Alone
Tam's perspective:
He slammed the door behind him as he entered his room. He didn't want to deal with anyone right now. He'd kept it together in front of everyone else, but now he flopped back onto his bed. He sighed, squeezing his eyes shut. He breathed hard and sat up, pacing around his room. He yelled and punched the crystal wall. He basked in the sting pulsing through his arm, glad to feel something. He dragged his hand down the wall, unclenching his fist.
Blood stained his knuckles where the crystal had cut up his hand. A web of cracks marred the smooth wall. He leaned his forehead against the cold jewels. His uneven breaths shook his chest, making his lungs hurt. He closed his eyes, unable to hold back the tears any longer.
The hot salty droplets ran down his nose and fell to the floor.
He slid down the wall, dropping to his knees.
When his breathing finally steadied, he pushed himself to his feet and walked to the bathroom, locking the door behind him. He smeared a balm on his knuckles and wrapped his hand in a cloth.
He gripped the edge of the sink and stared at his reflection in the mirror. He looked too put-together for how he felt inside.
It was torture to watch Valerie hurt the people she loved. No, not Valerie, Bella. He didn't care that she had Valerie's face, it wasn't her. Bella was not the compassionate, smart, skilled girl he had grown so close to. She had been erased, like her memories.
Eventually, he slipped back into his room.
Lihn knocked on the door. "Tam?"
He didn't answer, he wasn't ready to face anyone yet.
