Stranger

Sophie's perspective:
Sophie followed Lihn's voice. Soon, her, Fitz, and Biana were standing together with Lihn.

Lihn pushed back the mist, drying their clothes and holding back the fog.

Almost immediately after, the wall of mist froze, forming millions of tiny frozen droplets.

"Woah." Biana breathed.

Fitz jumped back into Sophie, making her turn and see what had scared him.

A woman around Grady's age with long caramel brown hair and royal blue eyes stood directly behind them.

The four teens just stared at her in anxious silence.

"Who are you?" Sophie finally managed.
The woman grabbed Sophie's arm. "The girl who's going to save your life."

The woman started dragging Sophie away, but she fought back.

The woman sighed. "Come with me, before that Neverseen fanatic finds us."

Sophie shared a look with the others.

They followed the strange woman deep into the fog.

"Where are you taking us?" Biana asked.

The woman sighed. "Somewhere you'll be safe, for now."

She stopped and stared into the fog. "We're here."

"And where is this?" Fitz asked condescendingly.

The woman shushed him. Taking a deep breath, she raised her hands and thrust them out to the sides in a "T" pose.

The fog froze, much like Valerie had done it and parted to reveal a massive elegant building that appeared to have been abandoned for a millennia.

"Woah." Lihn and Biana breathed in unison.

Biana was staring at the grand house while Lihn was gaping at the foggy gateway leading them there.

"Come on." The woman urged. "We'll be safe inside."

Fitz took in his surroundings with a look of awe. "Forkle wasn't kidding about this place."

The woman led them to a huge room with anticlimactic furnishings. There was a rickety chair, an old bench, and mats on the floor. All around a gargantuan fireplace.

"So," Sophie examined the meager furniture. "You live here."

The woman chuckled. "I don't really have anywhere else to go, so, yes, I live here."

The whole place smelled damp and mildewy. There was condensation on the walls.

"I'm starting to see why they moved Eternalia." Biana ran her hand on the smooth crystal wall, soaking her palm.

"Among other reasons." The woman added. "Have a seat." She gestured to the bench and mats as she slumped into the chair.

The four teenagers sat down awkwardly.

Sophie tugged a loose eyelash. "Who are you?"

The woman sighed. "Right, the oh so important question." She pulled her thick hair over her left shoulder. "My name is Aramis. And I've been fighting the Neverseen for almost twenty years now."
