Chapter 2
Rei slowly opened her eyes and found herself in a large stone room. She was lying in... hay? However, the room itself was rather warm and toasty. Rei sighed holding her head and her eyes widened seeing her claw on her face. So... it wasn't a dream. Not that she thought that the stone room wasn't real... just the thought of putting everything in her head scared her. She soon stopped in place when she heard a knock at the door. Rei held her arms and stood up.
"Are you there?" said a feminine voice.
Rei backed away and ran towards the window. Her eyes then widened realizing she was in a stone tower room.
"Princess?" said the feminine voice again, as Rei gulped and looked down from the tower.
"Your seriously not thinking of doing that are you?" said a familiar voice, as Rei looked up seeing a smirking Ryuu looking down at her from the sky.
"W-why did you bring me here?" asked Rei, as Ryuu sighed and flew down landing in front of her.
"Because your the missing dragon princess" said Ryuu, as Rei stopped and looked at him even more shocked than before.
"Me? A princess? Wait dragon?" I asked, as Ryuu walked towards me and I took a few steps back inside the room I was in.
"Ah princess" said a voice, as I turned my head back seeing a... dragon?
This dragon had two feet, but was all silver and had black eyes. Rei gulped and took another few steps away till her back was against Ryuu's chest.
"Awe, like me that much huh?" asked Ryuu, as Rei growled and pushed him away.
"Leave me alone" said Rei, as Ryuu sighed rubbing the back of his head and the dragon looked nervous between the two of us.
"What is going on?!" boomed a loud voice from down the hall of the room.
Rei stopped in her tracks and felt her body shaking. She held herself tightly and hid behind Ryuu. She didn't know why, but she knew she felt a little more at ease even if it was behind him.
"Your highness your daughter has awoke" said Ryuu, as Rei looked at him shocked that he would turn her over so quickly.
"Come on" said Ryuu, as Rei glared at him and the froze when hearing footsteps walk closer to the room.
Rei then paused seeing an elegant, muscular looking man with long white hair wearing white and blue, including a cape with what looked like a strange silver belt and a crown? He stood with pride, courage and looked very bold as well.
"Ah, my daughter" he said holding out his right hand towards Rei.
Rei looked at Ryuu who nodded, but Rei just stood there not knowing what to do. Ryuu sighed flying up causing Rei to look at him shocked and Rei growled when Ryuu slightly pushed her forward towards the king. The king walked towards Rei and she closed her eyes in fright not knowing what to expect. She then paused feeling a soft hand on her wrist. She opened an eye and she was stunned to see that it wasn't a hand, but a tail... A silver tail that she thought was a belt a few moments ago.
"See... nothing to be afraid of my child" said the king with kindness and Rei watched as his tail guided her a little closer towards him.
"Everything will be fine. I assure you" said the king, as Rei just stood there not knowing what to say or do.
This whole thing was hard to take in and not to mention being a princess on top of it. She didn't know how to be a princess let alone a dragon at that.
"Come my child" said the king, as Rei held her right arm with her left hand.
"My name is Rei" she said, as the king stopped and sighed.
"My child, we will discuss your human name later, right now you are to see your mother" said the king, as I looked back at Ryuu, but stopped seeing him gone.
The king had lead me down the hall and lead me down the stairs out of the tower and into a large castle. We walked up to a larger hal;l with what looked like bones, swords and even shields in some parts of the castle Rei gulped nervously and then her eyes widened in awe when the king burst two heavy looking doors open and we climbed up some more stairs.
"Your mother will be very pleased to know you are home" said the king, as Rei glanced at him.
"Pleased? You mean you wanted to keep me?" asked Rei, as she paused when the king cupped her face with his hands.
"Of course my child. You are the only child we could have. It was a miracle in itself when your mother laid you as an egg. Unfortunately, around the time you were suppose to hatch, demon slayers took you away" said the king, as Rei blinked a few times just holding onto herself.
This information did really make her think, not only of being loved, but it explained why no one could tell her of her birthday. No one was really around to notice her being born... well hatched on the day.
The king then slightly opened a wooden door and Rei froze seeing a black scaled dragon sleeping in hay. She was giant, but beautiful. Rei held onto the king's left arm and she paused when he placed his right hand on her head.
"My child that is your mother" said the king, as Rei gulped but didn't move. The king smiled and slowly guided her towards the dragon.
"My love, our child has returned to us" said the king, as the dragon's eyes opened in an instant causing Rei to jump at her red glowing eyes.
"FINALLY" roared the dragon, as a huge puff of smoke encircled the whole room causing Rei to cover her eyes with her arms preparing for the worst.
Rei slightly opened her eyes when she could not feel anything hurting her. She then paused seeing a woman with long brown hair that stopped below the thigh and she was wearing a dark green royal dress. Her scales were black and her horns appeared at the front but then curled to the back stopping just behind her ears, Her black wings curled behind her as she stood with grace and finesse. The woman smiled joyfully and walked up to Rei holding both her hands.
"How beautiful she looks with her purple scales, blue claws, and her wings are starting to sprout" said the woman, as Rei's eyes widened and she looked behind her to see indeed she was starting to grow wings.
Rei gulped and tried to take a step back, but she paused when the woman embraced her and hugged her tightly.
"My loveable Kayda" said the woman, as Rei freed herself and took a step back.
"My name is Rei" she said, as the woman paused and looked at the king who sighed while holding his head.
"It seems she has a human name" said the king, as the woman smiled sadly and placed her hands on Rei's shoulders.
"Than Rei it is. I will miss calling you Kayda, but if you prefer Rei than that is what we will call you" said the woman, as Rei blushed slightly.
This woman really was a queen and a very kind one at that. Rei placed her claws on the woman's arm and looked at her.
