Chapter 5: Clue in plain view
December 23, 1987
(Dwayne's view)
I stood at my bedroom window watching the snowflakes sparkle and shimmer in the winter sky.
"She always loved to watch the snowflakes shimmer and sparkle in the winter."
I thought, as tears streamed down my cheeks.
"Oh Enola, I wish you could see how much we miss you." I thought, as I continued to look out the window when suddenly something hit me in the back of the head.
"What the hell?" I muttered, as I picked up the small object that had hit me in the back of the head, when I saw what it was I gasped.
"This is the ring that Enola made for me when we were kids!" I exclaimed, as I slipped it onto my finger with a soft whimper.
"Do you want me to keep looking for you?" I asked nobody in particular as I looked out the window again, as the frosty wind blew my long black hair into my face.
I looked at the window and noticed that through the fogged up glass the words 'In the diary,' had formed before disappearing as quickly as they appeared.
"What does that mean?!" I shouted, as I pulled my hair in frustration when suddenly I noticed that some of the snow had blown into my room.
"Are you trying to tell me something?" I wondered, as I picked up her diary and frantically flipped through the pages in order to figure out the clue.
Then I spotted it, it was a poem.
"True is the clue when there is little to do." I read, as I cocked my head to the side in confusion.
"What are you trying to tell me sis?" I ask, as I closed the diary with a soft slam.
I felt the winter breeze blowing my hair back, as if she were actually with me.
"I'll find out what happened to you, I promise." I whispered, as I continued to look out the window at the falling snow.
