Underline: Writing

Ellia's POV:

Journal Entry 1:

Today is January 2nd. It's been a week since we left Rivendell and there still isn't an ounce of snow on the ground. The others see it as a good omen for our travels, but I miss seeing the white powder on the ground like I used to in New York. I also miss my friends that I made in Rivendell. I quickly became friends with the children of Elrond and with Elrond's right hand, Lindir. He gave me this journal to keep track of what happens in case should the fellowship fail. In the past week, Gimli seems to have taken a liking to the hobbits and he keeps them close when we go by a "spooky area." Aragorn and Gandalf have been leading the group since we have left, and they haven't let me or Frodo out of their sights. Sometimes their overprotectiveness can be annoying, but I know they mean well. I wonder what's happening in New York. Even though there more heroes to protect it, I can't help but worry that my home is being attacked and I am of no help. Right now, we're hidden off the road and Sam made dinner for us. The hobbits and Gandalf are sitting to my left while Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir are on another log to my right. Dinner is about to start; I will write again when the time is right.

I felt a tap on the shoulder. I look up from my new journal and I see Aragorn holding two bowls of stew. He hands me one of the bowls and sits next to me.

"What are you writing about?"

I close the book and put it to the side before looking at my new friend.

"I'm writing about our journey so far. Lindir gave it to me so I can keep track of everything in case things went south. I really hope things don't go south."

"I am sure they will not."

I feel my heart sink a little as I turn my face away from Aragorn. I can't tell any of them what happens. Gandalf and I already know and it's a burden. Telling them might influence something worse to happen.

"You never know. In my world, there's a lot of things that go south. The journey through the Gap of Rohan is not the one we should take."

"Well, things might be different now that you're here. I doubt that will be the case."

Aragorn put an arm around my shoulder. I looked at him again with a chuckle.

"No wonder Tolkien called you Elessar."

"He did?"

"Yeah. You're a huge hero in his books. I think he even made your character based on him and he made Arwen in dedication to his wife, Edith. It's a little cheesy in my opinion. Wholesome and sweet, but cheesy."

3rd POV:

Aragorn looked like he was going to speak again, but he was interrupted by Gimli.

"So lass, do you know everything that is going to happen?"

Ellia looked at him.

" I'm not sure I can say. And even if I could, I won't tell you."

"So, that is a yes then?" Pippin asked.

"I don't know, is it?"

Pippin and Merry looked at Ellia before looking at each other in confusion. Sam looked at Ellia with pleading eyes.

"Is there anything you can tell us, Miss Ellia?"

"Sorry Sam, but I can't."

There was a small silence in between the fellowship as they finished their food. Sam went around and collected the plates but he tripped on one of the small rocks around the clearing. Ellia lifted her hand and she used her telekinesis to catch Sam and the bowls.

"You okay, Sam?"

"Y-Y-Yes. Thank you."

Ellia steadied Sam

"What about being a hero? You mentioned that you were one! Is it just you or are there more?"

"Well, there are a lot of heroes in my world. Some of them are super famous while others, like myself, aren't as popular. Some of the famous ones are Calipso, Grey Pheonix, Thunderhawk, Thena, and Silver Soldier. And there are my friends who are like me. Elise is a vampire, so her codename is Bloodmoon. Jackson is a werewolf so his codename is Wolfsbane. Glen is a siren so her code name is Tails, and my partner, Nyx is a shapeshifter, so their codename is Duplicate."

"What do you mean by partner?"

"What I mean is that we work together as a team. Nyx is a person who flows in between being a boy and a girl because of their ability. Because of that, they don't see themselves as fully man or fully woman. Now, there are times where they do feel fully manly or womanly but I use "partner" to identify them. Ever since they got kicked out of their house at a young age, they were taken in by the orphanage that took me in. That's actually how the four of us met. It's a really long story that will take forever, but I feel like I should tell you when it's a better time. It's getting really late and we should be getting some rest."

Ellia got up and walked away to one of the trees. The boys watched her as she climbed up to one of the high branches and settled down. Gandalf lightly chuckled as the others gave each other looks of confusion.

"Does she like sleeping in trees?" Boromir scoffed.

"She has had issues sleeping on the ground since she was a small child. She has always slept in high places. One time I saw her sleeping on a ceiling beam in her room when she was 12." Gandalf explained.

The hobbit's eyes widened as they looked up at the tree branch that Ellia was sleeping on.

"Will she fall?" Pippin mumbled.

"She has fallen once before, but I do not think she will tonight. Now that you mention it, Ellia is right. Legolas, will you take watch for tonight?"

"Yes Mithrandir."

Legolas went up a tree and kept watch while the others slept in the ground.

**Time Skip**

The group stopped at a rock formation and split up to their tasks. Boromir started to teach the hobbits how to sword fight with the help of Aragorn. Sam and Ellia worked on the food while Legolas kept a look out. Frodo was... being Frodo. Once the food was done, Ellia sat next to Gandalf and Gimli and gazed at the land to the horizon.

"So, what is this place exactly? Is it like the ruins of Amon Sul or is this just a random rock formation?"

"Just a random rock formation, lassie. You know, under this mountain ahead of us is the mines of Moria. Gandalf, we should pass through, my cousin Balin would give us a royal welcome!"

Gandalf stroked his beard in thought. "I would like to take the Gap of Rohan then straight to Mordor. Moria is a good place to go, but I would rather go if we had no other choice."

All the sudden, a yelp is heard from behind the trio. They turn their heads to see Pippin holding his hand and Boromir apologizing before being knocked down by the two hobbits. Then Aragorn joined the "knocked down" pile for helping Boromir. Ellia began laughing hysterically which caused Gandalf and a couple of others to laugh at the situation.

Sam was the first to compose himself enough to notice something in the sky.

"What is that?"

"Nothing, just a wisp of cloud." Gimli retorted.

Boromir helped Aragorn up then glanced in the same direction and tensed up. "Its moving fast, and against the wind."

"Crebain from Dunland!" Legolas shouted.

Aragorn grabbed Pippin and Merry and shoved them under some rocks and branches. "Hide! Under the rocks!"

Everyone scrambled to find a hiding spot but Ellia couldn't find one to hide her properly. She ended up getting dragged down by Boromir and he used his cloak to cover the both of them as the birds passed. They both waited until the birds couldn't be heard anymore until they came out of their spots along with everyone else.

"What were you thinking? Were you thinking? If you had stayed out a second longer, the birds would have spotted you and you would have given away our position to Saruman!"

Gandalf quickly stood in between them.

"Boromir! That is enough! I will not have you talk to my apprentice that way! Rohan is being watched, we have to take another path. We will take the Path of Caradhras."

"Snow? We're going to walk in the snow?"

"Yes, my dear. Why?"

"Well, I didn't bring my snow pants or snow shoes so I'm going to have wet everything."

Gandalf chuckled and started walking towards the mountains.

"Welcome to the medieval times, little one."
