way to do that..." Branch started, looking at Poppy and Aria. "Is by accepting each other's differences." Aria walked ahead of the others and looked at the leaders.

"Our power may be different from yours." Aria said. "But what you may see as a curse, we see as a blessing." Aria lowered her head and started to sing.

🎶You say 'what if things start changing?'🎶

🎶I say 'we'll be changing with them'🎶

🎶We'll just sing a different melody, and dance a different rhythm🎶

🎶You say 'what if I give up?'🎶

🎶I say that's it's one thing that I'll never let you do🎶

Aria's necklace started to glow, the troll leaders stared at it with confusion. Apart from Barb and King Trollex, who remembered the power it possessed. Poppy and Branch stood next to her, joining in with the song.

🎶You say 'what if someone leaves me? And they leave me empty-handed?'🎶

🎶I say 'losing only teaches you to not take things for granted🎶

🎶No, I can't just bring them back. But darling, I can hold your hand and promise you🎶

Ash, Tala and Oak joined in with the song, their gems also lighting up. Suddenly, Echo appeared with light and sparkles bursting off her.

🎶That the sky will still be up there🎶

🎶And the sun will always shine🎶

🎶The stars will keep on falling for the ones who wish at night🎶

Aria felt tears form in her eyes as the song she sang reminded her of her mom. She would want to bring the troll tribes together and hopefully, she would be proud of her and Ash. Memories of her mom singing the song to her and Ash filled her mind as she pushed her emotions down and focused on the task at hand.

🎶The mountains won't start moving🎶

🎶And the rivers won't run dry🎶

🎶The world will always be there🎶

🎶And so will I🎶

Echo swam in the air around their heads, lighting up the evening which made the troll leaders gaze at her in awe. She flew down to Aria and she held onto her nose, lifting her into the air and holding her as she swam. Ash, Tala and Oak's guardians all appeared as well, dancing in the air and lighting up the evening.

Echo dropped Aria onto the ground, just in front of the troll leaders. She stood before them and sung by herself.

🎶Even if the sky is falling🎶

🎶And the sun don't wanna shine🎶

🎶If the stars we used to wish on disappear into the night🎶

🎶Well, I can move a mountain🎶

🎶But only by your side🎶

Echo flew down next to Aria and shrunk down. She flew around the leaders, weaving inbetween their heads.

🎶Just say you'll always be there🎶

🎶I know you'll always be there🎶

🎶And so will I🎶

As Aria's gem stopped glowing and the blue mist and sparkles settled around the village square, the troll leaders looked down at her and the other Lost Trolls. They were completely taken away by awe.

"Man, I'll never get over how cool that is." Barb said.

"You see?" Aria asked, Echo landing in her hands. "Our tribes aren't as different as you think." The leaders smiled down at her. Poppy and Branch came up to her, holding each other's hand.

"We're all trolls." Poppy said. "We all have a song in our heart."

"How can we live in harmony and diversity as trolls..." Queen Essence started. The trolls held their breath, awaiting the end of her sentence. "If we don't welcome all the trolls?" She smiled. Tala and the Lost Trolls couldn't believe what they were hearing as they smiled up at her with excitement.

"Thank you, your majesty." Tala bowed her head in front of Queen Essence. "All of you." The leaders smiled back at her, welcoming her.

Aria ran into Poppy and Branch, hugging both of them tightly.

"We couldn't have done any of this if it wasn't for you two." Aria said. "Thank you for giving us a chance."

"Thank you, Ari!" Poppy exclaimed. Aria smiled as wide as she could, before hugging them tightly again.
