Chapter Fifteen

Recap: Daniella returned home and had a three-day deadline to get all of her stuff out of her family house before the bank got it ready to resell. Jacob, her childhood friend went with Dani home once he found out about her returning. He didn't stay long due to an argument. Just after, Alexander found her again, surprising her at the random appearance at her house. Alexander ended up marking Daniella and soon after before going to sleep Daniella reluctantly agreed to go back to Alexanders as long as she had a few days longer at home.

------------

Daniella stared at the mark on her waist in confusion. It was in the exact spot Lucus's name was before.

"What's wrong?" Alexander asked leaning against the door way causing her to jump. She was so concentrated on looking at the mark she didn't even notice him appear.

"This covered Lucas's mark." She stated looking at him carefully for his reaction.

"Maybe. I did some reading and the only way to get rid of another vampires claim is by killing that vampire, but in rare occasions if you try to mark that person anyway it will stay and the other mark will completely disappear." Alexander informed her, but she only shrugged in response.

She didn't understand what all that meant exactly."But look his is gone completely."

"Want to know why that probably is?" He asked slowly taking steps towards her. Daniella didn't notice and only continued to poke and prod with the beautiful mark.

"You just said, because you marked me it covered it up."

"Yes, but it worked because you're mine. You're my true beloved, my queen." He whispered with his velvety voice into her ear, his chest directly against her back.

Daniella stared at him through the mirror and was unsure how to respond with the unknown feeling building up in her chest.

"Always have been, always will be." He said, pushing her hair away from her neck and placing his lips on the crook of her neck.

"S-stop." She whispered as she watched him with hooded eyes.

"Just push me away and tell me you don't want this and I shall." He said gently teasing her by pulling on her ear with his teeth. The strange sound escaped her lips again as she found herself leaning into him.

What happened to her? She hated him. He was a killer. He was one of them. Why was she allowing this?

Alexanders lips moved to her shoulder were the oversized t-shirt wasn't covering. She couldn't breathe as he placed a few opened mouth kisses on her body. Where was her control?

"Get off of me." She demanded pushing him away and taking a few steps back."I don't want this -that. I don't want that."

"You can continue to deny all of this, but it's only a waste of time. Your body wants mine. It was made for mine. Everything you have was made for me."

"I am not an object! I am a human being. You continuously disrespect me and act as though I owe you my everything. You even kidnap-" Suddenly his lips were slammed against hers. Unsure of what to do she stayed still until he pushed harder, letting his hands tangle in her hair.

He pulled away and she stared at him with wide eyes. Before her hand even had the chance to slap him he grabbed her wrist. "So now you think sexual assault is okay too? Just because your Mr. Vampire doesn't mean you have any right to-"

Alexanders lips were on hers once again for exactly 6.5 seconds before he pulled away again. "What on earth?" She mumbled staring at him curiously. She couldn't help but wonder, what game is he playing?

"Daniella?" A voice called from downstairs causing her to freeze. It suddenly felt like a bucket of ice was thrown on top of her. Her eyes found Alexanders on to see them now a dark blue, almost black looking.

"Can you just stay here?" Daniella whispered moving past him and out the bathroom door. Alex only scoffed in response.

"What? Don't want your boyfriend to see me?" He asked and she almost rolled her eyes at his immaturity. Isn't he suppose to be old or something? More mature?

"Sorry, queen, but you're mine. I won't let some past boy toy try to get in the way of that. His head will be off his shoulders if he even thinks about it." Alexander whispered in her ear just before Jacob's voice was heard again.

"Daniella, you here?" He called and she removed her wrist from Alex's grasp before going downstairs.

"What do you want?" She asked softly as she stopped on the last step. She wasn't going to argue with him again.

"I really didn't mean what I said yesterday. I'm really sorry." He said moving so he was directly in front of her.

"It's fine. I didn't go and cry about it, so just forget it." She said and he only frowned.

"I loved you, Ella. You were my best friend, my future wife, but you left. You were gone for years. Years. I won't treat you how I use to, but I would like the chance to get to know the new you because I want to love you and nothing but you again." Jacob said holding her hands in his.

Daniella suddenly felt that barrier around her heart crack once again. His words were getting to her; she missed him and here he was making an effort, an effort to know the real her.

"Okay." She whispered nodding. Jacob's face lit up for exactly thirty seconds before it turned into a frown.

"Ella, who is that?" Jacob asked and Daniella stepped down the remaining stairs, dropping Jacob's hands as she turned around to see Alexander standing there, his hand resting on the wooden rail going down the side of the stairs.

"Alexander Windsord." He introduced himself, his eyes holding a dark look in them. "You must be Jacob." It wasn't stated as a question as Alex's lips curled up into a smirk.