"So I... really am a dragon?" asked Rei, as the woman smiled placing her hands on top of Rei's head and held her tightly.
"Yes, my child. Your father and I will explain what happened on the night you were born" said the queen.
Meanwhile Ryuu was flying towards his kingdom and landed in the middle of the throne room.
"Ryuu where have you been?" said a voice, as Ryuu rolled his eyes knowing exactly who it was.
"I was at the main kingdom. The daughter has finally been found" said Ryuu, as he looked at the dragon who was talking to him.
This male dragon was very muscular and very tall, he had medium red hair and glowing yellow eyes with black markings all over his red scales. He wore royal clothes, but nothing to cover his chest or markings.
"Oh? And did you claim the reward?" asked the man, as Ryuu narrowed his eyes.
"No, Draco did" said Ryuu, as the male growled and banged his fist on the throne.
"Damn it Ryuu, you are my son and next in line for the throne, stop thinking about yourself" said the male dragon, as Ryuu closed his eyes and bowed slightly.
"Forgive me father" said Ryuu, as he walked out of the throne room and started walking down the hall.
"You lied" said a voice, as Ryuu sighed and turned his head seeing his two older brothers. One had black scales, black medium hair, yellow eyes, but had two sets of wings on his back. The other had white hair, yellow eyes, but had silver feathers instead of scales. They were hybrids, but not royal hybrids. So because of this Ryuu was destined to take over the kingdom, not his older brothers.
"I didn't lie about anything" said Ryuu walking passed them, but his eyes widened when one of his older brothers grabbed him by the throat and pinned him against the wall in the hallway.
"The whole kingdom has heard you know... about you saving the princess" said his brother with silver hair while the brother with black hair pinned him harder against the wall. Ryuu grunted trying to get out of his grasp, but soon was punched across the face.
"How dare you lie to father" said the brother with black hair, as Ryuu glared at them.
"I don't recall having to claim the reward. Father said to save the princess which is exactly what I did" said Ryuu, as the brother with black hair growled and punched Ryuu's face causing Ryuu to fly back into a few stone walls.
"No wonder no one takes you seriously" said the brother with silver hair, as Ryuu slowly stood up and wiped his mouth with his sleeve.
"Why didn't you tell them the truth?" asked a voice, as Ryuu turned his head towards the Dragonnet, now in his fully dragon form being the size of a kitten, with black scales and dark blue eyes and one of the species of dragons to side with Ryuu's kingdom. (Don't worry there will be more on species a little later)
"Dragonnet I cannot please everyone" said Ryuu, as the dragonnet sighed.
"You could have just told your father that as a reward the king has given you full permission to be a loyal dragon in his quarters to fight by his side when in need. Its a real honor after all" said the dragonnet, as Ryuu sighed dusting himself off and then spread his wings.
"I can do what I want dragonnet stop telling me what to do" said Ryuu, as the dragonnet sighed again and flew off. As he did Ryuu suddenly paused and saw the princess's face in his mind. Ryuu growled shaking his head and walked towards his room.
Back with Rei, she had a full day of talking with her parents trying to know and understand everything around her. Soon it was just her and her mother in the room in the tower where she woke up in, but she was finding it a little difficult trying to talk with her when different types of dragons kept flying in and out of the room. Measuring her from every sort of direction and then Rei paused when her mother asked her a question.
"S-sorry what was that?" asked Rei, as her mother smiled.
"Did you want to learn about our kingdom tomorrow? I mean there is a lot to learn, but I'm sure you can manage" said Rei's mother, as Rei smiled nervously.
"I guess I could" said Rei, as her mother smiled greatly.
"Then tomorrow we will also have a feast and a dance" said Rei's mother, as Rei looked at her a little surprised.
"Will everything be okay with me looking like this though?" asked Rei, as her mother smiled cupping her face.
"Everything will be perfect. Your wings will take about a week or so to full grow and then four weeks for your tail and your horns will take longer" said Rei's mother, as Rei tried reaching for her wings.
Rei didn't want to be rude, but at the same time, she wasn't sure she wanted to have wings, a tail or horns. She was just getting used to the idea of having a family and everything started hitting her all at once.
"Anyway it has been a long day, you rest up and we will see you tomorrow" said Rei's mother, as she watched her mother walk out of her room and close the doors behind her.
Rei walked over to the window and sighed looking at everything. Even though she met her family, she felt more alone than she realized.
"Your looking upset princess" said a familiar voice, as she looked up seeing Ryuu smirking towards her again.
"Where have you been? You left me all alone" said Rei, as Ryuu chuckled and landed right in front of her on the stone railing at the window while bending his knees.
"Awe did the princess miss me?" asked Ryuu, as Rei puffed her cheeks and pushed him off the railing.
Ryuu's eyes widened and then he flapped his wings like crazy and dove inside Rei's room.
"That's dangerous you know" said Ryuu growling and he paused looking at Rei giggling slightly while hiding her face.
"I'm Rei" she said, as Ryuu blinked a few times and stood up.
"Rei? that's..."What?" asked Rei crossing her arms while glaring at him.
"Human" said Ryuu, as Rei turned away from him.
"Why does everyone have a problem with my name?" asked Rei, as Ryuu sighed.
"Again its human... anything human is something we just don't like here. I mean after all the demon slayers were the ones that kidnapped you" said Ryuu, as Rei sighed and turned her head.
"Okay I get that, but I picked out my name myself. Shouldn't that mean something" said Rei, as Ryuu smirked and walked up to her.
"That's impressive considering we usually get our names by our hatching" said Ryuu, as Rei paused noticing Ryuu slightly touching her scales around her neck with his own black claws.
Rei gulped slightly and she blushed when she could feel Ryuu's warmth near her ear.