"It truly is a pleasure to meet a friend of Daniella's," Alexander stated holding his hand out once he got to end of the stairs. She immediately noticed the height difference between the two as they both held a tight grip with their handshake.

"How do you know her?" Jacob asked giving him an accusing look and Daniella knew it was time to interrupt.

"Alexander is a good friend of mine. He helped me." The lie left her lips before she could even think about it.

What? Did she really just lie for Alexander. Her kidnapper? She mentally scowled at the thought.

Jacob seemed to relax at her words and smiled at Alexander. "Thank you so much. It's nice to know she wasn't completely alone out there all these years." He said and Daniella almost scoffed out loud.

"Yes, well." He muttered, not finishing his sentence.

"Alexander, you were leaving now, right?"She asked narrowing her eyes for a quick second before Jacob turned to look at her.

"Was I? I thought I was helping you pack." Alexander only held his smirk, flashing her a quick smile, letting his fangs show.

"Jacob, if you don't mind, can you please excuse us for a minute?" Daniella asked him sweetly and he nodded.

"Yeah, I'll just wait in the living room," Jacob said sending her a smile before walking into the other room.

"What is wrong with you?" She hissed as soon as her old friend left the room.

"Me? You know you're mine, yet you continue to try to tease me with your boy toy." He hissed right back, letting his real anger show. Alexander backed her into the hallway wall, placing his large hand on her waist, making sure to let his hand touch his mark."Feel that? You'll only get that feeling from me, Queen."

Alexander moved back before going into the living room."Jacob, why don't you stay for dinner? I'd be glad to make some for you too." Daniella put her head back against the wall, her eyes closed tightly together. This would not end well.

She took a deep breath before faking a smile and walking into the living room, standing directly next to Alexander. "How about I just order some Chinese?" She offered and let her smile turn into a real one when she caught the disgusted look on the alpha males face. He liked thinking he had an advantage over her, but she wouldn't let him get to her.

"Sounds great," Jacob said smiling back at her. Daniella asked Jacob to borrow his phone and he quickly allowed her. Once the phone was in her hand, she quickly looked up the closest place and dialed the number. She didn't look at Alexander as she ordered all types of food for the three of them.

As soon as the call ended Alexander finally let himself cut in, "You know I do prefer all of my meats quite rare." He said sitting on the couch. His nice clothes fitting into the expensive setting of her house.

"Oh, Daniella and I have always preferred our meats well done. I hope you don't mind, I mean it is only Chinese food after all. They don't leave much of a choice." Jacob said sitting on the couch across from him.

Alexander let a challenging look appear on his face,"Really? She takes me as a rare person. I mean plenty of people do switch after they taste just a bit of the juiciness." He insisted causing Jacob's eyes to narrow as well.

"Well, I don't see Ella being the type to just suddenly switch."

"I wouldn't say it's sudden. I mean she was out in the cold for years. You know all by herself. I'm sure she didn't have time to cook her food all the way through when she was making whatever food she ate over a fire for an hour." Alexander retorted.

"I actually don't have a preference, so how about we play a game or something?" Daniella cut in, her suggestion making even herself cringe.

"A game?" Alexander asked, his lips twitching upward. He couldn't remember the last time he's played a real game. Most of his games were hide and seek. His prey would run and he would quickly seek, taking every drop of blood from their body.

"Yes, it will be fun," Daniella said, not completely sure if she was trying to convince him or herself.

"I think it will be a great idea. A friendly little game to get ourselves more comfortable with each other."Jacob said smiling.

"Yes, shall we play in here or the kitchen?" Alexander asked and she lightly bit her lip as she thought about the decision, not noticing the way his eyes darkened and followed the movement.

"The kitchen," Dani said leading the way to the next room. The table was higher and it would've been strange to see both grown men sitting on the ground in their nice clothes.

"Let's make this a bit more exciting," Alexander suggested before taking a seat at the table. He walked over to a cabinet and pulled out three different bottles of alcohol.

"How did you..?" Daniella trailed off confused. She knew that was her father's good stash of alcohol in that cabinet, but Alexander has never been in her kitchen before. He simply set the bottles on the table before tapping his nose and sending her a wink. She immediately knew what he was implying and didn't say another word.

"So what do you suggest we play? Alexander asked sitting directly across the other male in the room and next to Daniella who sat at the head of the table.

"Never have I ever," Jacob suggested, grabbing a few shot glasses from the shelf on the wall. A sad smile formed on her face as she saw the familiar cups. Her family used to collect a shot glass from every place they would visit.

"Sounds thrilling," Alexander commented, his eyes twinkling. He poured whiskey in each of the small cups, filling each one to the very top.

"Well then, how about you start?" Daniella said looking at Jacob. The game didn't seem like a bad idea. Maybe it will help her forget about everything that's happened. She could really use a drink if she was going to be spending the night with the two of them.

"Just a quick reminder of the rules in case anyone forget. It's simple, you take a drink if you've done something someone says that haven't." Jacob clarified before starting.

"Never have I ever cheated on someone." He started confidently.

"So we're definitely starting off strong then." Alexander commented before drowning his drink. Daniella stared at the alpha male as he refilled his cup.

Would he cheat on me? She wondered before shaking the thought away. It wasn't important because she didn't like him in anyway.

"Never have I ever went to jail." Daniella said and only Jacob took his shot before refilling his cup.

"Really? You don't take me for the type." Alexander said and Jacob shrugged.

"When the love of your life goes missing you kind of spiral down." Jacob said causing Daniella's breath to hitch. Alexander didn't comment on the statement and only hum in response.

"Never have I ever kissed nor slept with someone older than me" Alexander with a sly smile on his face. He was the oldest one alive, so it was impossible for him.

Daniella took her first shot as Jacob took his second. The liquid burned her throat, but she gladly accepted the burning feeling along with the disgusting taste as the effects would be better later.

"Never have I ever kissed someone without their permission." Jacob started again and Alexander took a drink.

Mmhm should take a few of those buddy. Daniella thought rolling her eyes.

"At this rate I'll barely be drunk in an hour." Daniella muttered before grabbing a bottle and taking a long swig. Everyone in the room chuckled at her impatience.

The game continued on for another thirty minutes before the door bell rung, signaling food.

"I'll go get it." Daniella said giving them both a small smile, already feeling the effects from the strong beverage she had multiple shots and solo drinks of.

She silently hummed a familiar song to herself before stopping at the door. She composed herself before opening the door. "Hi, hold on one second." She greeted looking down at her wallet.

"Don't worry. Take your time." A woman said just as she pulled out the fifty dollars before finally looking up.

A gasp escaped the woman's lips once she looked up. "Dani? The woman asked staring at her.

Daniella couldn't move or even speak. Standing here delivering her food was one of her old friends, Megan. "Babe?" Alexander called suddenly as he walked over to the door. He leaned his hand on the door frame."How much is it?" Alexander asked. The way he spoke was much different then I've ever heard him speak before. He was acting like some frat boy.

"$42.50." She said shakily and Alexander took out his own wallet, handing the woman the money. The woman was about to give back the change, but he stopped her.

"Keep the change." He said before grabbing the food from her hand.

"Uh, thank you." She mumbled shoving it in her pocket. When she didn't make a move to leave Alexander only stared at her. "Sorry, but Daniella, is that you?"

Daniella suddenly felt her waist being lightly touched making a small tingling feeling spread throughout her body. The feeling itself suddenly woke her body you, lighting it on fire.

"Sorry?" Daniella asked, faking confusion.

"Uh, sorry. I just -" Megan paused to think over her words. "You look like someone I use to know."

Daniella nodded and lightly waved her off, "Ah, you must be talking about my cousin, Daniella. Yes, I get that a lot."

"Oh, wow. Yeah, the resemblance is crazy." She mumbled staring at me. "I apologize, I didn't mean to be rude before. I was one of her old friends and it shocked me to think she was alive, safe, and just back." She said sending me a sad smile.

"Yes, well my wife and I can only hope she's safe." Alexander said nodding before pressing his lips to my temple to hide his lips curving up. The act warming up my body once again.

"Well I hope you two have a good night. Enjoy your dinner." She said giving us a polite smile.

"Yes, you too. Thank you." She said before letting Alexander shut the door.

"Thank you." Daniella whispered to him. She normal would've taken this time to yell at him or something, but she couldn't find it in herself to do so. Somehow he just knew that she was five seconds from breaking down. Being in this town with all of these old friends who probably would've went to her funereal if she had-had one.

"Who was she?" Alex asked her curiously. His voice was back to it's soothing, yet at times condescending tone.

"Megan Brooks. She was once a good friend and my brother's fiancé." Daniella said as she headed into the kitchen where she found Jacob finishing off the bottle of whiskey.

"Oh, took you guys long enough and here I thought you'd be makin' out or something." Jacob said letting a lazy grin appear on his face to cover up his scowl.

"Don't be dramatic. We only kissed a few times because we wouldn't want to be rude with a guest next door." Alexander said as he set the food on the table.

"He's lying. Megan delivered the food, so it took some time to make up a lie of some sorts." Daniella said honestly causing Alexander to now scowl. He didn't like that she cared so much about what he thought about her. Daniella Clarke belonged to him, she is and forever will be his beloved, his soulmate, his queen.

"You didn't tell her it was you?" Jacob questioned, sending her an accusing look.

"No." She stated firmly as she opened up the bag, carefully taking out each container.

"Going to elaborate on why not? Megan became the towns crazy chick because she was so heartbroken about losing Leo. If she knew you were alive it would change her whole world. She would know her fiancé didn't die for nothing!" Jacob snapped at her causing Daniella to get mad as well. Her hands clenched into fists at his words.

"You make it sound as if it's my fault my brother is dead." Daniella said looking at him incredulously. Yes, she knew it was her fault that Lucius killed him. It was an attempt to get her to come out, but if she even knew that was going to happen then she would have saved him. She was not, no, she is not a monster.

"You're clearly still running from whoever. Whatever shit you got yourself into you made the mistake of brining it home which is why your family is now dead." He snapped standing up. Alexander's body shook at his words. Daniella couldn't even blink before Alexander had Jacob's body against the wall. His hand holding her friends throat.

"I will kill you. I don't care that you're only drunk and reek of alcohol right now." Alexander hissed directly in Jacob's face, quietly so only like he could hear. Daniella rushed over and grabbed Alexanders forearm.

"Stop! You're going to kill him." She yelled pulling on his arm.

"Good."

Daniella let out an irritated sigh, panicking she did the only thing she could think of; she grabbed a knife from the nice set on the counter.

"Alexander, let him go." She tried one more time, but the king only squeezed her friends neck tighter causing Jacob's face to tinge a blue color.

Daniella slid the knife across the palm of her left hand, wincing at the stinging pain. She watched as Alexander inhaled the smell before his eyes snapped towards her. Seeing the blood drip through her fingers and onto the floor made him release the man. Alexander's eyes were no longer an ice blue color, they now were a dark blue that swirled with black.

Alexander was the oldest vampire alive and had enough control even with an empty stomach not to attack someone bleeding, yet there his beloved was with a scent that even he couldn't stop himself from being completely enthralled and overwhelmed. In a blink of an eye he was in front of her, holding her bleeding hand in his.

The beauty of the red liquid didn't surprise him as dripped even between his palms, the flow of blood never seeming to end. The scent to humans was like a juicy steak. Daniella, his queen, was sitting here and bleeding out for what? Because she wanted to still save the life of a pathetic human being that constantly went for words that would hurt her.

"Alexander." Daniella said quietly, her eyes finally looking up to meet Alexanders.

Alexander brought her hand closer to his mouth, keeping his eyes on hers."It amazes me how you would hurt yourself in order to save that thing."

"That thing is a human being just like I am. Plus, he is my only friend. He didn't mean any of it because he's drunk." Daniella said keeping her face emotionless, so she wouldn't show how much the cut actually hurt her.

"Because he's drunk, you say?" Alexander repeated before rolling his eyes. His tongue reached out and licked across her palm, his fangs even slightly touching the side of the wound causing Daniella to flinch, as she tried to pull his hand away.

"I'm drunk. I'm always drunk. I'm drunk by your beauty, your smell, your blood, your laugh, your smile; the way you sleep, the way you breathe, and even the way you comb your hair. Your presence makes me drunk, yet for some reason you don't notice. You are mine, Daniella. And I am yours. You are also my equal, human or not. But Queen, you are not anyone else's. That friend of yours is drunk and he hurt you. I'm always drunk, but still I will never hurt you. That friend loves you, but his love will never be enough for you as you are mine and only mine. I do not share my toys. Therefore, I do not share my greater prize, my beloved." Alexanders eyes did not wonder from here as he spoke very word directly from his heart.

Daniella stared at him, her mouth slightly parted at the unbelievable speech. This man was a killer, one that tried to kill her only friend that knew she was alive, yet she still found herself wanting him and not for his body, but for his everything.

No, don't fall for it. It's that mark. Her conscious order, but she didn't listen as her eyes fell on her palm that was incredulously healed.

"H-how did you..?" She trailed of as she stared at her left palm still placed on his hand. She would have thought the injury never happened if it wasn't for the blood that still coated it.

Alexander didn't answer as he dropped her hand and let his return to his side."When you decide that this mortal is not good enough, then just come fine me. Until then, I will not bother you. " His voice was cold and distant as he walked over to the chair and slid on his nice jacket. Daniella watched as he left the room in a flash, the sound of the front door being heard.

Jacob didn't say a word as he kept his hand position over the already brushing area. He grabbed his coat and left as well, not even bothering to say goodbye.

Once alone, the ice over Daniella's heart formed once more. She was always heartless before and now that Alexander refused to interrupt that she could continue a new version of her plan. She sat down at the table and opened up a slightly warm platter of Chinese food thinking over the new and slowly forming plan. She did not need Jacob and she most certainly will never need Alexander. She could do this; she can and will start a new life that did not involve Lucius or running from anyone else. She would be free because from this point on she would not be the lost girl.
